Stripped Raw

Rate this book
Kenzie I’m a yes girl. Get your mind out of the gutter; I’m not talking about sex. I’m talking about saying yes to whatever comes my way in life. So when I had the chance to move to Europe after college, I said, yes. When I had the chance to open my own lingerie line, I said, yes. And when my stepsister got diagnosed with cancer and needed me to come home and help her raise her daughter, I said, yes. That’s me, Kenzie — the yes girl! In every area of my life but one —Love. Always the first to leave a relationship. Will I be able to say yes to love — to Kane — to being happy? Or will I simply come undone and be stripped raw? Kane Don’t let Kenzie fool you! She’s a master at hiding behind a laugh and a smile. Being an attorney, I prefer the facts. This story isn’t as light and happy as my yes girl would have you believe. No laugh can sugarcoat what we are I’ve lost everything. I know what it’s like to be left raw. But sometimes that’s the only way to find love. To strip yourself down, let the other person see all your sh*t, and hope they love you anyway.

The emotional story not only about love, but about family relationships, illness and coping with loss and trust. It's hard to rating this book clearly. It really should be some 3.5 stars. Very well developed in the course of the book, but also has a weaker moments.

"It’s been hard enough to find someone who wants to be with me on my best day. Who would want to be with me on my worst?"

About the plot: Kenzie has a lot of problems in her life. She got out from a very bad relationship, moved out of Europe to help sick stepsister raise her niece, and emotionally she is a mess. But also is determined to succeed with her own lingerie brand. Now Kenzie has a great chance to promote the company because she has an interview in the morning television show. However, not everything goes according to plan and feisty Kenzie started to argue during an interview with the host.

Kane was in the studio building before the interview, but did not have a chance to see the girl, whose laughter drew his attention. But when his stepbrother calls to him with a request for defamation, he goes to her to deal with the matter. And then everything changes. He recognizes the girl and her voice and gives up the legal calls and invites her to lunch.

Kane is charmed by her, feels that for the first time in 10 years, and after the divorce. He is tired of the long hours of work, and wish about something more. But she learned not to rely on anyone and certainly not on a man. And keeps all her emotions in herself. But Kane practically fell in love at first sight and does not intend to give up. He regrets too many things in life and is not going to regret also this feelings that she evokes in him. With all the problems it will not be a straight path

“Not exactly how you thought we’d spend the day”
“I thought I’d spend it loving you, and that’s what I’m doing,”

Final thoughts: It starts very good and fun. Sassy girl with a crazy attitue and manic about shoes is easy to like. Our indefatigable handsome and charming hero as well. Their interactions are sweet and funny. But sometimes also frustrating. The action is happening very quickly. It's insta-love and just maybe too quickly, because sometimes it's hard to catch connect at first.

But with the continuation of the book everything becomes more real and true. Also more emotional and painful. Especially the relationship between the sisters and course of the disease. We have also not a small twist that causes a lot of emotional tension and uncertainty action. Family relationships are important in this book. Definitely stronger point was relationship with her sister and little niece. This is one of the best and touching moments.

Generally I like the book. It made me smile and cry. If you like romantic, but not just a bed of roses love stories and emotions with family as an important aspect of the story it certainly will be good to read. And a very pleasant epilogue with a small surprise for heroes themselves. I would like to see that.

"I look down at myself still naked on my bed, imagining his fingerprints covering my skin. I wasn’t naked. I was covered in Kane, and I never wanted to be dressed in anything else."

I got a little past the sample. At 19% I'm done. It is a little too instalove for me. They've known eachother 2 seconds and are already feeling strong feelings, and I'm not feeling it at all. Being told about how her laugh makes him hard and his voice makes her wet and not much else to make their "connection" understandable -- I just don't feel it and am kind of bored. Maybe I'll try it again later...maybe not...maybe I'm in a mood ;)

¡Oh dios! me habeis dejado destrozada. Gracias por este pedazo de libro.

Kenzie Scott's life changed completely after an interview on a local news station promoting her custom lingerie business takes a disastrous turn. However, the repercussions turn lemons to lemonade when Kane Hunter shows up on her doorstep and her business skyrockets.

There's a lot going on in Kenzie's world and what makes her special is her strength of character and loyalty, though it comes at a price. She and Kane offer interesting contrasts as he's learned to express his feelings and she's learned to keep them controlled to a fault. Kane is a refreshing character in that while he has a strong, protective instinct, he's not overbearing and isn't afraid to put everything on the line. Kenzie, not so much but you can't help but admire all that she stands for. Neither is without their share of flaws.

