i left by the mark 50% but this was good. a nice read objectively, just not MY kind of nice read. got a heck of a diff definition for that word than this.
if u like memoryloss/blankcanvas draco getting forced to be a muggle (as a form of punishment from the ministry), him falling for hermione coz she was his ‘social worker’ & the only person he interacted / is forced to interact with…. also coz she (and some ‘polices’) is the only person who knows bout the ‘head injury’ (coz he has no core memory bout his personal life before he woke up from the ‘coma’ whatsoever, as little as fav color/madre’s name so how tf would he date / have any other relationship), then do it? i cant think of any specific name of the syndrome other than stockholm but yeahhh issa no from me
the premise i liked at first (proven by the way i didnt ditch it sooner), the execution was far from perfect but still really could be worse,, writing too. characters had banter i guess, but it was stale anyway for me
real rating : 2.2✨
ps. how do u expect the mission to fully work, on full effect by giving them shitty ass names like drake malfford, and tulip pafinsosdnnsnsnsns. i mean it did w the others but be real
"I don’t know how I forgave you, or even that I forgave you at all. Because it wasn’t about that to me. It wasn’t about reconciling your past with your present. It was about loving the person in front of me. And that’s what I ended up doing.”
Summary:
After the war, the Death Eaters start to reorganize. Some, like Lucius Malfoy, launch opens strikes against the Order, while some work in secret. Due to their backgrounds and associations, it is believed Narcissa, Draco, Blaise, and Pansy may be feeding information to those on the front lines or using their homes as training posts. While there is no legitimate proof of their involvement, the Order decided everyone would be safer if the Ministry took care of them somehow. After much deliberation, they decide to cast a form of obliviation on the accused and relocate/integrate them into the Muggle world.
Hermione is assigned as Drake Malford's (Draco) social worker to keep tabs on how he adjusts to his new life. However, during their monthly visits, Hermione discovers two disconcerting things: first, she's starting to enjoy spending time with Drake, and second, the memory spell didn't work like it was supposed to.

My Thoughts:
This was a fantastic story!!! I randomly came across this fanfic and am genuinely surprised it's not more popular! The writing, storyline, characters, banter, drama, and romance were all top-notch!
Draco's memory alteration was a fresh take! Most Dramione fanfictions with memory loss/alteration have to do with Hermione, so it was new and exciting to read a story where Draco is the one affected. However, I highly doubt the Ministry would sanction the obliviation and relocation of anyone associating with Death Eaters without any tangible proof. This part was a tad unrealistic, but it is fanfic, so things don't have to be totally canon.
I enjoyed the thought-provoking topic of nature versus nurture. When Draco's memories are taken away, who is he? Without any pureblood teaching and blood supremacy ideologies, Drake, aka Draco, is just a man trying his best to get by in the world. To him, Hermione isn't a mudblood witch who is less than him but a beautiful woman who makes him smile. It was fascinating to see Draco's true self shine without his tainted past and beliefs and watch as Hermione tries to reconcile the old and new Draco.
I love Drake/Draco. Without his haunted past, Draco is kind, playful, and vulnerable. Of course, he's still a sarcastic prick, but it's all in good fun. Plus, he bakes and cooks all sorts of delicious food! And when Draco walks into a scummy duck pond to save a child's stuffed animal . . . he had my heart, and Hermione's as well. ❤️
The banter is amazing! I love that Draco is snarky and how he relentlessly teases Hermione. At first, Hermione is apprehensive about his behavior because the Draco she knew taunted her out of spite, but obliviated Draco does it to be playful and flirty. Their interactions are so fun to watch unfold! I couldn't get enough!
While the romance was fluffy, it's laced with angst. Because Draco is obliviated, he has zero problems dating Hermione. However, Hermione (and the reader) knows how problematic it is. Not only did Draco hate people like Hermione, but she had a hand in obliviating him and is currently monitoring his life. There's a lot wrong with this situation, but Hermione can't help but fall in love with Drake/Draco. I was obsessed with their love and wanted them together, but the entire time I was just waiting for sh*t to hit the fan - hence the angst.
