What I loved about this book was the heat between the hero and heroine. I enjoyed watching how Jake and Natalie met. The heat in his gaze when he spots her and the slow way they come together and begin dating. I loved Natalie's co-workers (while working at a ski resort in Aspen). They were fun, charismatic, and real friends you could picture meeting in your everyday life.
What I didn't love about this book... Pretty much everything else.
The story never explains why someone who used to be an Olympic-Gold-Medal-winning-water-polo athlete went from that to...prostitute? I would imagine having the money to get anywhere near water polo would allow you to choose a career that didn't involve being a gigolo. And if you did, I'd think the story would involve a downward spiral of drugs, shame, and secrets. Maybe after the high of winning in the Olympics the only thing that could equate to that was the danger of prostitution? I'm guessing here because nothing is ever said about it. Not. One. Thing.
His friends act neither surprised nor disgusted that he stumbled into this line of work. In fact, his best friend mentions at one point how many opportunities Jake has to get into coaching (because who wouldn't want to learn from an Olympic athlete) yet, he won't choose that as an option. Let's guess how much someone could charge to give private water polo lessons.
Along the lines of a strangely nebulous backstory, no mention is made about his family (who must have paid to get him started in the exclusive world of water polo) and how they feel about what he decided to do after winning a GOLD medal in the Olympics.
If, however, you can get beyond these basic confusions and contradictions, you still have to deal with Natalie's reaction to his being an escort. She is only slightly put off and discouraged and never asks why he started doing it and kept at it for as long as he did.
Overall, I found Natalie to be weak. At one point Jake demands they be together while he's still with other women (working). She doesn't like it, but simply accepts it. That she doesn't speak up and could be fine being one of a long list of women being "serviced" by Jake was a huge turn off for me. She seemed scared to speak her mind and demand respect and value be placed on her and what they were building together.
Because I lost respect for the heroine, it became harder to care about her burgeoning relationship with Jake. To me, the author picked a plot line because it was unique (you don't often find stories about male escorts). But once the plot was chosen, Anderson lost interest in doing the work to develop the backstory to support why Jake was an escort in the first place and why Natalie was the woman who finally shook him up enough to consider stopping...eventually.

Hm, I liked the characters and the setting (wintery skiing village) as well as the minimal drama level. But I feel like I read an infinetely better „male hooker meets nice girl“-variation in Price of a Kiss.
All felt very rushed to me and I felt like the characters deserved a better developed story.
This was a freebie on Amazon, but I regret downloading and reading it now, it wasn't worth my time...

First of all, the cover of this book simply R O C K S!!! For real, it’s one of the best ones I have ever seen. It has such a great variety of colors that suits the story ideally. And it has the power to make you want to read the story without needing to read the blurb first. It is really amazing.
Secondly, the story can only be described as sweet, wonderful and emotional. It’s a definitely has-it-all romance. You can’t help but fall in love with it and its characters. As long as I entered the world of Intercepted, it was impossible to get out. It sucked me up so bad!
Every single chapter made more and more to yearn to be a part of it. From the first sentence that I read, it became obvious that I wouldn't put this book down any time soon. And while I was going deeper and deeper into the story, I just shut out the outside world and dedicated my whole focus on savoring Natalia, Jake and every other character in it.
Jake is just capital-A Awesome and capital-H Hot!!!! He might be a bit closed-off and guarded when it came to feelings, but when he entered the game board along with Natalia by his side, his true self just shined and I was swooning a million times per minute. I was so jealous of Natalia some times……. :p But, besides that, these two captured my heart and made me fall madly in love with them. Each one, is one world of its own with their struggles and ups-and-downs. But when they are together and acting as a unit, then they are the universe. As they were going along, they were changing and starting too see the world around them and inside them with a different prespective. And what came after that, is plain spectacular.
“There is one flower here for every day that I have known and loved you, Natalia. One hundred and seventy two, to be exact.”
J. Q. Anderson spellbound me with her writing and “kidnapped” me into her book’s world. Her words were flowing smoothly, not only on paper, but also through me, making me a willing victim of Natalia and Jake’s unique love. I was so into it that I never understood how fast the hours were passing by. As I said, she made me totally tune out everything around me. And I can’t be more than grateful because of it!