I loved their story and it's not without heartbreak so make certain you've got some tissues handy. These are wonderfully crafted characters centered around strong themes of family, loyalty and grief. Loved everything about this book.

Review by Jennifer Skewes

I loved this book so much. It is a beautiful story about love, loss, life and family. It is an emotional ride that definitely deals with some heavy topics. But Ms. Lane’s writing is flawless and she tackled those topics with care. This is not just a story about love and second chances but also about two sisters who are the best of friends and mean the world to each other.

Kenzie has just moved back to the States to start her own lingerie business and to be there for her sister, who is battling cancer, and to take care of her niece. Kenzie is a very loving and caring person who has a hard time saying no to people. She is sassy and at times has no filter. But when it comes to love, romance and men, she has her guard up. Right now her mind is on what is most important to her at the moment, which is her family and her business. She does not want to lose herself in a man again. But when she meets Kane everything changes from that moment.

Kane knew from the moment that he heard her laugh that he needed to find out who she was. It was Kane's voice that completely captured Kenzie from the start. When they finally meet face to face, sparks began to fly. Kane wants her, when it comes to Kenzie he was all in. In his past he had always put his work first and he has learned from his mistakes. Kenzie is his future and he has every intention of making her see it as well. While Kane has no problem expressing his feelings, Kenzie on the other hand has a wall up. She knows she is falling for Kane but her fears and insecurities sometimes get in the way. The two of them together are beautiful and perfect for each other. But there are may obstacles that they face before they get their happily ever after. Kenzie is caring for her niece and her dying sister, she also just came out of a bad relationship. And then there is Kane who has his own story to tell. Can these two make it past the hurdles and find their happiness together?

This story was just beautiful for so many reasons. It wasn’t just about the romance and the love between Kane and Kenzie. But it was also about Kenzie and her sister and their loving relationship. But is was also about how Kane fit in to it all. He embraced it all and was there for her. Kane was just an amazing and caring man. The way he fell for Kenzie’s niece Zoe and how good he was with her. But how he also wanted to make Kenzie happy and give her everything. He was there for her when it came to her sister and her family. He wanted her and all of the baggage that she came with and I loved him for that.

Kenzie was such a stong individual but at the same time she had her insecurities which I loved. Because no matter how strong we are, we all have our fears. And her fears weren't just about her and Kane. It was the fear of losing her sister, the one person she loved and counted on the most. It was so beautiful to watch the love between these two sisters. She also had fears when it came to love as well. She was so afraid to love Kane for reasons that I completely understood. But there was no denying how hard she fell for him and how much in love with him, she really was.

Together these two had the most beautiful love story. I cried a few times and when it came to Kane’s past and his story my heart broke for him. He learned so much from his past and wanted to do it right this time around. I felt the love that these two had, I felt the pain and the heartache that they went through. But I also loved the happy times as well. There were a few unexpected twists and I was a little surprised at one of them but it all worked out and in the end it all came together and left me with a huge smile on my face. Stripped Raw is one of my top reads this year. The story just felt so real and in many ways touching. Both Kane and Kenzie have been through so much but together they got past it all and found the love that they deserve.

I’m not exactly sure how I feel after reading this story. On one hand, I liked it a lot. The writing was done well with a good premise. I felt ripped to shreds and became totally involved in all the family-related angst and sorrows. But, on the other hand I had a hard time believing in the relationship between Kane and Kenzie, our protagonists. It felt contrived and exaggeratedly instantaneous without any of the stepping stones leading to a real and lasting happily-ever-after. For the most part, I still found the personality development in the characters to be interesting and likeable, so it wasn’t entirely them. But the off-balanced coupling between them threw me off from the very start.

The storyline has many layers to it and isn’t centered solely on the romance. It entails relationships between family members coping with illness and lengthy trust issues both in their personal lives and within the family. In my opinion, the most touching and strongest part of this story belonged to the sisterly love exchanged between Kenzie, our main character, her sister Tessa and her small child. Tessa was an awesome character and brought a well-developed layer to the story. A very well-written account of the effects cancer has on not only the afflicted, but loved ones as well, was extremely touching and deeply emotional.

Overall readers will find a lot of fun-to-read sass and wit, emotional turmoil and heartbreak, tear-provoking situations, and a really charming and determined hero and a sassy, determined and shoe-crazy heroine. I neither loved this one nor hated it. A nicely done wrap-up in an Epilogue left me with a smile on my face.

