"He was her first. But will he be her last?"

Amy Jameson has one priority these days: her eight-year-old autistic son. Everything else will just have to wait, including her love life. When she agrees to let a friend hold her wedding in Amy’s backyard, she may have bitten off more than she can chew, especially when the man who shows up to help her get the place ready is none other than the only man she’s ever loved, Luke Benson.

Luke has always considered Amy "the one that got away." He loved her and lost her back in high school, but when he returns to his hometown of Dogwood, North Carolina, for a friend's wedding, he finds himself falling right back into her arms. He walked away once and broke her heart, but he wants to prove that he's a different man now, a better man, the kind of man who will love her forever.

While I loved getting back to read about Noah (the autistic boy, who is the nephew of T.J. Jameson from book #2), as this story is about Noah's mother and her ex high-school sweetheart, things moved pretty fast for the two.

I realize there is limitation of novella length, but considering this is about second chances, I still wanted to read about some sort of tension between Amy and Luke. They didn't see/talk/communicate with each other for 12 years! Then when he came, Luke just announced that he still wanted to have a serious chance with Amy, basically in the first few chapters? Yeah, didn't impress me much.

I DID love one particular scene about Luke and Noah though -- which involved blood. No, not as gory/scary as you thought it would be!! Clue, Luke is a doctor :). It was a strong scene and I loved every minute of that one.

Single mom Amy Jameson's world revolves around her her eight-year-old autistic son, between caring for him, work, and taking care of her son's dog she has little time left for herself, but she wouldn't have it any other way. With her day to day life laying claim to most of her free time she has been forced to put her love life on the back burner, and she isn't so sure she'd want a man back in her life anyway, especially after enduring such a devastating divorce. But with her friend's impending nuptials bringing her long lost love Luke Benson back into her life, she begins to think that maybe letting love back into her life wouldn't be so bad at all...

Luke Benson left town years ago and took a part of Amy Jameson's heart along with him, leaving her behind was one of the hardest things he's ever had to do, and he's regretted every day since. He tried to move on, but that didn't really pan out, and he'd love nothing more than a second chance at love, but he just hasn't found the right girl. When he returns to his hometown of Dogwood, North Carolina, for a friend's impending nuptials, he never expects that it would result in a reunion with Amy, and all those feelings he once had for her come rushing back. He decides that he must take full advantage of this opportunity, and try a find a way to win her heart back, and prove to her that what they have is worthy of a second chance...

This short, but oh sweet, second chance love story completely melted my heart and had me smiling the whole way through. If ever there were two people more deserving of a second chance at love it was these two, they were truly a match made in literary heaven! Ms. Lacey has created a gem of a story here, and I am so happy that I had the opportunity to have a front row seat to watch this beautiful story unfold. If you like small town, second chance love stories filled with loads of heart and lots of promise, then this is the perfect read for you!! I highly recommend this one, Ms. Lacey's well crafted characters are sure to put a smile on your face and leave an indelible impression on your heart!!

Amy and Luke dated in high school. Amy broke-up with Luke when he went off to college thinking that he would dump her and might as well get ahead of the curve. She's now a single mom to an autistic son. She recently inherited a home and is a bit overwhelmed with everything that needs to be done to it. When her best friend's wedding venue cancels at the last minute, she asks Amy to have the wedding in her backyard.
Luke is a doctor now and in town for his friend's wedding (characters from the previous book). He is also handy with his hands and this leads them to spend time together fixing up the yard (and house).
Sweet second chance romance. This is shorter, I could see them together based on their previous relationship. Good group of friends too!

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Luke and Amy were high school sweethearts, but broke up after graduation. It has been years since they have seen each other, but when Luke returns to town for a friend's wedding, a wedding that they are both in, they come face to face. A lot has changed in the years they have been apart. Luke is now a successful doctor and Amy's top priority in her life is her 8 year old son Noah. Noah is autistic and depends on his daily routines and the unknown can stress him out a great deal. Allowing Luke into their life was a big risk, but one that was definitely worth it.

I loved Luke and Amy as a couple. They were able to fall back into their relationship so easily because there was still so much love between them. And you couldn't help but cheer for them. I especially loved how Luke was able to step in and not only interact with Noah, but also become such an integral part of the boy's life in such a short amount of time. He understood Noah on a level that Amy was not expecting, but that just made him so much more amazing.

