شتات أهل الأندلس: المهاجرون الأندلسيون

La emigración de los habitantes de al-Ándalus, ya sea motivada por problemas políticos o económicos internos, ya sea por la paulatina disminución de su territorio hasta su final desaparición tras la conquista de Granada (1492), tuvo lugar durante un largo período de desde el siglo IX hasta la expulsión de los moriscos a comienzos del siglo XVII. Los diversos desplazamientos de la población andalusí se produjeron en dos una, hacia los territorios cristianos del norte de la península Ibérica según descienden las fronteras políticas hacia el sur y, otra, hacia los territorios islámicos de la costa sur del Mediterráneo y del Oriente Medio. Por ello, los fenómenos relacionados con la diáspora andalusí constituyen un campo de estudio fascinante para los intercambios culturales. Los andalusíes fueron transmisores culturales de sur a norte y de norte a sur, ya que algunos grupos, como el de los moriscos, viviría primero más de un siglo en territorio cristiano, antes de ser expulsados e instalarse, en su mayoría, en el norte de África. En el legado andalusí depositado por esta diáspora, se encuentran algunos de los principales factores comunes de ambas orillas del Mediterráneo Occidental. Mercedes García-Arenal es Profesora de Investigación del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (Departamento de Estudios Arabes, Madrid). Historiadora del Occidente musulmán, se ha dedicado, entre otras cosas, al estudio de sus minorías. Entre sus libros dedicados a estas cuestiones : Inquisición y moriscos. A brief and very well balanced insight into the minorities of Medieval Spain --Arabized Christians, Jews, Muslims under Christian rule... And a good start to put the tragedy of the Moriscos in context.

I thought I was going to be the first to review this book but I put it off and my friend, César Lasso, beat me to it. Darn.

The book is part of a series, Enciclopedia Del Mediterraneo, a series which provides an overview of the entire region surrounding the Mediterranean. I read the titles and am tempted to continue reading through the series in its entirety. Each of the short, well researched books is written by a different academic. If this book is any example, the series is excellent. The books are also short. This is a plus for me because the books are only available in Spanish so I spend a great deal of time with a Spanish dictionary, but at just over 100 pages, the book is quite digestible, despite the new vocabulary of words specific to Spain at the time of Al-Ándalus. (I'm currently on another volume: Al-Ándalus: saberes e intercambios culturales by Maribel Fierro.)

The author, Mercedes García-Arenal, leads the reader through the various mixing and remixing of peoples and cultures through the period of the Islamic domination of Iberia to the so-called re-conquest by the Christians and beyond. The focus is on the people and the culture and it's fascinating. The book brings a clear view of what led to events to come.

المؤلفة حاولت ان تكون محايدة ولكنها لم تنجح وخصوصا لعدم ذكرها لمحاكم التفتيش - واحدة من ابشع الجرائم الانسانية في التاريخ - اللهم الا ذكرا عابرا
مأساة اهل الأندلس على مدى قرون من الطرد والتهجير والتعذيب والقتل تم اختصارها في بعض صفحات عن حياتهم في الشتات داخل وخارج ارض الاندلس.
الكتاب فيه الرد على المهزومين نفسيا الذين يعتبرون طرد المسلمين واليهود من الاندلس هو طرد لمحتلين من قبل اصحاب الارض الاصليين والذي حدث هو طرد للسكان او جزء منهم من قبل جزء من السكان بالتعاون مع مرتزقة مأجورين وتم توطين آخرين أجانب مكانهم.
مأساة الأندلس تحتاج المزيد من التعمق في كتب أخرى لوجهات نظر أخرى.