.... Ah y el epílogo me gustó!! ;)

"Love without Regrets"
I absolutely loved Stripped Raw. A beautifully woven tale of love, loss, life and shoes. Kenzie has started a new life, a new business while helping to care for her sister and niece. She is the strong one. Kane knows from her first laugh, his first fleeting glimpse, that Kenzie is someone special and he is out to prove to her that she can trust him.

“Loving someone is never wrong,” Tessa says. “One of the most beautiful parts of loving someone is how it changes you—not how it changes them.”

There were so many little twists to this story that I felt like I was following a breadcrumb trail. I was drawn in from the start and didn't want to put the book down to eat or sleep. I wanted to find the happy ending, but I never wanted to find the end.

"When you can love the dark, ugly parts of someone—that’s real love. When you can watch them be stripped to the bones, and build them back up—that’s love."

How can I not love a man who can show his emotions???
This story was just amazing! I loved it!
Review to come.

Stripped Raw is nothing I expected, and I was addicted.

It was beautifully written, sincere with an overwhelming range of emotions. I felt a lot, mesmerized by Prescott Lane’s story, by second chances at love, honest feelings, and sexy endearing males who aren’t afraid to show their feelings … Oh my … I think I have a crush on Kane Hunter!!

The prologue was already settling the mood, told in dual POV, I loved how both of them were baring their souls, with so much honesty.

Kenzie is an admirable, stubborn woman with no filter and hot tempered at times. A feisty woman who knows how to hide her scars and feelings behind her behavior. She owns her homemade lingerie business and knows how to make it work. Being hurt in her past, she understood how to protect her heart and her family no matter what! She’s a mama Bear when it comes to her family, and also sacrificing a little her private life for providing what’s best for them … Even if sometimes she was too stubborn in her choices.

Kane Hunter was an unexpected surprise in Kenzie’s life. I loved how sometimes you meant to meet people who could help you to find the light and to breathe again. Like Kenzie, Kane was hiding some deep scars, and a heavy luggage. Recently divorced with a complicated relationship with his ex-wife, he knew that he had to go what for he wanted and not letting it go. Honest, sexy, sweet and not afraid to share his feelings, I was having a huge crush with this character since the prologue!

A slow burning romance, with a banter off the charts! I was vicariously living through their love story, ups and downs, a whirlwind romance. They might moved things kinda fast, not sexually speaking but about their feelings. While reading it, I was believing at love at first sight, to be brave, to take a chance on life and love.

The bluntness between the characters was so refreshing, and it went straight to my heart! The sexy times? I felt like I was combusting … Intense, passionate and scorching.I was rooting for this couple so much, I wanted them to reach their HEA.

I enjoyed how despite some very tough and sad times, the author managed to make you smile and give you hope. Gut-wrenching and brilliantly written. All the feels and definitely a must read!

I was more than convinced by Prescott Lane’s vision of love! Love in all its form; from the good to the hardest times, and how you’re willing to make it work and not take it for granted. Take a chance on this book, you won’t be disappointed, just follow Prescott Lane’s lead and feel it!! Book hangover alert!!!

Stripped Raw by Prescott Lane
3.5 stars!!

“True love isn’t a man who can handle your piss. It’s a man who can handle your shit.”

Stripped Raw is a book about life and love, sacrifices, loss, second chances and shoes!! But this is not just your typical romance, the strongest, most intense love connection in this book is that between step-sisters and it was inspiring and beautiful to read about.

Kenzie is fiercely independent, self-sufficient, sassy and headstrong but she has the hugest of the hearts and has a lot of love to give, especially to her family and in particular her step-sister and her little niece. Kenzie had upped sticks to come to help her sister who had her own battles to face and she had literally given up everything to start all over once again. In a grotty apartment that also housed her work shop Kenzie was starting up her hand made lingerie company that delivered the personal touch, personally measured and personally made for the perfect fit and it was finally beginning to take off.

“That’s the thing about regret. It never dies, never lets go. It swallows you whole and makes guilt your best friend.”

Nothing could have prepared Kenzie for life after the TV interview with one of the most obnoxious men on the planet. Being the sassy one with no filter she gives as good as she gets and thinking she has totally bombed the interview and preparing for damage limitation the phones go mental for the woman that put him in his place, after all, any publicity is good publicity.

Kane Hunter is said douchey interview man’s brother, also his lawyer and he is sent to do damage control with Kenzie, however, Kenzie was not what Kane was expecting. Kane was divorced and was definitely not looking for love but there was something about Kenzie and Kane couldn’t stay away.