Because that's what Luke was...amazing. From the moment Luke came back into Amy's life he did everything he could to let her know that he was sorry for the way things ended all those years ago. And once he realized he wanted a life with her and Noah, he did everything he could to convince her that they belonged together. Even Noah picked up on how great he was:
“Mr. Luke will be here this weekend for the wedding, right?” Noah asked.

“Yes, he will. He’s good friends with Mr. Joe.” Amy wondered what prompted that question. Was Noah tired of having Luke at their house all the time?

“I think Mr. Luke would be a good dad,” he said.

She stared at her son. “What makes you say that?”

“I hear other kids at school talking about their dads,” he said. “And the ones who like their dads have fun dads that play with them, like Mr. Luke does with me.”

She had absolutely no idea what to do with that information. “I’m sure Mr. Luke would be a great dad.”

“If you married him, would he be my dad?” Noah looked up at her, making rare eye contact.

She pressed a hand to her chest. “If I got married, that person would be your stepdad. But I don’t have any plans to get married, Noah. Mr. Luke and I are just friends.”

“I know,” Noah said as he got up from the table.

Amy watched as he went into the living room and started queuing up the latest episode of Brick Tricks. What in the world was that about? Was he saying that he wanted her to get married? To Luke? Or was he worried that it might happen? With a sigh, she picked up her cell phone and called her brother.

I just loved this novella so much!! For such a short book, there were so many wonderful moments and it brought ALL the warm and fuzzies. And having read For Keeps and really loving Amy, I was glad that she got her happily ever after.

Only You by Rachel Lacey is about Amy's first love returns home for a wedding. Luke is in love with Amy still many years later. Rachel writes a very wonderful book and you can live through her words.

This was my first book by Rachel and I will be picking up other books by her to enjoy.

I love that Amy - and Noah - got their own story. Too short of a story if you ask me. Yoda was the perfect pup for this story - I'm glad the dog rescue aspect continued in the novella where space is a premium.
Luke's marriage was predictable and his backstory left me wanting - this is the problem with novellas, there's not enough of a good thing!
Another great romance, with a dog!

Loved this novella. It was just the perfect thing to pick up during vacation, a second chance at love that brought a satisfying Happily Ever After. I wanted to read more of Amy and her son Noah, and I love their story so much. As usual, the author crafts her story with such finesse, with a mixture of sweet and heat. Looking forward to reading her newest series!!

Luke is a very honest man, “at this particular moment, yes, all I’m thinking about is sex. Specifically, sex with you, Amy Jameson. Even though I know we’re not going to, not today anyway.” I enjoyed this quick read, I loved it, Luke was one persistent man.

Only You by Rachel Lacey is an entertaining contemporary romance. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Lacey has provided us with a well-written book. The characters are fun and lovable. Amy and her young autistic son have moved into the home left to her by her grandfather. Luke is a doctor and in town for a friend's wedding. This second-chance romance is loaded with drama, humor and spice. I enjoyed reading Only You and look forward to reading more from Rachel Lacey in the future. Only You is book 3.5 of the Love To The Rescue Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Really cute. I haven’t read any other book in this series but I didn’t feel like I walked into the middle at all. Quick novella but it didn’t move too quickly at all. Loved the history and interaction between characters. Especially like the way Noah is portrayed on the spectrum and defining some ticks etc some autistic kids experience. Would love to read another by this author soon!!

I accidentally deleted my updates and review and don't want to retype it all so I am including my highlights. I liked Luke but Amy was harder to like (for me).

Noah sighed, reaching down to pet Yoda, the poodle mix. Surprisingly, the dog didn’t bother Amy’s allergies as much as she’d expected. And as of last week, she and Noah had a house of their own to call home, a house that leaned more toward money pit than fixer-upper. But it was hers. And it had a yard, a safe place for Noah to play outside.

