The story of Ian 'Lemmy' Kilmister, bass player and leader of the band Motörhead, as seen through the eyes of the fans, friends and bands who have played with him, including - Fast Eddie Clark, Girlschool, Supersuckers, Dead Kennedys, Anvil, Anti Nowhere League, UK Subs and many more. The book is already available in paperback as well and has been receiving many, many 5* reviews and great compliments. Buy the book and feel the love for the Legend that was Lemmy!!
In this book the author has invited people to share their stories of Lemmy. Sounds good until you start reading and realise that he must have just copied and pasted each email he received. It was akin to reading the comments section of a website. Some of the contributions are barely literate, while a large number are no more than 'I like the music but I never saw them live'. The blurb states that the book contains a contribution from Fast Eddie but this is untrue as what is contained is just the statement that Fast Eddie posted to Facebook after Lemmy's funeral. Scattered throughout are set lists but since they nearly all date from 2010-2015 they don't offer an insight into Motörhead's set over the years. There's also some very low resolution pictures of concert tickets. As a huge Lemmy fan I was able to get some enjoyment out of the book as some of the stories offer up something new, but I'd advise you stay clear. The proceeds of the book are donated to charity, so I'm loath to dissuade people from buying it so please spend the money that you would have spent on the book by donating to charity instead.
firstly I am featured in this book. It’s a great idea to compile memories in this way, especially in order to raise money for charity, and I defy Amy Motorhead fan to read it and not get choked! criticism has to be the lack of page numbers in the publishing of this book life would be a lot easier with them!
