Bell & Whitehouse #6

A Clash of Spooks

Rate this book
When Felicity Bell and Alice Whitehouse are sent to England on their first ever ghost hunting mission, they discover the woman who hired them brutally murdered with an ancient battle-ax. Now instead of figuring out how to rid Castle Windermere of its ghosts, they are drawn into the murder investigation instead.

The plot thickens when a famous New York fashion designer arrives in search of her father, a CIA agent who went missing twenty-five years ago. Before he died, he was involved in the theft of a mysterious Russian device, now rumored to be hidden inside the ancient castle.

With ghosts popping up all over the place, murderers and their victims running amok, talking rats making a nuisance of themselves down in the castle’s crypt, Felicity and Alice soon have enough on their plate. So when Fee’s fiancé Rick Dawson is suddenly kidnapped and held for ransom, the two friends buckle down and show this particular haunted castle that nobody messes with Bell & Whitehouse once they get their groove on.

Nic has a background in political science and before being struck by the writing bug worked odd jobs around the world (including but not limited to massage therapist in Mexico, gardener in Italy, restaurant manager in India, and Berlitz teacher in Belgium).

When he’s not writing he enjoys curling up with a good (comic) book, watching British crime dramas, French comedies or Nancy Meyers movies, sampling pastry (apple cake!), pasta and chocolate (preferably the dark variety), twisting himself into a pretzel doing morning yoga, going for a run, and spoiling his big red tomcat Tommy.

He lives with his wife (and aforementioned cat) in a small village smack dab in the middle of absolutely nowhere and is probably writing his next ‘Mysteries of Max’ book right now.

Felicity Bell and Alice Whitehouse have been invited to England to get rid of the ghosts that are plaguing the Windermere Castle. When they arrive they are immediately immersed in conversation, confusing conversation with active bossy ghosts.

This book is filled with gut wrenching laughs. Alice and Reese spending a short while reminiscing over their dinner of Stargazy Pie was hilarious. They kept talking about more and more disgusting dishes.

The cast of characters are eclectic at best. They are typically hilarious and have unique personalities. Aimee and her mother are in England looking for her father, the missing spy. Bramwell is following Aimee to see if he could find the missing spy. Someone might even be following Bramwell. Reese and Rick came to England to be with Fee and Alice. The list of characters just keep growing and adding to the confusion. But it is sort of organized chaos. Until the rats start conversing.

The mystery is real, something is happening to the people in the castle. Deaths ghosts, missing people, people being knocked out,and even kidnappings, something is definitely going on. There are plenty of ghosts around that could help. Well they could be of help if they would be a little more cooperative. The ghosts seem to keep their old fashioned notions even after death. There are some pretty funny ghost to ghost wrangler conversations.

This book had the most obscure conversations and I laughed all the way through. Even when there was murder and mayhem at play.

These are the most interactive ghosts I have ever heard of in one place and they all have their own agendas. There is more on the line than just ghosts. There are Russians, secrets and Faberge' eggs. Life is always more interesting when there are Faberge' eggs involved. This book is a rollicking good read! Nic Saint does it again! They have me begging for more from these Ghost Wranglers

The cover should indicate to you not to take this too seriously, as it is designed to be light and fun. Often — all too often — this means dull or silly or lame beyond words. The authors manage to strike just the right balance here, however, to make this enjoyable fluff. Once in a while, they walk that high wire between fun cozy fluff and too ridiculous to read, but they always manage to work in enough genuinely funny moments, and keep the story moving nicely along, to keep from falling. Felicity and Alice, and their respective beaus, head for Windmere Castle in England to do some wraith wrangling. Soon their employer is a ghost — murdered — and one of the beaus is kidnapped. There are ghosts, rats, some Russians, some Fabergé eggs, and some genuinely funny interactions which follow. A few things were eye-rolling but it moved at such a nice little pace that I rarely had time to dwell on it. Overall, good fun. I picked this up for free on Kindle and while I haven’t run out and picked up another, I probably will soon, and start at the beginning, just to have something frivolous but enjoyable to have on hand for times I’m in the mood. Nicely done.

Lots of mysteries going on in one story. The Wraith Wranglers go to an English castle to help move on some ghosts and the crazy adventure happens when they get there. Several people murdered for different reasons and they need to sort it all out. Fun story, just alot of stuff happening that makes it a little hard to follow all the stories. I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Book too idiotic and contradictory. Also head hopping with zillions of POVs so impossible to follow. And just sloppy

A woman calls asks for help then she simply disappears, a man wants them off the property asap- but why? And the mysterious scare faced man keeps popping up. Where does it all connect?
Alice and Felicity are once again at it, doing what they do best. Trying to solve a mystery. But this time it's in England at the Windermere Castle. Their hostess disappears as soon as they arrive and with no clear instructions on what's going on, they start to dig for clues. But when a man orders them off his property, a servant tells all, a scared faced man running around and a couple ghosts scaring up the neighborhood. Not to mention a rat problem. What needs to be done is clear. Solve the case, find out why these ghosts are haunting, sticking around the castle and who is commanding them.

I gave this book 4 stars because if you believe in ghosts and other creatures talking to certain people, you will enjoy this book. This set of books remind me of the Topper series. If you know who Topper was, you will thoroughly enjoy the conversations between the living and the others. If you are too young for that, I'll just say that the main characters in these books are just a little off, but in a crazy and nice way. This time the
Wraith Wranglers are in England to talk to the ghosts.

Clash of Spooks. Wow what a story! This one seemed longer than the others. There were so many different story lines to keep up with. I read the book slower so I could keep up with the different story lines. Felicity and Alice had their hands full trying to find out what happened to everyone. The kidnappings were funny and Reese and Rick brought excitement to the book. I enjoyed the ending tremendously!

This was really good. I love the humor and how the characters interact with each other. The ghosts were a bit over the top, but as this is a comedy, sometimes too much is funnier than anything else. The romance and bromance is also funny and gives a different slant to the whole story. If you want something fun to read and not at all serious, this is the ticket.

Wraith Wranglers

Ok read. The author tries to tie in too many story lines which makes the book no flow. The author also repeats way too much, like the reader forgets there are fiancées, friends and ghosts in the story.

Not for me

Too tongue in cheek for me, and if I hired these women, I would have fired them in 10 min. No mater what my problems were. Pretty insufferable 20 somethings with little work ethics.

I liked the idea behind this book, but the behavior of some of these characters made no sense to me. I still finished the book to find out whodunit, but not sure I would read more in this series.

I can´t quite put my finger on why, but I didn´t care much for this book. It´s not the tongue-in-cheek delivery, it´s not the talking ghosts (and rats), it just didn´t hang together for me.

Enjoyable!

This is the first book by this author I've read, and I really enjoyed it. It's humorous, the characters are perfect, the only reason for giving it 4 stars is because the author kept using a word that either doesn't exist, or it's misspelled. It starts off with a group of friends going to a haunted castle to help the owner get rid of her ghosts. By the time they reach the castle, they find the owner, Heidi has been murdered and is a ghost as well. This book seems to have a lot going on, but it's a good mystery. There are Russian spies, an FBI agent, Wally (Heidi's son), the American billionaire that purchased the castle before Heidi was killed, talking rats, you name it. Basically a fun read
