John Godolphin Bennett (8 June 1897 – 13 December 1974) was a British mathematician, scientist, technologist, industrial research director and author. He is perhaps best known for his many books on psychology and spirituality, particularly on the teachings of G. I. Gurdjieff. Bennett met Gurdjieff in Istanbul in October 1920 and later helped to co-ordinate the work of Gurdjieff in England after Gurdjieff's arrival in Paris. He also was active in starting the British section of the Subud movement, and co-founded its British headquarters.
A very concise and accessible overview of Bennett's brilliant conception of the cosmos and the role of human beings within it. He spent 40 years writing his masterpiece, The Dramatic Universe. In this short guide, he clearly and briefly answers a series of questions that present the essence of his most important views. If you read this very short work, you will know whether you want to go deeper into Bennett's teaching.
It’s not really appropriate to rate this book as it as summary of Bennett’s massive 4 volume Magnum opus. There is so much in his writings that is beyond my comprehension. But I doubt there is anyone who has made a more comprehensive and analytical approach to trying to understand and document the deepest mysteries of life.
