A desperate young woman A second chance A life-changing decision. Angeline Chandler didn’t invite the attack that created her condition but she’s suffering the result. Disowned by her family and left alone and destitute, she gets a second chance when a kind woman rescues her and invites her to travel to Tarnation, Texas with six other young women for the purpose of marriage. The prospect of marrying one man while carrying another’s child worries Angeline. Who would want her with another man’s baby? Grady McIntyre is a minister whose wife died soon after their son was born. The woman who has been helping with his toddler has told him she’s too old to continue. When Angeline’s name is suggested as a part-time nanny, he seizes the chance to hire her. Their attraction is instantaneous but Angeline resists. A minister needs a virtuous woman, not a fallen one. The town of Tarnation, Texas has no single females of marriageable age. The single men of the town are threatening to move to larger towns to find a wife which would cause Tarnation to die out. Young widow Lydia Harrison travels to her home state of Virgina where she places an ad in the newpaper and interviews several young women who are interested in moving west to marry. Seven young women ultimately head west with Lydia and her friend Sophie; each girl escaping something or someone and looking for acceptance and love.

A well written series with interesting characters. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series as well.

Forgiveness

Angelina was one of the Bride Brigade and the only one that had an urgency to become a wife. After befriending almost everyone in town she finds some who are willing to push her right out of town. This is a great historical story which many like myself will love!

Angelina and Grady's story

Angelina, a young lady who was assaulted then jilted, has found herself in trouble. Her parents kick her out of their house and she has nowhere to go. As she's contemplating jumping in front of a train she is grabbed by a woman not much older than herself who offers her a place to live in Tarnation, Texas. She has joined the "Bride Brigade", a group of young women on their way to get married. Grady is the local preacher whose wife died shortly after giving birth. He doesn't plan on getting married again but when he meets the beautiful Angeline, his plans might have to be reworked. Will the fact that Angeline is pregnant and unwed turn the town against her and Grady, who wants to marry her anyway, or will they really in defense of their preacher and his wife?

A special bride

As an extra for the bride brigade Angeline can't believe her luck. She comes to Tarnation Texas and finds the people warm and inviting. She can't believe her luck when the minister is interested in her. Caroline gives a great story and an enjoyable couple of hours.

Angeline

Angeline is a sweet historical romance about a group of women who travel to Texas to be matched as brides to the town's bachelors. The story is good. There were a few edits missed by the proofreader, but I did enjoy the book.