She turned her head and found herself eye level with a man’s crotch. And she had just head-butted him in the groin. She lurched upright, sending a stream of Yoda pee all over the poor guy’s pants in the process. “Oh my, I’m so sorry—”
“Amy?”
That voice. It sent a bolt of longing through her so intense that her whole body sizzled with it. She looked up and into the slightly amused eyes of Luke Benson. Yoda slipped through her fingers, leaping to the floor to finish his interrupted business.

Amy was the opposite of most successful “mommy bloggers.” She shared real-life experiences that were definitely not Pinterest-worthy. She shared her struggles as a single mom and as the mother of a high-functioning autistic son. She told humorous stories about failed do-it-herself attempts like tonight’s air conditioning fiasco. And she got honest about the hardships she faced in a way she seldom did with anyone who knew her in real life.

He’d been her first real crush. Her first boyfriend. Her first everything. And they’d been so good together. So much in love. For one perfect year, they’d been inseparable. But Luke was older, a year ahead of her in school so when he got accepted into the pre-med program at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Amy tried to be a realist. He’d be living five hours away, a college student in a big city. And Amy, well, she’d just be the small town high school girl from back home. She knew how these things ended. Rather than waiting around for him to break her heart, she’d done the sensible thing and broken up with him before he left for college. Except it hadn’t been sensible. She’d been miserable without him, and she’d hoped—foolishly—that he’d been miserable without her too. So, she’d scraped together her courage and gone after him, but Luke—looking ridiculously cool and mature on his college campus—had told her it was too late. When he returned home the following summer, he brought his fiancée, Georgia, with him. A fiancée. At nineteen. Amy’s heart was broken all over again.

Right now he looked so serious it was making her heart turn all kinds of crazy cartwheels in her chest. “This is more than sex. You know that, right?” He kissed the palm of her hand and pressed it against his cheek. “I want you, Amy. All of you, not just your body.”

If there had been any doubt in Luke’s mind before, now he knew: he was in love with Amy Jameson. Maybe he’d always loved her. And he had this one night to show her how he felt and how much she still meant to him. He had to give her a night she’d never forget.

“Things in Baltimore weren’t satisfying me anymore. I did my thing overseas, and it was great, but that’s not it either. I need more, Amy. I’m ready to settle down. I want a family. I want you.”

Luke had no idea what the hell had just happened. He’d gone from blissfully happy in Amy’s bed to thrown out the front door and dumped—again—in a matter of minutes. But one thing he knew for sure: this time he was coming back to set things straight. And another thing: he needed to tell her everything that had happened his first year of college. Because she was so wrong. He’d always loved Amy. And this time, he was going to prove it.

ONLY YOU is one of my favorite kind of stories and one I always think works great for a novella. A second chance romance! With the limited page count, it makes the HEA believable for me when there's already such a big connection.

In this case, Amy and Luke were high school sweethearts but she broke up with him when he left for college thinking a long distance relationship wouldn't work and she didn't want to hurt more when he ended up breaking up with her in the future.

Now, years later, she's a single mom to an autistic son and he's divorced and living in a different place. But he comes in to town for their friends' wedding and wants to reconnect with Amy right away. I liked that Luke was the stronger pursuer of the relationship while Amy was more reserved and had her doubts. She's definitely in a position where she has to be more careful who she lets into her life. Her son is her primary focus and I loved that about her character. It shows through very well. I also happened to love the way Luke connection with Noah! Talk about adorable! Of course, it helped that he's a doctor and knew how to best approach Noah.

As much as it was nice to see these two get an HEA, the story is pretty short and I wanted a bit more. But for the enjoyment it provided as a quick read in one sitting, I definitely thought it was a good story. Novellas are always tricky because you can't get as invested in the characters, and there was some of that in this one for me. But I think the combination of the rescue dog (love it!) and the real way the author portrayed Noah and the issues that parents deal with autistic kids made it a worthwhile read and added the level of depth that it needed.

ONLY YOU is a sweet small town contemporary that gives two characters the second chance they deserve after life had taken them down hard and different paths. With a sexy hero and a strong heroine, overall this is a great story and I can't wait to read more from this author.

Since I was already a fan of Rachel Lacey's writing I knew I'd enjoy Only You, and I was right. It's a wonderfully written story with some past characters in it. I really enjoyed Luke and Amy and her son Noah. Let's not forget Yoda (the dog they are fostering) who plays a big part in this book at least for Noah. I enjoyed how the author shows you how animals and helpful for those with autism.

