A sold-out stadium.

A virus unleashed.

For 17-year-old Alfie Button, today was always going to be a memorable day.

The cheers of excited fans soon become desperate, bloodcurdling cries for help as a legion of the undead overwhelms the stadium. Panic erupts as 21,000 people rush for the exits, only to find them sealed.

With nowhere to run, suffocating in a torrent of blood and chaos, all Alfie and his friends can do is fight for survival—and pray that help will come.

But in every game, in every stadium…

There has to be a loser.

Born in the small Welsh town of Llanelli, Steven began writing stories at the age of eight. His inspiration came from his love for ‘80s horror movies, and novels by Stephen King and the late Richard Matheson.

During Steven’s teenage years, as well as being a black-belt kickboxer, he became a great lover of writing dark and twisted poems – six of which gained him publications with Poetry Now, Brownstone Books, and Strong Words.

Over the next few years, and after becoming a father and a husband, Steven's passion drove him towards writing short stories, gaining him further publication with Dark Moon Digest: an American horror magazine. His terrifying tales of the afterlife and zombies gained him positive reviews, particularly his story, Burning Ambition, which also came runner up in a Five-stop-story contest.

Finally, in 2013, after years of hard work (and countless rejection letters), Steven got his debut novel, Fourteen Days, published by Barking Rain Press.

What a great series of zombie books. This one is where it all started.
Alfie is a troubled teen on his way to the football. At the stadium all hell
breaks loose as a zombie virus spreads around the stadium.
Trapped with his mates and opposing fans it is his struggle to survive.
I would recommend reading all 3 back to back.10/10 Brilliant.

Overall I've enjoyed this series of books, they're easy to read and I'm a sucker for a zombie story, however, this last one was tough to get through. The overuse of racist language, cheesy chav fights and the fact it was all quite predictable was slightly disappointing - but overall it was entertaining with a good amount of gore!

Dang it, I’ve finished another book and now there’s no more to read in this series!
Despite the football theme to this one which was a bit off putting to start with I still couldn’t put it down once the zombies appeared :o)

I HATE the characters, I really do. We have a group of football hooligans who like to drink, snort cocaine, fight and stab rival supporters and racial abuse between the MCs just adds to the non fun of this book. Every second word is an f bomb or worse and I did not enjoy this at all.

Our hero Alfie is a black kid living in a foster home with 'siblings' who hate him. He has found acceptance in a group of white football thugs although even they can be vile to him if the mood takes them. The group are violent thugs who carry weapons and are drunk and coked up when we meet them for the big derby match. Jonny is the violent gang leader who sparks a mass brawl in the pub between rival fans along with his scumbag brother Nathan.

The action moves to the stadium where Jonny is eyeing the opportunity for another fight when Swansea go a goal down to his disgust. But Alfie starts to notice that the Cardiff fans soon stop cheering and start screaming and a full zombie outbreak takes hold in the stadium. Alfie's group find themselves locked in a VIP suite with it's owners and the rival Cardiff gang leader and his sister. Curtis is as obnoxious as Jonny and they spend all their time being utter asshats and rude morons. The group cannot stop bickering and sniping at each other instead of sitting quiet to hide from the zombies or work on an escape plan.

There was a lack of zombies for me. There was too much focus on the petty fights of this group of idiots and not enough on the zombies rampaging through the stadium. The parts that did feature the zombies were good but there needed to be more of it for me. This story would have worked out great if it had been a group of characters that you like in that situation but really, I didn't greatly care about any of them.

The best thing about this book was the twist at the end. THAT was pretty good stuff.

I kept wondering during the whole book what had started this book's outbreak. To find out at the end that Alfie had bitten the guy he was fighting with in that bar, and to know that he had the disease inside of him, and that's what turned the other guy and started the mess, is crazy.

This book had a lot of good and bad. I'm glad that Alfie survived the whole book and that his adoptive mother, Wendy did, too. Too bad the adoptive jerk father wasn't killed.

I like that Alfie was able to spend a little time with Natalie before she was killed. Heh, I like that they killed of Jonny. It was about damn time. Too bad they didn't kill that jerk off earlier in the book.

It sucks that Alfie's friend, Ginge was killed. While I didn't like the Jonny character, I agree with him that they should've tossed the infected man and his wife out of the window.

I'm also surprised that Alfie and the other guys didn't kick Jonny's ass for being such a prick all the time to everyone. They should've ganged up on him and kicked his ass.

The book was great and left me guessing how it was going to end.

This is the third book in the series but it's so cleverly written it can be read on its own as well. The book centres around Alfie and his football hooligan friends attending the biggest match of the season, the local derby!! Soon things start to go wrong and the necs (zombies) put in an appearance. Just picture the ensuing carnage! The characters are so realistic, I for one know several people like jonny!! This is proper edge of your seat stuff, it's the quickest I've ever read a book as I didn't want to put it down!! Another excellent effort from the author, I just hope to see more in this series!

Loved it!

I love the Burn the Dead series. I was so happy to see that the 3rd one came out. I thought this book was great. The ending I kind of guessed but there was the other factor of how everything was started. It was a great read.