This book tells the story of Natalia and Jake. Jake is an escort and Natalia works at the hotel Jake is staying at for work. Their relationship takes off from there and it slowly starts getting bigger and bigger, until they are both unsure of how to handle it.
This was such a cute book! It read away very easy and I liked the characters. It did feel a bit like I was reading fanfiction, but that's okay, I enjoy it for time to time (it's true I do ha). When you read the story it feels like everything is happening in a very short time, but it actually happens over a timespan of months, the writer wrote a "very quick" book compared too some writers who go in so much detail it feels like the story took place in a timespan of years. I liked the way the characters got described, I could really imagine the way they looked (Natalia looked so beautiful, that sounds really weird doesn't it) Jake made a really great character progress which I enjoyed, because from the start I just knew he would be the sweetest guy he just didn't want to give in to it yet. I realllly liked the end of the book, it was perfect (a bit cliché but I dig that).

First off I think as far as first books go, the author did very well. Since the author is from Argentina I'm sure she had to have the book translated. I feel like that is where some errors came into play. Which is why I'm giving 4stars. Overall I enjoyed the story. It was a bit predictable at times but I still couldn't put it down. Natalia was a well rounded leading lady. Jake had his a**hole moments that for the most part stemmed from childhood fears/heartbreak. Marc I saw you coming, meh... I liked the secondary characters as well. I think a few had potential for their own story. I would read Dani's and Zack's. There were some steamy moments and a bit of drama but maybe not a high impact plot. That being said, I still enjoyed the story and I didn't get bored.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.
I am really giving this book more like a 4.75. Mainly because I was not immediately pulled into this story. At first, it is just a girl meets boy regular book, but then things get juicy and I don't mean just the sex! It is like passion erupts in Colorado and then moves to California. The last half of the book I read with a tightness in my chest and just kept reading. I became so emotionally invested in the book that I could not put it down. This was a wonderful surprise read.

Aside from the steamy scenes, there is very little character development in this story and the title is totally misleading, I am still trying to understand why Intercepted...
Natalia is an Argentinian girl in the US training to be a chef... she is working as a waitress at a ski resort in Aspen when she met Jake.
From here it gets so bizarre I am not even sure it's worth mentioning but let's go... first, when she meets Jake in Aspen he is there with another woman. Natalia has a fiance but still accepts dinner and a cozy dance with Jake and they almost make up... okay.
Then she finds out Jake is a prostitute and is slightly put off by this tiny piece of information (say whaat?!). She has no selfsteem and does not know how to say NO.
Jake says he is a male escort and they hookup... what does she do?! - I'm on the pill, if you are clean we can go condom-free - WTH? Are you a freaking moron or what? He is a prostitute! This was way too absurd... then he says he does not do serious relationship. Weeks pass and she has decided she cannot do casual with him, she wants to break it off but Jake convinces her not to... what does she say?! "Oh I don't know Jake...". She said "I don't know Jake" so many times in this story and still put up with everything like she had no voice and no will power.
So then they start this bizarre "relationship" when she gets to San Diego and even knowing Jake was out with his clients (and having sex without protection as well, btw) she does not freaking open her mouth. OMG.
She was from Argentina... there was so much to be explored! But apparently all the author knew about Argentina is that it is in South America... there was nothing to enrich the story with.

Intercepted is a proper romance novel, the kind I spent the last two months looking for. I enjoyed it excessively.
The story revolves around Natalia and Jake who meet at a ski resort in Aspen, where Natalia works, and Jake is a guest. As soon as they lay eyes on each other sparks start flying, and feelings develop as they battle their demons. It sounds appealing so far, doesn’t it? Now, let me fully convince you.
The story is told in two POVs, which are easy to differentiate (hallelujah, may I add), and do not merge into one, thanks to the beautiful writing Mrs. Anderson had done. She has a developed writing style, I can tell that future novels will be just as good, if not better.
I read this book in one sitting, dying to find out what happens next. The pace of the events is right on point, as well as the characters. The only small glitch I can point out is that the development of the characters, which is present, could have been described more.
Despite this, the book is a wonderful read, and I recommend it to all suckers for an amazing romance novel.

