Wow! For all book readers out there, this is one that you definitely should read. Betsy Bobbin is the oldest of the three Bobbin girls. Betsy is the librarian at the local library in Bartlett, TN. She is taken aback when Nash Ware, a Marine who has returned home walks into the library.

Nash is not used to the kind of librarian that Betsy turned out to be. He sees her dark blonde hair, her green eyes, and her red lips as soon as he walks in the door of the library. That day he has a terrible headache and was a little rude with his reply to the sweet librarian. He wears an eye patch courtesy of a wound while on his last tour.

Nash and Betsy figure out that each is interested in at least a friendship, but Leann, Betsy’s younger sister is coming to town for a visit, and puts a damper on any future plans.

What is Leann keeping secret from her sister? Can Nash be the hero that Betsy is looking for?

I've read this authors books before, and like a Hallmark movie I sit down to read with great anticipation. This book took several stereotypes and made them human. A wounded veteran with PTSD, and a librarian with family issues. While they both feel a chemistry, they are both jaded, and tangling with emotions, past issues, and getting their lives onto a better path.
Don't think this is a dark, tear-jerker it is not. While there is some darkness in their pasts, their futures look full of light. Of course, that road to happiness is never smooth.
No spoilers here....but if you want a read with lots of substance, a bit of suspense, and the possibility of happiness where the hero and heroine never thought there would be.........Check Out is a perfect read. I highly recommend this book.

When Debra asked me to review this book, I of course, couldn’t refuse her, because I happen to know she is an amazing writer. And once I find someone whose writing has my attention, I am a fan for life. So as always, I was honored to do her the honor of this.

And once she sent it to me, I fell in love with the cover instantly. It is a beautiful cover, looking at just makes you feel like pulling up a chair next to the fire place, and sitting down with a good book, like this one!

In the book, “Check Out” we meet a marine vet by the name of Nash Ware, who is also quite a bit handsome. But Nash wears an eye patch, and his ex-fiancé was intimidated by it, and walked out of a perfectly good relationship because of it. Because of this, Nash feels that women are no longer part of his calling.

However, one day Nash decides to go into the library where a shy Betsy Bobbin works, and she can’t help but notice Nash. And not just because of his eye patch, she also noticed his masculine body, and even his attitude. She is immediately drawn to him.

You know how luck or fate help to guide you onto the right path, and put two people together? Well what happens next seems like fate, a chance meeting, and it just makes everything fall right into place perfectly.

Betsy ends up with a flat tire, but not only is it flat, but it is during a storm. And guess who comes to the rescue? Every woman loves to be rescued, especially by a hunk like Nash.

Betsy gets to learn about Nash, and that he has PTSD, and that he isn’t sure if he wants to let anyone in his life. Betsy feels torn, but she also feels that she just might have found the love of her life.

Nash does have feelings for Betsy too, but he has his own wounds, and problems to deal with. He isn’t sure what to do.

The book “Check Out” is a deep love story portraying that our Military Vets do get wounded in so many ways, both physically and mentally. And from those wounds come even deeper problems. Not only does Debra tell you an enlightening and touching story here, she also gives you the perspective into the military veterans, and how one is coping. It is a truly eye opening five star read. I found it very enjoyable and think everyone should read it! I could not put it down; I just had to know what was going to happen every step of the way! Debra truly made this work!

This is the first book I have read from this author and she blew my mind. I love a good military book but this story exceeded all my expectations. This is the first book of the Bobbin sisters series. I was hooked on the first page and I could not stop until the end. I can’t wait to see what this author will write next.

Betsy Bobbins absolutely loves her job. She has always wanted to be a librarian. Betsy is drawn to a handsome man that keeps coming in and getting books from her. She is a little nervous because he wears an eye patch over one eye. Betsy is about to go home in a very bad snow storm but just her luck her car has a flat. She is shocked that the handsome guy helps her and she finds out that his name is Nash. He was a marine that got hurt in the line of duty. Betsy is falling for this guy but she discovers he has PTSD. She knows he would never hurt her but is she strong enough to help him through it? Also Betsy’s little sister has a stalker and she has to turn to Nash for help. Will they be able to find out who it is before it’s too late?