“Love without regrets.”

Life was not easy for these two, not by any stretch of the imagination. Both Kane and Kenzie’s personal lives were up in the air and they both had a lot to deal with. But there was no denying the connection that these two shared. When Kane loves, he loves hard and this guy really puts himself out there and wears his heart proudly on his sleeve. You could not help but fall in love with Kane Hunter, he was adorable!!

“I love your crazy shit, your ugly shit, your angry shit. I love it all.”

Kenzie cannot see how beautiful she is both on the inside and out and has a lot of hang-ups, especially with regards to always being abandoned. It takes her a lot to trust anyone and Kane has an uphill battle to get through to her with regards to his intentions. Kenzie though was a selfless human being and her relationship with her sister was just the best. Even though these two were not related by blood their connection was impenetrable. There was nothing that these two would not do for the other and their relationship was the highlight of this book for me.

“Don’t be so scared of losing him that you miss out on loving him.”

Prescott Lane delivers a touching book for which you will probably need tissues, I know I did. It is emotional, it is beautiful but the underlying messages were delivered with intensity and compassion. It was a book I couldn’t put down and had my heart racing a mile a minute at times. With a good dose of angst this book will have you running the gamut of emotions but will have you smiling from ear to ear by the end.

"One of the most beautiful parts of loving someone is how it changes you - not how it changes them."

I'm not sure if there's a more perfect quote to sum up this book.
Stripped Raw is a beautiful story that is so heartfelt, so heartwrenching, so full of feelings, it really packs an emotional punch.

Kenzie Scott has so much on her plate when Kane Hunter takes a wrong turn (ha!) into her life. A wrong turn that ends up being the best thing that ever happened to her, and to him. I completely adore Kane, he's kind and generous, patient, he's strong and tender, he's an alpha male with a heart of gold. And Kenzie, she is fierce and loving, devoted, brave, and beyond passionate about her family.

This book deals with some very real situations, and they are handled so incredibly well. My heart ached for Kenzie, Kane, and Tessa, as they each came to terms with some really difficult issues in their lives. Ms. Lane did a fantastic job of bringing these characters to life, allowing us to relate and to feel everything they were going through. I laughed and I cried right along with them. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this book.

Minor spoilers alert!!!

Writing style:
Dual POVs

Cover design: The cover really caught my eye and I pre-ordered it mainly because of that. I love it!

‘That’s the thing about love. Anyone can love you when you’re young, beautiful, and life is perfect. But true love is loving someone in their shit.’ ~Kenzie

It took a while for Kenzie to come to the above realization, but Kane’s sad past and his knowledge that love and time were precious motivated him to help her reach this conclusion. The pacing and progression of their relationship was so satisfying for me. I really appreciated Kane’s determination to prove he wouldn’t be like those people who had disappointed Kenzie in the past. He was incredibly patient, supportive, sexy and never wavered from his “all in” commitment. I thought Kenzie tended to jump to the wrong conclusion easily, but she was mostly quick to listen to reason and give their relationship a chance to deepen. Although it’s not a light read in light of her sister’s condition, there were enough humorous moments added to the mix to keep it from being an overly downer of a read for me.

And poor, courageous and funny Tessa and cute little Zoe were hard not to like. Tessa gave both Kenzie and Kane good advice when needed. She was truly a cool big sister and gave me total big sister envy. I loved that their Sister Sunday tradition would continue on although slightly altered now with Kenzie and her niece Zoe.

Una historia que peca un poco de cursi aunque podría haberlo soportado si no fuera por las continuas inseguridades de Kenzie, eso fue lo que me arruinó un libro que en un principio tenía todos los ingredientes para encantarme.

Una verdadera lástima.

I have a new book husband and his name is Kane Hunter, but before I get to him and all his perfectness (yeah that’s a word), I will tell you a little about Kenzie Scott. Kenzie is a “yes” girl. When the opportunity to go to Europe and design lingerie, she said yes, when she hooked up with her ex-douche Charles, she said yes, when her step sister, Tessa, asked her to come back to Texas because she’s dying of cancer, she said yes. Kenzie is now working back in Dallas Texas and trying to run Kenzie Lingerie from her little apartment. Kenzie has an interview with a morning show that can make or break her success, when she hears the sexiest voice she’s ever heard, but not until she also overhears the host talking out of his ass.

