A man dies in prison, but not before spilling something important to his cellmate. When the cellmate gets out, he moves to a quiet town and buys a local business. He also recovers a small green box from a hiding place.

He then smuggles some henchmen into town and starts a mini-crime wave, robbing the homes of several of the wealthier residents.

But the situation isn't as straightforward as it seems. No one in town, including the ex-con, is who they seem to be. Who are the real good guys and who are the real bad guys? It'll take The Shadow to figure everything out. When that happens, it'll lead to a wild action scene stretching across several climactic chapters--a stand-off followed by a massive shootout followed by an unusual chase scene.

It's a fun Shadow novel with a wicked plot twist at the end.

Intrigue involving a retail clothing store. THAT’s as dull as it sounds, but there’s a twist ending and this story introduces Hawkeye, Slade Farrow, and Tapper.

When it comes to pulp heroes there are 2 or 3 great standouts and the Shadow is one of those. The stories are fast paced and action filled. The mystery just adds to the excitement. With his army of agents to help the Shadow never lets you down for a great read. Highly recommended
