As a child, thoughts of far-off places and adventure consistently kept Lori up late at night. After graduating high school, she came to the conclusion that there was no better way to seek adventure and nourish her love of history than to become an archaeologist. She went on to receive a degree in anthropology, but digging in the dirt during humid Midwestern summers wasn’t exactly as fun as she thought it would be.

Instead, she went to work in an air conditioned museum where she spent her days surrounded by creepy Victorian animal mounts. Still, she wasn’t satisfied.

Deciding the people in her imagination were slightly more exciting than the dead things in a museum basement, she set out to write her first romance novel. That book was soundly rejected. As was the next. Years went by and she began to wonder if she’d ever see her dream fulfilled. Until one day she came up with an idea for a book that brought together her love of history and adventure: a book now titled Wild Heart. Since Wild Heart's release, Lori has written Historical Romance, Contemporary Paranormal Romance and Young Adult.

Lori currently resides in the Southern U.S., where she juggles her time between a husband, a son, a golden retriever, a cat and the many, many people in her imagination.

I'm so in love with Thane!

I've waited with baited breath for this book to come out! It seemed like it took forever. I read The Chosen Ones over and over to get my fix until The Forsaken Ones came out. Now I can hardly wait for the next one. Please Lori, hurry and write the next one!

I waited for this book for so long I began to wonder if the series as good as I remembered. It is! The book ends with what feels like a partial resolution, but I want more. PLEASE write another book about Jane and Thane!

4 stars!

This was the ending book of The Beautiful Ones Series. And it should be read only after reading the 2 previous books - The Beautiful Ones and The Chosen Ones.

I enjoyed this book. It was a true Adventure; a tale of inner strength and survival in a messed up world and society.

There were lots of surprises and unexpected things here, that made the book's plot flow and it, an entertaining read.

And there's not much of a love triangle here (as there was in book #1) fortunately.

Overall, although this might not be the most complex (or realistic) book (or series) of all; it truly makes for an entertaining Dystopian read. If you like this type of books, I'd say give this Series a chance, as it seems to be underrated... and I think you'll probably enjoy it.

Summary of the book could easily be "Jane does something stupid, and Thane saves the day."
...
...this book was frustrating.

Jan Jane Jane

Soooo much took place in this book that I am tempted to write as spoiler. I was ecstatic to see that Jane and Thane were doing something constructive. Jane is still finding herself. It is sad that this was the end. I hope Lori does another book for Jane. I need to know what happens in the future.
Overall this was a fantastic book and series.

As much as I liked this book, I just felt like it was a little too... all over the place. Action and chaos just for the sake of action and chaos, or something. Don't get me wrong, it was still enjoyable, but I also found myself skimming over parts of the story and not feeling like I was missing anything that kept the plot moving. The first two books were definitely more enjoyable.

Great ending for this series. It is written for a mature audience.
The first in series is rather short in pages, however it packs a punch and sets the tone for what is yet to come. I prefer this approach.
I highly recommend this book to anyone whom enjoys dark fantasy. I am not sure if that is a true genre. It just came to mind. Enjoy!

Great trilogy

I think this series would make great movies. Definitely be a hit on the big screen. Her characters are warm, caring, scary, deadly. All at once you get caught up in their lives. You want more and more. Who survives? Who falls in love? Who turns on who? It keeps you reading well into the early morning hours.

The Forsaken Ones

I did not want the series to end! I really hope she decides to write more. Very good book. It seems like the heroin was really just starting to fully develop and while some things are predictable, there were some good surprises.

Kept me interested

I enjoyed this vampire series and the way it gave me both an eerie and edge-of-my-seat feeling throughout much of the story. I fell in love with Clarice and the many facets and quirks of her personality. I still think about that devilish little cutie now. She stayed with me. I also enjoyed the relationship that developed between Jane and Thane, though I think I wished it were spicier. The only negatives: I felt the ending was rushed, and I wished it were better edited (though even editors miss mistakes). Other than that, it was quite the gem of a story, and an interesting journey to take with a fresh character.

I loved it. I didn't expect it to happen but it did.
With so many YA vampire books out there, I thought anything new I read in this genre would sound cliché. Well, it didn't. I liked the fresh perspective.

I liked how the relationship between Jane and Thane was built. It left me craving more.

Jane's transformation was believable and I've grown to like her. She grew a lot during those three books and I was excited to follow her along on her journey.

I've become a huge fan of Thane. Just like Jane, I would follow him to the ends of the earth. Usually I am not into the brooding silent male character type. However, I am a huge sucker for the honest, caring, I-would-kill-anyone-trying-to-hurt-my-girl type. And in addition to all that, Thane is a bad-ass. Awesome chatacter I really fell in love with.

To be honest, I feel this series is underrated. Brighton advertises the Mind Readers as her best selling series, but to me it (at least the first book) is average in comparison to the Chosen Ones series.

Things I didn't like.

The love triangle. Come on, seriously. The most repeated cliché in the history of romance.
Will became extremely annoying in this book - I had a hard time reading about him and his demands regarding Jane's feelings. A man (boy) who can't leave a girl grieve and instead is constantly pushing her to be with him, is selfish and appalling. It contradicted the image we got of him initially - of someone who's patient, understanding and brave - a born leader.

The unexpected relatives popping up here and there were a bit too much at times, but I guess it made sense to have them, at least for the sake of the plot.

What bothered me most of all, though, was the spelling mistakes. There were so many of them on so many places throughout the whole book. As someone in here mentioned it felt like reading a raw initial draft. In the final chapters a couple of times the author mentioned Ethan, when she obviously meant Will. Mistakes like this drive me crazy. I almost gave the book fewer stars because of this. I believe it's disrespectful towards the readers to publish a book without a proper edit.

However, the fact is, I wasn't able to put it down. I read it in one sitting - from start to finish. And as I sit here, just after I've finished it, I find myself wanting to start again from the beginning right away. For this, I am going to let this one go and give it the five stars it deserves.

Fascinating world Lori Brighton has created...vampires, dhamir, and humans in a struggle to survive. Humans raised as food for the vampires rise up and fight. Jane and Thanos as the main characters are tough, driven and share a love for each other like none other...the will they, won't they drives you to finish this novel quickly. Have enjoyed both Chosen Ones novels and the novella, The Beautiful Ones.