At first I had a serious girl crush on Kenzie, especially putting the host of the morning show in his place “Do curvy women make your pencil dick look even smaller than normally is?” Kenzie has the normal issues we curvy women have with our body image, although sometimes she was a little extra with her insecurities with regards to her body, although I have to admit that I would crack up every time she talked to her ass, good times. Kenzie just wants to focus on her business and helping her Tessa out with baby Zoe. What I loved about Kenzie’s lingerie line, is that she made lingerie for the everyday woman with body image issues, she wanted them to feel sexy.

Why is Kane Hunter my new book husband? Well besides the fact he’s a dirty talker Alpha man. When that man loves, he loves with all that he is. Although he is divorced, it was not his fault (or his ex-wife’s fault), how his previous relationship ended, was really sad. He adores Kenzie’s baby niece and calls her Dimples. He’s so loving and devoted and makes sure that Kenzie sees herself sexy and desirable as he sees her. And boy did that man have patience of gold, especially whenever he would get “cock blocked”, but mostly whenever Kenzie had the propensity to “run” from everything. Kenzie has some serious abandonment issues, which I totally get, and this is why my girl crush ended. Tessa, on the other hand, really won me over. For someone that was dying, she wanted to live life to the fullest, even if it hurt Kenzie. This book had some funny sweet moments, but some heart breaking ones as well. I got emotional a lot throughout my read, especially reading Tessa’s letter to Kenzie.

Prescott Lane’s writing will evoke a lot of emotions, and I love that about her writing. I do love Kenzie, I just wanted to pinch her at times with her insecurities, but I loved her humor. Just so you know, Kane is already mine, hence the Book Husband title! So on release day, I hope you one click Stripped Raw because as the title so eloquently mentions, it will strip you raw.

~ 4.5 Love Without Regrets Stars ~

Prescott Lane has grown into such a beautiful writer. I have loved and enjoyed each of her books that I have read. They continue to get better with each new release she has!!! In every book I read by her, my emotions are put through the wringer. I love that she can create stories and characters who feel like a part of me and I am immersed into their story.

Stripped Raw is so much more than just a love story between the Hero and heroine, it is also a journey/love story between two sisters. I thought the writing was flawless and the pace and flow of the story was well done. My only complaint about this story and what held this back from being a 5 star book for me, was that I thought the drama of Lily lasted a little too long. I get why she is in this story, but I thought that part of the storyline dragged on just a little too long, but it didn’t take away from myself enjoying this book. I will warn readers that the author does tackle some serious subjects in this story and some might be hard for some to read. I also want to let readers know that if you aren’t a fan of the instal-love type story, than this might not be for you. I personally didn’t have a problem with it, but some might.

In this story we meet Kane and Kenzie. They meet by chance and are thrown into a whirlwind romance. Kenzie is a Lingerie designer, who moved back home to help with her sister Tessa and niece Zoe. Kane is a high priced lawyer, who has always put his work first. When they meet the sparks fly and neither can deny their attraction to each other, but let me tell you….their road is not an easy one. Will Kane and Kenzie be able to get over all the hurdles in their way to get their HEA?? You’ll need to read this book to find out. I really LOVED Kane’s character. He was so lovable and swoony. I loved that no matter what he wasn’t about to back down or give up…on anything!!! Kenzie drove me crazy quite a bit, but I still liked her. She has some serious trust issues. She was really good at running away, and that got a little old by the end of the book.

We also meet some great secondary characters, but based off the storyline you could almost say they are just as important as Kane and Kenzie were to this novel.

So if you are looking for that book that is filled with so much emotion and a storyline that will keep you intrigued, then give Stripped Raw a chance. Make sure to have tissues next you, you will need them. Stripped Raw is a standalone novel with NO cliffhanger ending.

If you are bored off with the swaggering, dirty talking, alpha, look no further than Stripped Raw. Kane Hunter is a man who shows emotion, is soooooo romantic, swooony with babies and - if I knew how to do bold on Goodreads I would use it now - HE HAS GREAT TASTE IN SHOES!

Kenzie Scott hides her emotions. She wants to be strong. She is independent. She will not allow a man to hurt her again, because she won't let them in. Her life is about her best friend Tessa who also happens to be her sister, her beautiful niece Zoe and her fledgling business that she has a passion for. There is no room for a man.

Stripped Raw made me cry because I share a very personal experience with Kane. Not saying what it is - spoiler free review here.

There are some powerful messages in this book too, women - love your curves, women - you deserve lingerie that makes you feel confident no matter your size, your disability, your scars, injuries. You are beautiful scars, warts and all.