Absolute MUST READ! First read by Debra but definitely not my last! This book had me from the beginning! Page after page of angst, attraction & dispair flow through this Touching Romance. Two kindred souls with unbelievably HOT Chemistry. Is it fate that Nash, a Ruggedly Handsome Vet just happens to be there to assist Betsy in times if distress or is it something more? Both have troubled pasts that could keep them apart. HIGHLY recommend! I voluntarily read this ARC & this is my honest review

I love military romances probably because I have been connected to the military in very personal ways my whole life. It takes a deep understanding when service members come home sometimes with injuries that are invisible like PTSD. The author does a brilliant job depicting Nash’s military persona from being physically injured and the issues when it comes to dealing with the VA hospital.
Betsy is downright terrified when she meets Nash for the first time. Not only is he big and intimidating but is also missing an eye. The first time they meet he is not pleasant; he is angry and snaps at her over books. However, he changes her perspective of him when he waits to make sure she gets to her car okay as she is the last to leave for the night. He cleans off her windshield of ice, and then after noticing her flat tire offers to drive her home. From there he continues to attempt to woo her but feels shut down even though it’s unintentional because her sister comes into town. They have many battles as Nash feels like Leeann her sister is just as drama filled as his ex-fiancée was. But when trouble comes calling in Leeann’s campus stalker Nash fulfills his protector roll ensuring both sisters are taken care of. Can Nash make Betsy see him as not so scary? This is a must-read book if you like military romances. It will make you laugh, make you cry, and even make you lose some sleep for wanting to know what comes next.

This was a short listen that was entertaining. I enjoyed the story line. The characters were written nicely. Betsy was a bit flighty at times but I still enjoyed her.

Betsy is a shy librarian that gets the shock of her life when Nash walks into her library. Nash is a very handsome ex marine that has a chip on his shoulder and an eye patch that he doesn't think any woman can see past, but that is not the case with Betsy. She finds him fascinating and is even more intrigued with him when he comes to her rescue on multiple occasions.

Thanks to family drama that Betsy must deal with, his PTSD and lack of self confidence in himself, things get a bit tangled up. Throw a stalker into the mix, and you have a mini, action packed 4 hours of good listening time. Do I wish there had been more meat to the story? Yes, I always like lots of info, details, and dialogue. But, I will say, for such a short listen it had high entertainment value.

Written as a multi pov. This is a stand alone and does have a HEA.

So... Would I recommend this book? Yes

Would I read more from this this author? Yes

Such an amazing read. You get right into it from the first page. You instantly feel the heat between Betsey and Nash. Being a total book nerd loved that these two met in a library. It's fast paced and easy to read. You long for it to continue and are sad when it ends leaving you wanting more. This author really knows how to lure the readers in. You will not be disappointed in this book!

I enjoyed this contemporary romance and the storyline had me happily turning the pages. Injured Marine, Nash is suffering with PTSD and is rebuilding his life having returned home, when he meets shy librarian Betsy Bobbin. Betsy is initially intimidated by the man with the eye patch and an attitude but she’s also attracted to him. Nash has sworn off women and love after his ex-fiancé was disgusted by his scars but he is drawn to Betsy.
Betsy learns more about Nash when he comes to her rescue when a flat tyre leaves her stranded, and she can’t help but feel the chemistry between them. But when he then rescues her younger sister Leann from a bar, Betsy gets scared by how angry Nash gets and the fight he has with the drunk. She wonders if it’s safe to start a relationship with a war veteran with PTSD. Nash is just as wary at putting his heart on the line again but Betsy brings out his protective instincts.
The couple get closer when Betsy turns to Nash to help when her sister has a stalker, but then Leann comes between the pair. This is a heartwarming romance with a hint of suspense and great characters who are realistic and relatable. The chemistry between Nash and Betsy really comes across in the narrative and I liked the sisters relationship as well. I thought the issues surrounding PTSD were dealt with honestly and sensitively and this added to the storyline.

