I absolutely loved the third installment of this series! This book had me sitting at the edge of my seat the entire time! This is going to be a spoiler free review.
Firstly, I really liked the character development. SF Mazhar really upped the level with the characters this time around. I laughed with some of the characters and even shouted at some at one point. I was in tears while reading certain parts (again, spoiler free!!). My favorite development was definitely Aaron and Kyran's characters as well as their relationship. Skylar was another character that was well developed.
The entire book was very well developed, from the settings to the twists in the plot. The story was well paced. I was never bored at any point. Even when I went to get lunch, I had a copy of the book with me, continuing where I had left off.
The character backgrounds in this book really bring the rest of the story together. Some of the unanswered questions from the previous books were answered in this one and they were answered in ways I wouldn't have expected.
Overall, this books was amazing!!! I would highly recommend it to others.

Where do I even begin! This series has had my emotions go up and down! Happy and sad! Excited and shocked. The characters are amazing! Each one has their own back story, which you can see is written in depth!

Any questions you have had from the previous books are all answered in this one, but alas the ending had me question some more for the fourth book!.

I love the message of family bonds and love! Not going to lie, this book had me in tears in some parts and all I could ask was WHY SFMAZHAR WHY!!

She's is an amazing writer and individual!

But you made my day with page 335, 5 paragraph

The war isn’t looking good for the mages. They lost the Hub, they lost their ability to travel quickly, and in trying to retrieve the Hub, they lost the man who had been leading them ever since the Elemental Council fell apart. There’s not much left, besides Aaron Adams who has barely started understanding his mage powers and now he’s expected to wield the Legacy of Water. Kyran on the other hand knows that his little brother is now at the top of Hadrian’s kill-list and that has made him frantic. But collaborating with Aaron on possible ways to remove the Water Legacy from Aaron’s core leads him deeper and deeper into his own past where he is starting to understand things that are going to rock the world he has built up since he was “abandoned” at four.
I just want to sit and sulk after the end. The problem with digital books is that you don’t have to wait for the library to order it, you don’t have to carve out time to go to the bookstore to buy the book. It’s literally in my hand as soon as it comes out.
Now I have to wait, probably at least another half year to a year, for the next book and I don’t know what to do with myself.
It’s a horrible ending (as all cliffhangers are to readers) that has me imagining all the super happy to gut-wrenching angsty things that could happen next.
The pros: I really, really enjoyed that there was more Aaron and Kyran in this. They balance each other out for good scenes. They’re just perfect brothers still trying to figure out how to be siblings. I’m still not quite sold on Kyran and Rose. Though, I love the character growth (is it actually growth, or just change) that Sam is put through. Skyler is turning out to be quite the…character. Something is going to have change for him soon, though, the current path would have to be a long turn-around to get anywhere redeemable to me. Right now he’s about on the same level as Hadrain sometimes. And the little hints that were dropped to build the outline of a mystery/story-in-the-past were interesting.
The con: Events seemed to move really fast throughout the book. I don’t know if it’s because on a Kindle pages are smaller or what?
I’m now rereading the series since there isn’t much else to do besides real life…but that can be tedious sometimes.

TTW is perhaps the best among the three, and that's saying a lot, because both RTE and PWF are beyond brilliant! To me what's incredible is how far ahead SF Mazhar thinks, plans and how everything she writes has a purpose.

Spoilers ahead ----

I guessed when she wrote that part about love stories, Rose's wish for an uncomplicated romance and the tragic Mirza, Sahiba story, that she was foreshadowing.

I won't reveal what he says to her because that's a major major spoiler, but his feelings sure did get pretty intense with time!

I love the way Mazhar explores different aspects of what she has created in Kyran as she writes his interactions with Rose and Aaron. Sensitive, broody and sweet (with Rose) to the point that a girl can't help but fall in love. Snarky, protective and deliciously bromancy with Aaron.

Coming to that, I wonder if Aaron will ever truly come out of Kyran's shadow. Sometimes, just sometimes, I wish he would not give in to Kyran so easily. I also missed his humour, maybe more than that the light hearted banter between him and Sam. The latter especially didn't get much space and well I missed him:)

Chris and Kate. To be honest, till now I felt the least for these two. It sounds mean, considering they were the parents who lost their child. Yet, somehow, they just didn't affect me as much till I read Thicker Than Water.

Coming to one of the key elements of the series, the complex relationship between Hadrian and Kyran. The dynamic she has created here forms perhaps the crux of the story.

My mind is racing!!!!! So much awesomeness all wrapped into one book! My mind can't handle it! Out of the three books so far by Mazhar this one is my favorite by far. Run to Earth and Playing With Fire were fantastic, fun, and interesting reads, but Thicker Than Water is all of those and much more! I honestly loved every minute of it and was never bored! The book addressed a lot of questions I had that stemmed from the first two books, which was super great! The suspense had me continually flipping pages. And the characters....wow.... I was crying in some areas and laughing in others! I LOVED it! :) Everything was just amazing and I HIGHLY recommend that you give this series a go because it's going to take your imagination to places you never thoughy it could go to before! I can't praise it enough! Thanks S.F Mazhar for all you do! You are honestly one of the best ;) I can't wait for the next book! How long must I wait?!
