Lovecraftian tales are always a dark look at how alone mankind is, but yet, offers a glimpse of beings beyond our comprehension. Considering that most of modern horror is derivative of his work, it's hard to imagine just how different our view of fiction as well as reality might be. Even though this is one of the weakest works of Lovecraft, it's still a gripping read full of his signature tones of dread.