This story was out of this world. Full of emotions, past issues, lots of tears and more I found myself feeling like I was immersed in a hallmark movie. While I have read this author before I personally couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. The cover and the synopsis grabbed my attention right away. But once I delved into the story I couldn't put it down. While our main male is a tall, handsome veteran with some PTSD issues out female is a librarian with some real family issues. But can love conqur all? You'll have to read this book to find out for yourself.

Very pleasantly surprised!! This story of Nash, whom is a Marine Veteran and Betsy, a local librarian. Nash is a protector and very caring and is hoping that Betsy can see past his eye patch. He is there to help Betsy especially when a situation arises with Betsy’s sister, Leann and a stalker she was dealing with at her college. Betsy only wants to help and protect her sister with Nash’s help. Will Nash be able to protect Betsy and Leann?

I found this story flowed so easily and it was very enjoyable. If you like a great story of intrigue, some mystery with spark between Nash and Betsy.. this is for you! Looking forward to reading book 2! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I truly enjoyed Check Out by Debra Parmley. It felt like I was treating myself to read it.

Betsy is a librarian in her local library. She has some trouble getting along with her family and struggles with her past. Nash is an injured veteran suffering from PTSD from his time in the military - he is new in town, jaded, and mysterious. They are interested in one another, but Betsy thinks it is best to wait to get to know each other better while she awaits a visit from her younger sister, Leeann. Once her sister shows up with news she may have a stalker, we find the catalyst that draws Nash and Betsy to one another.

I'd like to see where the relationship between Nash and Betsy goes, as the book ends pretty abruptly. That being said, this was a good read with characters that drew me in and kept me interested. It is pretty quick to get through, and the author has a 2nd book in the series that extends into a story with Leeann after this ends. I will continue to read Debra Parmley!

Betsy Bobbin is a librarian, she lives alone and when she is not at work, loves to curl up with a good book, or on occasion go to a movie or dinner, but she lives a quiet life and she is more than happy with it. Nash Ware is a former Marine who has been recovering from injury and moved to so that he can start afresh, but he has been having troubles and still needs to attend his appointments to try and level things out. One day while Betsy is at work, a very handsome man comes in with an eyepatch and an intense look in his other eye, she is intimidated and attracted to him all at the same time, but she cannot resist talking to him when he comes to the counter, although, she seems to say the wrong things each time, however, Nash is quite taken aback and taken with her at the same time, but he is not feeling his best and so is a little sharp with her, but when she seems to be in trouble in the parking lot after closing time comes around, he feels drawn to helping her out. Betsy has closed up and is heading out into the snow and for her car, but when Nash shows up to help her, she is afraid of the man, but accepts his kindness and help, especially when she tries to drive off and realises that she has a flat tyre, Nash offers her a lift home and so she calls her friend to let her know what is happening as she loads her things into his Jeep. He does exactly as he says he will and makes sure she is safe all the while and even offers to take her to get her car sorted the next day, Betsy declines, but she does swap numbers before he leaves.

As the days pass, Betsy and Nash cannot stop thinking about the other and so asks her out, but things don’t go quite to plan as Betsy has her sister visiting and cannot make it, but the next time he goes to see her at the library, he meets her sister and then overhears their conversation of their evening plans and he thinks this would be a good idea of somewhere to go with his friends, but when he sees the sisters getting into a spot of bother, he comes to Betsy’s rescue again, she is more than thankful and her sister is too, however, the side she sees of Nash scares her into thinking that maybe this is a bad idea. The next day after work, when she confronts her sister about what happened the night before, her sister opens up about why she has come to visit and Betsy is worried about her. Meanwhile, Nash is thinking of ways in which he can convince Betsy that she is the girl for him, however, things never seem to go to plan and the drama that Betsy’s little sister keep bringing is starting to worry Nash and it makes him think of the thing his ex-fiancé said and did and how he doesn’t want that kind of attitude around him anymore, but things happen and wires become crossed and nothing is smooth sailing for a while.

