Looking for a great piece to work on in your scene study class? For an audition? You want something fresh, juicy, well-written -- something you haven't seen in every scene book. Give Chekov a rest and turn to memorable characters and scenes from the silver screen. This remarkable anthology offers an incredible range of contemporary dialogues from the pens of the industry's finest talents -- scenes that pulsate with emotional life, scenes that live on their own, out of context. Blistering drama and caustic comedy are excerpted from the classic screenplays of James L. Brooks and Oliver Stone, and there are cutting-edge scenes from the Coen Brothers, Kevin Smith and Spike Lee. These are the scenes of today's films, a wealth of material to motivate any actor -- great scenes that will inspire and challenge you. Within these pages, actors will find emotionally charged scenes from big studio megahits and small gems from acclaimed independent films. Featuring characters ranging from the larger-than-life to low-key introverts, 99 Film Scenes for Actors is a cornucopia of cinematic classics for actors eager for their close-up.
This book has some great scenes in it while also having some that are outdated. Then again this book was published in 1999. I do recommend this for any actor who likes to read or is just looking for a scene to perform.
I like it a lot. Though some of the scenes are older, I don't think they're outdated. They provide a window into the culture and timeline of a bygone era. This is very useful for actors 9in my opinion).
99 Films Scene for Actors written by Angela Nicholas was a great book. The reason I say this is because the book gives great description on how the scene is played by giving notes and the script of the actors doing their scene. Also this book is great if you would like to learn more about an acting position or as an acting teacher learn more about famous scenes made by the actors. The reason I read the book was to see if the emotion of an actor can make their characters make the scene feel more alive for filming purposes. By reading this book I could see the importance of an actor as the book gives description of the Movie, director, year of the movie, screenplay, and the characters. It helped me see how the dialogue of the characters can make it seems as if you are seeing a conversation between people be real or not.
I great book for those who are looking for a scene form a modern day film to produce for an in class acting and or directing class. Both for male and female scenes as well as for two females and two males and the like.