Overall, this is a must-read Dramione fanfic if you're looking for a unique story, fluff, a little bit of angst, and romance.

This was very sweet!!! I’d call it a high 3 star read. Very quick, very fun, & gosh I just adore Draco so damn MUCH. I think this would be 4 stars if not for the end, which I felt was kinda rushed & thrown together. Why didn’t the ministry just offer him a job in the first place if they trust him enough to do that? Why would draco even agree after everything?? Besides that, I thought this was a great little fic, it’s 3 stars with love.
Several Death Eaters have been given a sentence to where their minds are wiped and they are put in magical witness protection basically. Hermione is assigned to be Drake Malford's social worker to make sure he gets settled in alright. Turns out, he's not a bad dude without all of his memories. Kind to children, thoughtful, and all about a certain curly haired woman.
After something goes wrong, he gets his memories back and is not extraordinarily pleased to find out he fell in love. All in all, I liked it. I feel like it ended a little abruptly for my tastes.
As a reminder, JKR makes nothing from the reading/reviewing of fanfiction.
5⭐️ This was so incredibly good for a shorter fic! The build of the relationship and the metaphors (or analogies?) through Shakespeare was spot on Hermione. I loved the plot with Draco losing his memory, but wonder if the Ministry would really go that far. I liked seeing sweet bit snippy new Draco, new Draco with Hermione, Hermione acting towards new Draco and old Draco figuring out new Draco with Hermione figuring out new but old Draco. Hahaha it’ll make sense! I’m glad it was a HEA and the way the ending was described was cute and convincingly merged the Dracos nicely. Worth the read?: YES Reread?: NO (heartache)
I am the absolute last person to pick a cute, happy fic. I most definitely am a Voldemort wins, bleak, dark, angst, brink of death, mortal danger fic person, but this was just incredibly sweet in so many ways it made me very happy. It's also incredibly simple in all the right ways, there's not a lot of exposition, and it's highly dialogue driven, which is perfect for the style of fic it's going for. I also wholeheartedly support their characterizations in this fic. I'm giving this a 4.5. I only picked this because it was available on ETL Echo and I can listen to it while I clean or do work. Consider me pleasantly surprised.
This was hard to rate because I absolutely loved the first 75% of this book, but the last 25% were sorely lacking and also felt rushed. It was about 2.5 stars. First of all, I loved the concept of Draco and some other Death Eaters being wiped of their wizarding life and placed in the muggle world as a sort of punishment/new start to life. I also loved the banter between Draco and Hermione, as well as their chemistry. The conflicts of her being his "social worker" but falling for him anyways, and his memory-altered mind having issues was done well.
Now, we are going to get into spoilers here, but here is where I had issues. 1.) Draco is remembering parts of being a wizard and thinks he's going insane, and it gets so bad that he hurts himself. By this point, he and Hermione have started a relationship (though they haven't labeled it) so she's desperately trying to help repair his mind. She ends up reversing the memory charm and giving his memories back. Understandably, he's upset and confused, trying to figure out who he is as a wizard and who he became as a muggle. But from that point to the moment he and Hermione reconcile and decide to be together, 8 MONTHS PASS. Not only 8 months, but it's basically just Hermione going through life in suspense- we don't get to see Draco and his thoughts as he tries to meld his two lives together and figure out his feelings. The whole book was dual POV up to this point but it's basically just Hermione there at the end, and we don't really get to delve into her emotions and thoughts much either. They do have a few run ins/meet ups, but they lead nowhere and seemed pointless to me. 2.) Hermione, Harry, and Ron's friendship didn't feel like it got fully explored, especially considering the messiness that is Hermione and Ron's break up. It's mentioned enough that Hermione isn't as well received at the Burrow by Molly because she broke up with Ron, and even Ginny doesn't involve her in her wedding planning either! In fact, Ron starts dating one of Ginny's teammates, Geri, and this girl does wedding planning stuff with her instead. Hermione feels left out/pushed out and that doesn't get confronted. Also, sometimes it seemed like Ron was still hung up on her and that would have been interesting to go into, but it's only teased at and then left alone. Hermione only really had a good friendship with Harry, and I think her friend group didn't actually feel like friends. 3.) Finally, the whole premise of the story felt undermined by the conflict at the end. Apparently, there was a council that didn't know what to do with Draco, Narcissa, Blaine, and Pansy- they thought Azkaban was inhumane and didn't want to resort to killing them. So, they come up with the idea to erase their memories of being a wizard and placing them in the muggle world so they're no longer a threat. And yet, when Shacklebolt is told that Hermione gave Draco his memories back, he basically scolds and transfers her to a different department and gives Draco a job at the Ministry. Like, what?! I thought Draco was so dangerous they were considering killing him and the others before deciding on the memory charm, and yet when he gets his memories back it's no big deal? All is forgiven? And not only that, he wants to give his mom her memories back too, and they agree to it. I couldn't wrap my head around that, it didn't support the premise of this whole thing.