As time goes on and Nash and Betsy try to get to know one another more, more and more drama appears and it looks like nothing is going to stop it, but Nash being the gentleman he is steps up and offers to help out in any way he can, but will the drama stop this couple from making an attempt at a love which could become a future, or will barriers and obstacles keep getting in the way of happiness? This is a sweet romance with a touch of adventure and suspense weaved throughout which will keep you hooked and wanting to know more right up until the end.

This is my first time reading a work by Debra Parmley and I am glad I took some time to check-in with the first book in the Bobbins Sisters Series. "Check Out" is a strong debut for Parmley who begins her series with a plot involving strong characters like a Nash, a military veteran who is living with PTSD. Juxtaposed against him is the whimsical, librarian Betsy and her younger, and insecure sister Leanne. The characters meet and begin moving the story along with a bit of romantic tension. The plot is not quite concluded which makes sense when this is the first book in a series, leaving the reader ready for the follow-up!

I will read anything that sounds remotely interesting plus I really liked the cover of this book. I figured with a cover like that it couldn’t be bad. Plus with an interesting protagonist especially one that wears an eye patch that isn’t a pirate well definitely count me in. The book had a nice steady pace and the characters especially the male protagonist was really what made the story so worth the read but more about that in a moment.
Betsy Bobbin late one night while working as the librarian at the library spies Nash Ware instantly she is intrigued and fascinated by him. Betsy wonders about Nash but as soon as she gets the chance to talk with him he yells at her and is very rude to her. Betsy doesn’t know what to think about the encounter but brushes it off and goes back to her work. Pretty soon it is closing time and with the weather getting increasingly worse outside Betsy closes the library but as soon as she leaves she notices her car has a flat tire. Who comes to her rescue but the mysterious man that yelled at her before, Nash. Betsy and Nash are attracted to each other but there are things that Betsy doesn’t know about him will she still like him even after knowing him and will Nash be able to give Betsy a chance at a relationship.
I really did like Nash he did have that air of mystery about him and despite his brusque manner to Betsy I wanted to know more about his past especially what made him so apprehensive to trust women but still he was able to trust Betsy. Betsy on the other hand really annoyed me she came across as being very indecisive and kept leading Nash on. Maybe it had something to do with protecting her sister Leann who also annoyed me. For being a college age woman and not paying attention to her surroundings but advises Betsy when Nash did everything that was noble and honorable really I think it was just so misplaced. Leann wanted to protect and keep Betsy safe I seriously just wanted her to go back to school and leave Betsy alone so Betsy can at least make up her mind about Nash. Maybe it was more the relationship between the two that I didn’t understand and with a little bit more explanation of that in the story it would have made sense to me plus the book especially the ending felt a little rushed. I still enjoyed the story for the small sense of mystery, intrigue and romance but I think the book should have been a little bit longer that’s why I rated the book four stars and do want to try another book by Ms. Parmley though.

Check Out (Bobbins Sisters Series Book 1) by Debra Parmley is a contemporary romance story

When Nash, a wounded Marine who is rebuilding his life, goes into the library where meek librarian Betsy Bobbin works, she is scared by the attractive guy with an attitude and an eye patch. However, when her car breaks down in the library parking lot as she leaves work during a winter storm, the mystery Marine rushes to her aid. When Betsy and her younger sister Leann get into difficulty at a small country-western bar with a drunk who won't let Leann alone, he rushes to her rescue once more. Betsy, on the other hand, is terrified by the brawl outside the pub between an enraged Nash and the inebriated.

She's fallen for the recuperating war veteran, but is it safe to fall for a man suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder? Betsy is divided between two options. Will her fear be overcome by love and faith before it's too late? Nash has met the woman of his dreams, but his wounds are still open. His ex-fiancé was horrified by his eye patch and scars, so he created drama like honey bees. He's sworn off ladies and their drama, focusing instead on renovating a one-hundred-year-old 2003 Harley-Davidson Road King and attending college classes. He's captivated by the charming, quiet librarian Betsy when they meet at the library, and she triggers his protective instincts. If only her sister would cease obstructing her progress.

