I found this book at a thrift shop. Looking at the cover, I knew it's going to be a wonderful read. Simple, informative and will surely brings a certain nostalgic space. True blue KLites need to read the compilation of 20 write-ups Kampung karaoke, Sungai Buluh Camp, Chow kit, Bakso? and many more plus some photographs. Grab it, throw it into your tote-bag. A good read while waiting for your bus or flight. Recommended.

I always buy book(s) about a certain city or a country when I travel there, because I want to understand it from another's perspective. But there's still so much to be learnt from our own city, Kuala Lumpur.
Stories from the City recovers different urban narrative hidden away behind mega structures and projects around Kuala Lumpur that gives it a mere glimpse of what gives this city its sense of place. Even as KL is thriving, with its non stop development, the editor laments that to live or recognise one self in this city,is to constantly live with loss.
So it that effort to celebrate Kuala Lumpur before it mirrors (or try to) its lost older brother Singapore, this book compiles Kuala Lumpur's true essence and what makes it really tick for its inhabitants. Love it!