I'm not a huge fan of second-chance romances but this one really worked. I didn't feel like their story was repetitive. It was truly a new start for them.

You will love how well Luke interacts with Noah and how he understands that for Amy, Noah comes first. I also liked how he pushed Amy out of her comfort zone. Sometime we like to stick with what we think will hurt us less but in the same token, we can miss out on so much.

The only this that I felt wasn't perfect with the story and believe me it's really small is how short it was. Yes, I know this is only a novella but I still would have liked maybe 50 more pages. But the size of the book is a very small issue. More pages might have added to the story, but not having them didn't take away from it.

As much as Only You is part of a series, you could really read it on it's own. I know I don't say that often, I personally would read the whole series. But that's just me. I think you'll enjoy Only You on it's own or if you get the whole series.

A second chance at love story? Yes please! I was so excited that Lacey gave Amy her own story.

Amy runs into Luke years after the both moved on from being sweethearts. In the time they were apart they both moved on with their lives but now Luke is back for his friends wedding and he's single. Amy is also single but her first priority is her son, Noah.

Luke starts to help Amy get her house ready for their friends wedding but the more time Luke spends with Amy and Noah the more he falls for them. I loved seeing how much Luke not only cared for Amy but how he was connecting with Noah. He didn't second guess on wanting to hang out with him and let him into his heart.

Novellas are usually hit or miss with me it's either not long enough because I'm into the characters or it doesn't have enough information to even get to know them. This one was one of the ones I didn't want to end and wish it would have been a full length novel. Bummer lol but I was glad Luke and Amy did get a HEA.

This story was well written, sweet and had lots of cute moments that I couldn't get enough of. This novella could be read as standalone which makes it so great but getting to know these characters from the beginning of the series just makes this novella more fun.

If you like small town romances with a sexy hero who is a doctor and a single mom wanting a second chance with her first love I definitely recommend this title!

Good writing but ultimately unsatisfying. I need to stop reading second chance love stories because they only frustrate me. The overly long separation and the lame reasons why make me nuts.

Amy and Luke were high school sweethearts who had a once in a lifetime love. So why did he marry someone else and then wait 12 years (12!) to talk to her again? The reason for the separation was so stupid in these modern times. And if she really was the only girl he's ever loved why did he make no effort to see her again? They only got together again because of the wedding so who is to say he would've waited another 12 years without that excuse? This is what frustrates me. The explanations are never really satisfying and as nice as the writing and romance are in the story I can't move past the stupid choices the characters make.

Another problem I had is that Luke sees Amy again and all he can talk about is getting in her pants. Did he love her for other reasons? We'll never know because he only tells us about his hormones instead of any elemental reason for loving Amy and wanting to be with her. I wish there had been more communication and emotion and less twitching in his pants.

A great read!!! That is first and foremost. It's a great read. This is part of a series,Love to the Rescue, it's a short story that fits well in the series but those who are new to the series won't be left out. Yes there are recurring characters but you'll feel at home. I do predict you'll be eager to read the other stories, but that's no hardship, they are great as well.

ONLY YOU is a kind of lost love story. This is Amy and Luke's story. Amy and Luke were a "couple" in high school, but things happened. Now Luke is back but is he going to stay? Does Amy want him to? Amy has to worry about her autistic son, but does that mean she can't let Luke back in?

While ONLY YOU is a short story there's a lot emotion and story packed into those short 100 pages. I loved watching these two reconnect. Fans of the "once lovers" stories will find this one a wonderful read. If you are new to Rachel Lacey's writing you're in for a treat. This is a fun, fast paced, easy read. There are some strong emotions shared within this story, not just with the fact that there's an autistic child involved but also with how people see events from their own POV and sometimes they miss the important things. I can't wait to read more from Ms. Lacey. If you are seeking a quick read that will leave you happy pick up ONLY YOU today!

Only You is a novella by Rachel Lacey. It is the latest in the Love to the Rescue series. This can be read as a standalone book, but I believe once you start the series you will want to read them all. I love that this series always has a rescue animal involved in the story.