Betsy is surrounded by real drama as a stalker pursues her sister Leann. When Leann's tutor pursues her, the girls realize that stalking is a serious problem on college campuses. When Leann's college stalker arrives in town, Betsy turns to Nash once more. A Marine veteran hero with PTSD, a shy college librarian heroine, her younger, less mature sister, and a college campus stalker star in this military romance with a hint of suspense.

I loved this story and the concept of it as well. I loved every page of it. Every chapter was exciting. This is the first book in the series that I have read; I cant wait to read more.

Check Out (The Bobbins Sisters Series Book 1) by Debra Parmley

4 out of 5 Stars

Betsy Bobbins is adorable from the word go. She is a petite, bespectacled, librarian who is on the shy side. She is the oldest of three sisters, and has taken on the parent mantle since their folks died. Betsy is dazzled by the brooding stranger that entered the library late on the night of a big storm. She is lucky that he was still in the parking lot when she tried to leave for home because she would have never made it on the flat tire she discovers.

Nash Ware, a Marine veteran, is recovering from his time in the service and his fiance walking out on him. When he enters the library his eye is drawn to the librarian at the checkout counter. Yet, he growls at her for no reason. Nash finds his protective instincts coming out when he is around Betsy. These instincts only get stronger when Betsy’s youngest sister comes to town, bringing all her drama to Betsy’s door.

Debra Parmley writes tender military stories from the perspective of veteran’s wife. The gentle, yet informed, way Debra handles PTSD and fighting through the VA system shows her dedication to honoring those that have and are serving in the US military. Debra writes characters that are relatable and human. This was a sweet read with some intrigue!

Check Out is the first book in the Bobbins Sisters Series by Debra Parmley. It is a great contemporary romance novel which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was the first time that I have read this author’s work but I was intrigued by the blurb and decided to give it a try and I’m very glad that I made this decision.
Nash Ware is a marine veteran who is disillusioned with life after his fiancee broke it off with him when he returned from war wearing an eye patch to cover a nasty eye injury. Betsy Bobbin is the local librarian who is intrigued by the handsome man in the eye patch.
I loved Nash and Betsy’s story. Both are amazing characters that I really loved reading about. Their story had me gripped from the very beginning with his visit to the library which has Betsy all on edge, right up to the very end.
The story is very entertaining and flows very well. Betsy is attracted to Nash but finds it hard to let him in, so the path to true love runs far from smoothly for Nash and Betsy.
I’m looking forward to getting better acquainted with the other Bobbins sisters and hope we get more from Betsy and Nash in the rest of the series.

Check Out
by Debra Parmley

Nash Ware a Marine veteran who had lost an eye in the war. He now wares an eye patch, and suffers from extreme headaches. He is returning books to the library where librarian Betsy Bobbin works, she’s intimidated by the man who has an attitude, but is intrigued by how handsome he is. When she leaves the library that night her car has a flat, and there is an ice storm happening....Nash comes to her rescue. The next time they meet is at a fight outside a bar between a drunk who is trying to pick up Betsy's sister, Nash comes to the rescue again. She’s fallen for him but is scared to fall in love with a wounded veteran with PTSD?
Nash has found the girl of his dreams, but his wounds run deep. His ex-fiancé was repulsed by his eye and his eye patch, and manufactured drama like bees do honey. He thinks Betty's sister is also causing drama in Betsy's life. However, real drama surrounds Betsy, when a stalker comes after her sister....can Nash save them both.

This was a good read. The characters were well written..nice love story..

CHECK OUT tells the story of a shy librarian and an injured marine. Betsy is happy working at the library all her life. That is all shaken up when Nash brings his books back to the library, and her sister turns up for a stay, bringing baggage with her.