This is the second book I've read by Prescott Lane and I've loved both. Each different rather than following a theme. She is becoming a must read author for me.

Now, off to buy shoes and lingerie. Where can I find Kenzie to make me something sexy that hides my stretch marks?

If quotes were shoes, these ones would be Manolas:

"Sexy isn't about a size on a label or a number on a scale. The idea is that every woman, no matter her body issues, has the right to feel sexy, pretty, confident."

"I'm being drawn here by some mystical force. That's a lie. The force isn't so mystical. It's currently eight inches long and rock hard."

"The only thing close to nice lingerie is shoes. No single item of clothing can change a woman's whole attitude like the right bra or the perfect stilettos."

"One of the most beautiful parts of loving someone is how it changes you - not how it changes them."

"You'll never dance alone again."

"It's you I want - the real you."

Stripped Raw is the newest standalone novel by Author Prescott Lane. Is it a friends-to-lovers, contemporary romance novel.

"That's the thing about regret. It never dies. It swallows you whole and makes guilt your best friend."

Kenzie has a unique and rather fascinating business. She designs the apparel that makes women feel sexy and supported. Behind the confident business woman is someone complex and caring. She's got curves that she is desperately trying to love, and she has a distrust with most of the male race. Kane is successful, has a way with words, and is quite perceptive. His life is a bit complicated, so feelings and emotions with women are off the table.

"One of the most beautiful parts of loving someone is how it changes you - not how it changes them."

Change is a funny thing. Sometimes a person makes a conscious effort to pursue it, but there are times when change chases and thrusts itself upon them. Change is the master of Kane and Kenzie's story. Told in duals points of view, it created transitional paths for many of the characters in our story, most notably Kane and Kenzie. They were easy-to-love and hard-to-let-go-of characters, each having their own special qualities that resounded with selflessness and concern for others. In the midst of their story there was an equally as prominent subject that revealed a great deal more about Kenzie and her family. At times it made my heart faint and my lungs unable to hold air. Stripped Raw was a uniquely written novel, that also provided a generous amount of steam cleverly penned into this fragile telling of love.

"Love without regrets."

6 STARS, Yep 6 !

This book is one of the most beautiful book I've ever read.

I don’t even know how I will be able to do this book justice.

I want to say that I am in love with Prescott Lane’s writing but it would be too small of a word.

I want to say that I fell in love with the characters right away, but I fell in love with the cover first.

I want to say that this book met my expectations but it is so wrong. This book was so beautiful, so powerful it exceeded my expectations.

Real love is when you love and are loved in the light and the dark, the happy and the sad, the past and the future. But to experience it you will to summon your fears and be stripped raw first.
It is a big step, a huge step that you will take willingly and jump head first with your eyes wide open, hoping the other one will accept all that you are .There is so much vunerability and sensibily coming out of each character you can't help but fall in love with them.

Kenzie and Kane are two fragile characters but yet they are so strong. Both of them have a past that shapes their present and bring insecurities right in the middle of their lives.

From a young couple in the early stage of their relationship, we follow them every step of the way, living and witnessing a profession of love, listening to a heartbreaking past, a confession, a truth we don’t want to hear…

Stripped Raw is also the story of two sisters, of a bond so strong, so pure and perfect, that nothing and no one can part.

This book is so much more than what I expected, SO MUCH MORE.

I still have my heart beating faster when I think about it.

4.5 raw stars!! I found this book under Kindle Unlimited and the description grabbed my attention. This is definitely a love story, but not just between Kane and Kenzie. There's also Kane and Lily (his ex), Kenzie and Tessa (her sister), Tessa and Brandon (her husband), and everyone and little Zoe. Cancer is a mothersucka and whenever I read about it, I know my heart's going to be crushed. And it was. Tessa was such a spunky piece of work and it was difficult to read about her wasting away, to the point that she couldn't even take care of her daughter Zoe. But I loved how wonderful these characters that Prescott Lane created were. Everyone rallied, especially Kane and Kenzie. Goodness, Kane's love was unreal. That was some real wholehearted love right there. Despite all that he went through and what he lost, his heart still had a great capacity for love and it shone through in everything he did. I loved him!!

Although the book has an insta-love kind of vibe, the paving makes it a bit more believable. Besides, this couple was in absolutely no rush to hop into bed together. They took their time and learned about one another. The way love should be.

My Stripped Raw Review . . .