Amy Jameson is a single mom struggling to pay the bills and look after her autistic son Noah. She can’t even afford to get a new toy for the dog she is fostering. She sees how much the dog is helping her son but she can’t afford to adopt it. She runs into her first love Luke Benson when buying food for the dog. He’s the one who got away. He is now a doctor back for a wedding they are both a part of. The chemistry is still there. Can Luke convince Amy to give them a second chance?

Give Only You a chance. I think you will love it.

I AM SO HAPPY THAT AMY GOT HER OWN STORY. BEING A SINGLE MOM MYSELF I CAN RELATE TO HER PLIGHTS. SO IM HAPPY TO LIVE VICARIOUSLY THROUGH HER FOR A HEA.

AMY BEING A SINGLE MOM OF AN AUTISIC SON HAS ALWAYS ONLY LOVED ONE MAN, LUKE. SO WHEN HE COMES BACK TO TOWN FOR A WEDDING THAT THEY ARE BOTH IN IT BRINGS BACK ALL THOSE FEELINGS.

LUKE HAS ONLY EVER LOVED AMY, EVEN AFTER SHE BROKE UP WITH HIM WHEN HE WENT OFF TO COLLEGE. BUT NOW THAT SHE IS BACK IN HIS LIFE HE DOESNT PLAN ON LETTING HER GO THIS TIME.

A GREAT STORY OF FIRST LOVE FINALLY WINNING OUT. VERY WELL WRITTEN AND IT TUGS AT THE HEART STRINGS.

Only You is a great second chance romance. Amy and Luke were high school sweethearts. Amy broke up with Luke shortly before he left for college, they both loved each other but Amy broke up with him before he could break up with her. Fast forward several years. Amy now has an eight year old son with autism. Amy hasn't dated since Noah's father left them when Noah was diagnosed with autism. Luke had a very short marriage and is divorced. Luke never forgot Amy. When Luke comes to town for a friends wedding they discover that their passion and chemistry is still there. Great second chance romance, you will fall in love with Noah and his dog Yoda.

I received an ARC of Only You the new novella from Rachel Lacey. I have not read the others in this series. That being said I didn't feel as if I was lost having not read them. This is a second chance love, which is one of my favorite kind of romances. I loved the characters of Luke, Amy, Noah and Yoda too! I read the book in one day. I found myself pulling out my phone to read during school pickup, while dinner was cooking and staying up late to finish! This is a quick, fun and flirty read. I would definitely suggest his book for a fun, feel good read. I will now be going back and reading the rest of the series and looking for more books by Rachel!

Amy Jameson, who we met in prior Love to the Rescue stories, gets her own HEA!! Amy is a single mom of Autistic son, Noah. He is her first priority - dating is dead last on her list. Then Luke Benson comes back to town - the first, and only, man she's ever truly loved. She doesn't want to in to her heart - he'll leave again, and she can never trust him again with her heart. But he's at her house every day - helping get her yard ready for a friend's wedding that had to be moved at the last moment - and being so good with her son. But can she trust him with her son - and with her heart??

Only You is a very sweet Novella in the Love to the Rescue series. Second chances were never this nice. Amy and Luke dated as teenagers. Things happened that made it impossible for them to be together after Luke went away to college. Now years, a divorce and one child later they are forced to share company for two weeks while working on their friends wedding. Amy has a 9 year old son, Noah. He has autism and is her everything. To the extent that she doesn't allow men to get close to her. Luke is up for the task though.

Super fast read. Loved Amy and Luke's second chance romance.
High school sweathearts that went seperate ways until Luke comes back for a friends wedding and Amy agrees that her friend can have the wedding at her house. Luke is one of the guys who help get the property ready for the big day.
Noah, Amy's son and Yoda, their foster dog are such sweet secondary characters that I fell in love with.
You will not be disappointed in thier story.

I absolutely loved this novella and my only complaint is that I wish I could have spent more time with Amy, Luke and Noah (and Yoda!). This is a second chance romance, and Rachel Lacey totally sold me on Amy and Luke's HEA. This was sexy, sweet, funny, and had the perfect amount of emotion/drama for the length of the novella. The epilogue was also a perfect end/tie up for the series. Looking forward to seeing what Rachel Lacey has in store for us next.