This had the potential for a great story. Instead, I read a good one. I don't know if it's the author's writing style or just how I was reading it, but I never once was drugged within the story, as I love. It was always very clear that I was reading a story. The characters were likeable but I couldn't really feel the chemistry between them. The dialogues were somewhat stilted at times which didn't help.

On the whole, this was a quick read that holds the potential for so much more. Still, it was enjoyable, and a good coffee break book.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *

Check Out By Debra Parmley is a wonderful read filled with genuine, heart warming characters and the Author truly makes you feel like you really know them. This is the first book by Ms Parmley that I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact the only thing I could possibly complain about is that it ended too soon! I can't wait to see what lies ahead for the Bobbin Sisters in future books.

Betsy Bobbin is a cute, quiet librarian working in a job she truly loves with all her heart when she meets Gorgeous Nash Ware a Marine Veteran. At their first meeting Nash comes across as very gruff when the truth is, there is a wonderful caring man who is dealing with a lot under all that gruff. Betsy sees that and attraction builds between the two. Betsys sister Leann comes to visit but someone dangerous follows her and it becomes very obvious he means her serious harm. Betsy Bobbin is a librarian that enjoys books and would rather stay home then go out to party. It's really not her scene at all. Being a librarian is an interesting job because of the people you meet along the way. When a handsome man with an eye patch enters the library Betsy's intrigued to say the least. Nash Ware is a former Marine just trying to suffer any more with drama and pain on most days. Nash thinks that the shy librarian couldn't be interested in him. Yet he's surprised to find out that she's most definitely interested. Nash gets brave enough to ask Betsy. Betsy's sister Leann is being stalked but not sure if Betsy will believe her. What does Leann being stalked mean for Betsy and Nash? Will Betsy trust her feelings? Your answers await you in Check Out.

This new to me author really brought this story to life. The characters and story were compelling, intriguing, honest, and down to earth too. Definitely looking forward to more of this author's work in the future.

I really enjoyed this story about Nash and Betsy. The story proves that looks can be deceiving and opposites attract. Short and sweet.

I enjoyed this book. This is a new author for me and I look forward to reading more from her in the future. This is the first book in this series and I can’t wait to see what is next in this series. I found this book to be a well written story that has a little bit of everything in it. It is full of mystery, action and even a little romance. The characters brought the story to life and kept me turning pages. This is an engaging story that I had a hard time putting down. This is a story about Nash who is a Marine returning home and not expecting to meet Betsy. She is falling for him. This is where the story takes on suspense and mystery. I enjoyed the chemistry and growth throughout this story with these two. The attraction is there from the beginning. Nash is a hurt Marine but Betsy has her own fears that must be overcome. What happens to these two you will have to read this book to find out. It really is a great story that I enjoyed and I highly recommend it.

This book is very cute, and there were a lot of layers with it. Nash and Betsy Felt something the moment they met. Nash is very much the ideal book boyfriend. He is sweet, handsome, protective, and loyal. The moment he laid eyes on Betsy all those instincts came out , and a silent courtship began. Betsy was a bit harder to gage. She felt the attraction but she was very introverted and to herself. She had the feelings for him, but it took a lot more warming up for her. When her sister Leanne arrives Betsy Is a bit more free, but on the fence with Nash. There is quite a bit of cat and mouse play between them, and when he steps in to help with Leanne’s stalker it ups the ante for everything. It’s a very romantic story and there’s lots of intrigue attached to it. This read is very much worth it.

Check Out by Debra Parmley is the first book in the Bobbins Sisters Series. This is a great book that really has a little bit of everything in it. My first impression though was the instant connection the main characters seem to have. Right from their first meeting you could feel it. And every interaction from then the chemistry sizzled between them.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and from the description I expected just another typical marine returned home story but what the author gave us was much more than that. The story was really well developed and thought out. It had a depth to it that you don’t always find in these type of romance books which for me made it stand out. I thought this was a really strong start to a new series and a brilliant way to be introduced to a new author.