I was excited to read this as I have liked other Prescott Lane book and I quite loved it but there were some things that I didn't completely love.

Kenzie is a yes person. She's a strong person. She's loyal and family orientated. But she's also a runner and assumes instead of listens. She does this to protect her heart but her running became too much for me at times.

"Why waste time? No one is promised a tomorrow."

Kane has made mistakes in his past. His hurt has caused him to be different this time when it comes to love.  Now he loves with no regrets and whole heartedly .

Kane and Kenzie meet under wrong circumstances but connect immediately.  With Kenzie comes a lot of baggage with her sister being sick, her niece, and her insecurities.

Tessa, Kenzie's sister is the rock of this book. She's the glue to Kenzie's heart she's also the light, happiness and reason when needed.

"Don't be so scared of losing him that you miss out on loving him."

Kane knows what he's getting and that's what he loves best about Kenzie. However, he has his own baggage and secrets as well.

Kenzie and Kane don't have an easy journey with everything going on but Kenzie's running and assuming make it so much worse for them.

I quite liked this book and I was heading for four thumbs up but Kenzie's insecurities and running drove me crazy. Don't get me wrong I totally get her reasons but it got to be too much for me and sadly those qualities are my biggest pet peeves with heroines within this genre. With these issues I was going down to three thumbs up, but then Tessa ... Gah, Tessa's story broke my heart and  she was one of the biggest reasons I liked this story which made me finalize my review with 3.5 stars!

This story about tore me apart inside and then rebuilt me. I cried so much yet laughed at the same time. This is the mark of a great story. This story really Stripped Raw everything—you have to read to understand and OMG, the hero , Kane Hunter, is one alpha male that I would love having- he is kind, romantic, determined to do right, stands by family and boy he is so sexy- #1bookboyfriend material. I’m getting ahead of myself. Let me tell you about this beautiful yet emotionally evocative story.
Kenzie Scott has come back to the US and to care for her very ill sister and baby niece. She also has just started up this fantastic new business and she had an interview on the local tv show to promote her new business/company when the interviewer got nasty so Kenzie got right in his face and this was on live air. The interviewer flipped out afterwards and called his brother Kane to “fix his problem”—that being Kenzie. Kane goes to talk to Kenzie and he ends up just falling immediately for her—her laugh was what was it and her soul and feistiness was another selling point. OMG I loved their interactions. As the story progresses , I find out that Kenzie’s sister is dying and she is taking care of her baby niece at the same time working to get her business off the ground. What an awesome young woman. There is more to this story, and that involves Kane—he has a backstory as well. Whenever he sees baby Zoe-he can never say her name. Then he never wants to take Kenzie to his house until later in the story and there are times he has to leave or he isn’t where he says he is. I will say he isn’t cheating BUT he has a past he hasn’t shared with Kenzie and it is heartbreaking.
Kenzie and Kane are soul mates and are made for each other. Yet they have so much pain that it blinds them to what is in front of them. Kane sees it but it blinds him, Kenzie is blinded to things because of her sister’s oncoming death-it involves her baby niece- there are emotional twists and turns to this story that made me cry so much. I used up a whole box of tissues over this fantastic story. I <3 Kane and Kenzie because what they have is real and it is brutal because they love so much. I cant say enough how much I recommend the read of this story. There are supporting characters that you will find yourself wishing had more time, more chance to stick around. What a lovely , beautiful story where you find love when life is slipping away. I couldn’t put this book down until I finished it, it was that good –so it was 2:45am. Ms. Lane has done it again with a great story.

My rating: 5 stars *****

KENZIE
She’s a very strong character and very stubborn. She deals with life head-on and she never says no to whatever life has thrown at her. It has not been easy, but she’s moving forward and taking one day at a time. She had no room for any man, much more for romance. She has a new business, she’s living with her sister Tessa, and her adorable niece, Zoe.

She’s not perfect. She has curves and she’s proud of it. She makes lingerie for other women that make them more confident with themselves no matter what they look like – their imperfections, shortcomings, scars or injuries. Talk about woman empowerment.

I love her relationship with Tessa - they have a very strong bond that no one or nothing can come between. It's one of the most amazing and heart-wrenching part in this book. Their relationship that has been tested by time and fate. But Tessa is so much braver than Kenzie. She fought such crucial battle that no weak person could survive. I haven't understand her decision at first, but in the long run, it worked out and it was for the best.

