Andy Lockwood is a writer, an artist, and above all: a dreamer. He got his start in screenwriting and filmmaking where he discovered his obsessive love of storytelling.
He is the author of two novels, Empty Hallways and House of Thirteen; a 12-part serial thriller, At Calendar’s End; and is a regular contributor to horror anthologies. He is always working on another piece of writing, whether it is a novel, a story, or something else entirely. When not slaving away at the keyboard, he spends his time buying books he does not have time to read, and delving into mediums he has no time to fully explore, but he dabbles in them anyway.
He lives in mid-Michigan with his amazingly talented and entirely-too-supportive wife, their delightfully boisterous daughter, a brood of cats, and a misguided idea of what it means to be an adult.

This is the second installment to the At Calendar's End series. The short picks up from the end of the last which I liked because of the seamlessness. In this story, Ember is mourning the death of her Alpha Janus (January) and they've send out a call to the other beings who control the cycle of time. I like the way Val (Valentine/February) is shown in this book. It's surprising that for such a short story, you have such a depth of character development. Val goes on to make the ultimate sacrifice which you expect but it pulls at the heart strings. But would't love do that anyway? And still, what's so interesting is that you don't know what the heck is going on. I've bought the next book.

Picking up right where the last one left off, February shows us the aftermath of...whatever happened to Janus. Ember seems to be grieving the hardest as the Omega who lost her Alpha but as she is reminded...everyone felt his loss. And the Intercalary also have to worry about what this means for the progression of their timeline. Val has an idea that may be dangerous but what choice do they have? And this book is not without its own losses...

The thing that Andy Lockwood has right so far with this series is using his time/space well. A novella doesn't have room for padding or unnecessary descriptions to boost word counts. Every bit of this novella is progressing the plot or building the world or developing a character. It's only 2 in and I feel connected to these characters, I'm concerned for their well being and hooked on what's going to come next. The Shadow Mystery is also intriguing and worthy of the intrigue surrounding it. The novella ends with 3 new Intercalary members entering the house and I'm interested to see what they're going to bring to the story.