I don't usually write reviews so I'll go straight to the point. I really enjoyed reading this book because everything just felt so real, it wasn't farfetched or over the top. It is probably a 4,5 star read for me, but I didn't hesitate rating it 5 stars because it's an astonishing debut novel and J.Q. Anderson has, I hope, a bright future.
I had some troubles with Jake's character but I guess it's just personal. I wish we could have seen more of his sweet and loving side, and not just the troubled side.
Anyway, great and entertaining read, I'm looking forward for more books from this author.

This is an amazing start to this Authors writing career. I look forward to reading more from her.
The past haunts both Jake and Natalia. Jake cheers Natalia on to conquer her past but he sucks at taking his own advice. It takes Jake loosing everything to realize that he has to conquer his own past.

Natalia is just finishing Culinary School in Buenos Aires but working at a Ski Resort in Aspen. She is looking for a job in the US where she wants to work. Jake is a paid escort when he meets Natalia in Aspen while he is working. They are drawn to each other but Natalia has a boy friend in Los Angeles. When their relationship ends suddenly Natalia and Jake act on their feelings. Great read.

Great strong leading lady. Yes she does lots of crying, but I feel it was warranted. Would have been 5 stars if the HEA would have a bit more at the back end, more than just the epilogue.

3.5 Stars - J.Q. Anderson’s debut novel, Intercepted, is a sweet new adult story of self-discovery and learning to live when life doesn’t go according to plan. J.Q. Anderson definitely had me intrigued by Natalia and Jake. Their unusual personal histories and unlikely meeting had all sorts of potential that I was excited to explore in this novel. I very much enjoyed the chemistry that J.Q. Anderson has crafted between them. They not only shared a steamy attraction to one another, but there was also a hint of hesitance and uncertainty as they both found themselves treading in new water. Natalia’s inability to stray from her carefully planned life and Jake’s fear of looking beyond the here and now made for an interesting push and pull between these characters. Moments of incredible frustration and amusing surprises were born from their internal struggles, giving this story an entertaining lightness that I very much appreciated.
There was a lot going on in this novel and at times the importance of all of the pieces was hard to keep track of. A multitude of secondary characters rounded out the cast, providing new ways in which to experience our main couple. I loved the insight that their presence provided although I craved more depth from the various relationships. While the connections were present on the surface, I needed something more in order to really grasp the relevance of those friendships to the overall development of the storyline and to Natalia and Jake’s personal growth. I also would have liked to further explore the emotional weight of our couple’s journey. Both Natalia and Jake came from such unique backgrounds, but I felt as if we barely scratched the surface with them. It wasn’t until the end of the book that they really had any sort of significant emotional exchange, and had we seen it sooner, I think I would have found myself more connected to and invested in this couple.
Overall, Intercepted was fun, fresh, and steamy in all the right places. J.Q. Anderson definitely nailed the physical connection between Natalia and Jake and each of their interludes left me grinning. Sparks flew from the pages and I couldn’t help but find myself caught up in lust with them. Natalia’s personal growth was one of the best parts of this story. I enjoyed the way in which J.Q. Anderson unraveled this character, breaking down her carefully planned world and forcing her to look at life from a new perspective. The strength and independence Natalia found along the way and the courage she demonstrated in chasing her dreams on her own terms was deeply satisfying. J.Q. Anderson’s writing is smart and thoughtful, utilizing brilliant imagery to paint a picture in vibrant color. I looked forward to seeing how J.Q. Anderson will grow as an author and develop her talent. Intercepted is a heartfelt debut into what is sure to be a promising adventure for this new author.