KANE
He’s not your usual alpha male – he’s a breather from the stereotype I always read from books nowadays. He’s really sweet, he’s really good with Zoe, sensitive with Tessa and pretty much amazing with Kenzie. He knows exactly what to do or what to say to her. Maybe that’s why Kenzie made a room for him in her life. And the thing he did with the shoes: OMG. Total swoon right there!!!!

I love all the issues that were tackled in this book – it’s real and it’s heartbreaking. I don’t think you’d finish this without your heart aching or without some tears coming out from your eyes. I wanted to talk more, but I’d be giving out spoilers. Just trust me when I say, emotions are just all over the pages and pretty much overwhelming! You couldn’t put this book down, you’d hold on to it until you’re finally done!

This story does exactly what the title says. It strips you raw.
Kenzie has been left by her father, mother, her exboyfriend, and now Tessa, her stepsister, is going to leave her also. She has made herself stronger by not getting upset, not loosing control, not showing any emotion that could break her.
The story is of a girl, Kenzie, who designs Lingere and has started her own business. Her sister helps her when she is able but, with a baby, breast cancer and a diagnosis of a few months to live, it's not a lot.
She at the TV station, getting ready to be interviewed, when she overhears a conversation, by Deacon and Kane. Deacon makes some comments about her to Kane. Kane has a great comeback, which Kenzie hears and it makes her laugh. Kane hears the most beautiful, infectious laugh, from the hallway and jumps up to see who it was. When looks he catches a glimpse-red soled, killer shoes, perfectly toned calves, and long, dark auburn hair.
I have read a few of the authors books and she has a way to make the emotions of the characters as real as the emotions you feel while reading the story. This story is no different. The laugh, the smile, the confusion and the anger. You can feel it while you read the words.
This is a mandatory one-click, especially is you have already read any books by Prescot Lane.
Another emotional read from a very talented author.

Please do not ask me to explain it but when reading Stripped Raw by Prescott Lane I had the constant feeling that I stepped into “Rich Man – Poor Man” reloaded. In case you do not know what I am talking about – which would be understandable since it is a very old Series – I would say that this Series is the one I am always thinking of as the Grandmother of TV novellas – loooooong before Desperate Housewives was invented.

I think it was the relationship between the brothers – or maybe all those different plot strings around the characters that mad me think of this connection – I will never know. But basically I totally enjoyed the plotline, even if at times it came off as a little too much.

I could not fully connect with Kenzie’s character as she seemed superficial on one side and suddenly so involved when it came to Tessa

Tessa I really liked even if I felt that there were parts left in the dark that only surfaced at the end of the book.

Kane was my favorite character in this book. He had so many layers that the reader was surprised with each page turning as he showed sweet sides as ease as the domineering though alpha male.

Great read

I received a copy of an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first novel by this author and it didn't disappoint. I would recommend to anyone wanting a smart, sexy read, a love story not only between a man and women but at its heart, the love between sisters. And shoes.

The story is about a confident, smart, career-focused woman Kenzie, her relationship with her sister Tessa and her niece Zoe, in addition to her meeting Kane, the handsome lawyer.

I thought this would be really cheesy but it wasn't. The lack of communication between the main characters annoyed me as it does in a lot of books but for the most part I loved reading about the developing relationship. I really appreciated that the characters took things slow and didn't just end up falling into bed with each other after first meeting like so many of the books in this genre.

I appreciated the family element and the focus on the career of Kenzie. She didn't want to give everything up, in fact she was prepared to give her relationship up first.

Don't keep reading this review if you don't want to know about the issues that pop up.

trigger warning: This book also dealt with some serious issues (some more briefly touched on than others) such as eating disorders, abuse, losing a child and terminal illness.

This was the first story I have read by this author and it will not be the last. The story has laughs and heartbreak.

This is Kenzie and Kane’s story. Kenzie is taking care of her sister and her niece. She is broken and does not need more pain in her life. Kane is a lawyer and barrels into Kenzie’s life. He also broken but determined not to let that keep him down. He wants Kenzie and will do everything in his power to have her. Can he convince her he is the one for her and he will help heal her not break her even more? Is she ready for that or does she already has enough on her plate to deal with? The connection between these two is off the charts. Can these two broken people really heal each other? Or will one just let the other go? There journey will not be all roses and sunshine they will have many obstacles to overcome that makes them stronger in the end.

This author knows how to break you and help you put the pieces back together again. She will have you living the pain and heartbreak right along with them both. I loved these characters and also the side characters. There are some tear filled moments and some anger filled moments in this story. But all in all I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.