So, sadly, this one didn't work for me.

The ministry obliviated Draco's memories as a wizard and live now as a Muggle. Hermione here is asigned to check on his progress and see if he can pretend to live a normal life in the Muggle world.
Draco or Drake'O may I say, is an angry, pretentious prat, and I loved him! He wanted to figure out what was going on with his memory and I liked how his personality was depicted throughout the book.
Hermione was a lost puppy, she felt really guilty for Draco. I think she could've made better decisions. She had all the knowledge of the situation and could've come clean in another way.
The plot, the comedy and the banter were really promising. I laughed out loud until 40% and then the plot begun to drag. Hermione was lost and so was I. She didn't know what to do, and I asked myself the same thing, where was this story going?
They were beautiful moments: I liked when Draco confided his thoughts on the notebook. I liked all the scenes in the Muggle world, I think it could have been more.
The "trip" to New Zealand and her "research" didn't make any sense and didn't add to the plot. It could have but it sadly didn't!
And unfortunately the end killed the story for me. At 90% everything felt flat and rushed. The make up sex scenes was cringey and felt forced, I wanted further explications of Draco's change of heart. His reasons were not really convincing enough for me and I was disappointed by that.
The plot was original and promising but it didn't live to my expectations at the end. The comedy until 40 % was gold! The ending felt rushed and sloppy.
If you like a short, fun quick read that will not break you in pieces. This one is for you!

very mid. I think I got too used to the level of development you can have with a 900 page book. This one was too fast and as much as it had an interesting concept, the flaws were intrinsic: the ministry would never make that kind of decision, Hermione had a very indefinite job, and I don't think she would have agreed and followed orders blindly. and wow i think its because i have hermione's relationship with the remain nameless weasleys in my head but the way these ginny and molly treated this Hermione was very ooc in my opinion.
both the dhr relationship and draco's development as a person would have been so much better if he had spent more time and enjoyed being human. it could be a much more beautiful message of redemption with him leaving eugenics thoughts behind after having positive experiences with muggles but the way it was done it was fine nothing to see him clinging to his human life and he was miserable all the time as drake.
The text reads quite like a play. it has almost no introspection and it's almost completely dialogue. and the dialogue is very good don't get me wrong, one of the most natural dialogues i've ever read, but i missed a few moments of unspoken thoughts.
I gave it 2 but that doesn't mean it's bad, I'm just very critical. It passes well as a fanfic but it would not be confused with a published book

I loved this story! This was my first Draco memory loss fic and with it being full of fluff and angst (nothing overly heavy), I was thoroughly entertained throughout listening. The banter between Draco and Hermione was delightfully funny filled with the perfect amount of snark.
I really loved the characterization of Draco/Drake in this fic. Without being plagued by his dark past, Draco was playful, flirty, and vulnerable at times. He had my heart from the beginning. Having lost his memory, Draco flirtatiously teased Hermione, a stark contrast to how he teased her before being obliviated.