Told in the POV of the two main characters, the story takes the reader on an awkward ride through the icy slopes of a slippery and endearing love. In the beginning, each grapples with its own drama as well as the underlying and intense attraction. It’s like we’re reading their diaries, diaries filled with hopes, fears, and dreams.
It takes a while before you can really get into the story, but you’ll feel the instant connection between the two characters. A good portion of the book mainly consists of the two pining for each other. That’s probably because she is engaged and he is a…..well, a hooker. So there’s another complication.
Story is well-written for the most part. I especially enjoyed the candid thoughts of the two as it relayed to the growing attraction (Natalia was shy and reserved while Jake was more direct and confident – well, he would have to be for his “occupation”) Certain areas lagged a bit too much with superfluous scenes as well as endless assortments of looks, touches, and flirting. After a while, this gets a little weary. Of course, I was pleased with the unexpected twists and turns that came about.
Overall, this was a sweet and interesting romance. A one-of-a-kind. It’s Pretty Woman in reverse.

Potential five star book
I really enjoyed this book, the characters, the plot, etc. It has a lot of potential, but it needs some polish. The characters are real and likeable, but they need some developing. The author really only scratched the surface of who Natalia and Jake are. We only have some vague understanding of what makes them tick. Readers get to fall in love with their relationship and the intensity of their instant attraction, but we don't get to fall completely for them as people because we are held at arms length.
Also this book needs some serious editing help. It is not so full of errors that I gave up, but there are enough of them that it warrants letting the author / editor know that the book deserves another read through to correct the mistakes. Normally i would not finish a book where i encountered this many mistakes, but that I did is a true testament to how much potential there is. Leaving the book in this condition is a serious disservice to a good story. The formatting also needs fixing - paragraphs should either be indented or have a blank line between to signal a change in paragraph. This book is formatted left justified and that makes it harder to read. I really hope the author puts out a second edition of this after employing an editor to point out the errors. All in all this is a great book, especially considering that it is the author's debut novel. This is a stand alone novel with a HEA.
I really enjoyed this book, the characters, the plot, etc. It has a lot of potential, but it needs some polish. The characters are real and likeable, but they need some developing. I had no respect left for Natalie by the end of the book. She jumps right into a deadend relationship right after she broke off her engagement. Then when she starts to figure out what she really wants and pushes Jake away because he can't give her that, what does she do? She considers letting her cheating jackass of an ex back into her life, FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS! For one I can't find it in me to like a character who takes back a cheater. And two I can't respect someone who will only marry someone because they can give them financial security. Like she's still hung up of Jake, but is thinking of taking Marc back purely because of the "perfect" future she thinks she'll have with him. Pathetic, I thought she was shallow at the beginning of the book, but by the end I KNEW she was.
And don't even get me started on Jake... he doesn't want to get hurt so he pushes her away, which ends up hurting him even more. Talk about self fulling prophecy. And when he finally pulls his head out of his ass she decides she wants to be with him instead of Marc. Like it was that easy. Saying "I love you" shouldn't fix everything. But for them it apparently does. The ending was lacking in so many ways. Weak epilogue for sure.

3.5 stars. I enjoyed reading about the friendship and love between Natalia, Dani and Zack good friends from Argentina working in Aspen as waiter and waitresses while on student visas. Natalia is engaged and is approached by single men visiting the ski town. She decides to go to LA and surprise her long distance finance when her interaction and attraction to Jake an Olympic gold medalist and male escort scares her. Natalia receives a shocking surprise and ends her engagement returning to Aspen. Jake who cannot get Natalia out of his thoughts make a proposition to her that she accept. We see her go from a strong young woman to a woman who doesn’t realize her self-worth. I went from liking Jake even with his questionable job to disliking him immensely. Natalia endures heartbreak, revisit from her ex and does some things trying to find herself that had me shaking my head. The storyline wrapped up abruptly and you get a bit more of what happened to the two in the epilogue.

April 25, 2016Made it to 16%. The stilted speech and dialog was killing me - the lack of contractions and super formality. I could kinda forgive in Natalia as I think she may not be a native English speaker (can't really recall much of her background details, and that says it all for me), but all the character dialog was like that. Also the blatant plot-convenient device for getting the two MCs together, how for the most important internship of her life, Natalia didn't really read all the requirements and just checked boxes because she wanted the spot. Really? Come on. That's a personal pet peeve laziness in writing annoyance of mine in stories. Did not care about either MC or seeing if they got together. Bummer, because the male escort/prostitute trope is one of my hooks. Didn't do so much hooking here, in any manner.