Hermione grappled with her feelings for him, not knowing if she should feel the way she felt because of his obliviated state. It made for great angst that had me waiting for shit to hit the fan.
Overall, I think the pacing was a little fast, but that could just be me being used to super long stories. It was written in a way that reads very much like a play, which I enjoyed. It was missing some inner monologue that I would’ve loved to read. That being said, I really loved all of the Shakespeare references.
This was everything I didn't know that I needed. Was the ending rushed? Yes. I wish that the last 3 chapters had been a few more, elaborated in some areas, but I still wouldn't change my rating of the story overall. It might just be I wanted it to continue because I loved it so much.
The banter between them was funny, cute, and sometimes refreshingly frustrating. I felt like the pacing leading up to their relationship was great. I fell in love with the author's writing of this Draco - because of how much he cared and how much he battled with his feelings but didn't let them get the best of him. It was refreshing to read a story where they come together and I wouldn't consider him to be toxic for her (even though that's usually my go-to as a Dramione shipper.)
I waited far too long to read this, and I wish I hadn't! If you haven't read it yet - definitely give it a shot! It has replaced Remain Nameless as my favorite fluff piece.
I rather enjoyed the themes across this book and the writing style. The author did a superb job of fleshing out the old adage of not knowing what life is like until you walk in another’s shoes. Additionally, I found the questions posed about identity intriguing - is one the way one is due to nature or nurture? And how much of an impact do both really have on one going forward, seeking change and new dreams?
Also, I’m just a sucker for anything that plays around with Shakespeare’s ideas. I found the reckoning between Draco Malfoy, bigot, and Draco Malfoy, obliviated wizard who thinks he’s a muggle accountant, a remarkable and intriguing idea. Additionally, the way the author captured the experience of an outsider (and loner) starting life again incredibly realistic in more than one way that hit home.
I was increasingly charmed by this fic the more I read it. From seeing the sheer sweetness of a muggle Malfoy to the toe-tingling zing of them finally choosing each other, I loved watching their journey. I do wish I was more familiar with Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, because I suspect it may have deepened the meaning for me, but regardless I found it to be a very sweet, and quite believable read.
- post war, soft fic, fluffy adjacent - Ministry-enforced memory loss, causing Draco to live as a Muggle - wading into the duck pond to save the stuffed animal - running and baking Draco (Drake-O) - "social worker" Hermione, checking in on Draco every week - Draco reconciling his two selves - great banter

Although I've can't say this book would make the top ten I've ever read, I did start it at 11pm and finish it before 2:30am. However, I'm not sure if that is saying something about me or the book.
I would love to debate the ethical sides of the concepts in this story. It opens the door to a spectacular world of how to correctly punish people who technically did no wrong.
This story just didn't sit well with me. The idea of it is good (which is why I decided to read it in spite of that hilarious cover art), but the execution felt icky. Like it felt very much like Hermione was taking advantage of Draco, and at the very least it felt deeply out of character for Hermione to be so unprofessional. I didn't buy a lot of the story, and it felt rushed in so many ways.
I listened for free on Spotify on the ETL echo podcast. It was entertaining! Draco with memory loss is a fresh take. I just didn’t feel that much substance between them… enjoyed it but won’t revisit it.
It made me so angry and also giddy and smiley. Incredibly frustrating but worth it. Perfect length for it! Ron bashing is my favorite. I found the concept incredibly creative and I’ve yet to read one set in the muggle world so it was a nice surprise!
- 2 stars - writing was awful, but plot was interesting, so I skimmed to finish, but should’ve just DNFed. It really read like a fanfic. - despite not liking it, I am such a sucker for DHr, and I still got feels at a couple of points ✅ feels
3.5. This cover art is absolutely embarrassingly hysterical. BUT the book was actually kind of a cool concept and cute. I hated how rushed a few parts at the end were. It was lacking a proper wrap up!
