Up In Flames series, book #1

When East Street Firehouse’s new recruit Jagger wanders up to the bar at the local firefighters haunt, he finds a half-naked woman pouring rum on herself. He can’t resist doing a body shot—or six—and a fiery night leads to a morning filled with questions. Like who is she and where can he find her again?

Following a bad breakup, Hanna works hard to keep men at arms’ length, but she can’t get Jagger out of her head. Showing up at firehouse’s building repairs fundraiser definitely isn’t a good idea. Neither is winning his services, which happens to be a day of yard work. Or maybe she’s made the right decision after all—she does have a bush to be trimmed.

Two nights with Hanna leads to more, and he’s distracted enough to make a critical error in judgment on a five-alarm blaze. He walks right past the arsonist, believing the man a victim. Throwing himself into finding the criminal means Hanna is back to feeling neglected and unimportant in the only relationship she’s taken a chance on forever.

As more and more arson fires pop up over the city, Jagger has no choice but to fight them. Which leaves Hanna worried for his safety and wondering why she took a chance on a fireman of all people. But he can’t ignore the blazing inferno of lust raging out of control between him and Hanna either. Can he strike a match of understanding in her before she runs out of his life, or will his superhero ways sever his chances forever?

Another scorching read from Em Petrova! Jagger and Hanna are combustible when they are together but Hanna doesn't want togetherness. Hurt from a previous relationship, her walls are up. Jagger knows how to tear them down. With baggage of his own, he's out to win Hanna with whatever it takes. A little too bossy in the bedroom for my tastes but Hanna loves it and slowly her walls start crumbling. She's scared, she runs, she ignores. Jagger is on a mission and he intends to win.

Hanna and Jagger get together and combust from the first body shot. Hanna is trying to find that next jolt of adrenaline and Jagger is trying to keep an arsonist from continuing on his path of destruction. Both have issues to work through to be able to commit to each other. Can they see past old hurts to find a bright future together? I enjoyed this first in a series and recommend it.

Hannah is a thrill-seeker who doesn't do relationships - only one night stands. She meets fire-fighter Jagger while laying on a bar with guys doing body shots off of her. She ends up going home with Jagger and then leaves without giving him her last name or any other info on her. But she can't stop thinking about him. Jagger finally tracks Hannah down, and they start sort-of seeing each other. Meanwhile, Jagger and the fire department are dealing with an arsonist and Jagger's infatuation starts interfering with his work. I really liked both Hannah and Jagger! This was a short and very sexy story - I just wish it was longer!

This was a hot story!!

Jagger and Hanna are one hot couple. I loved the way they met all the way to the end. I loved how bossy but yet caring that Jagger was.

Hanna was a little more difficult for me to like at times. I understand the pain she was going through, but she wasn't acting very adult or keeping Jagger's feelings in mind. I think a simple conversation could have eased a lot of their issues.

I can't wait for the next book.

New Recruit (Up in Flames Book 1)

Hot! Hot! Hot! Put your reader in a cooler before you read this one unless you want a fire in your hands! Intermittent cold showers might be recommended as well.

Jagger and Hanna need to be hosed down after every time they are together. Jagger is a new member of the East Street Firehouse. He is a totally hot, hunky, sexy young stud. One night he meets Hanna laying on a bar taking body shots. Their mutual attraction is instantaneous! He takes her off the bar and to his new apartment around the corner. The sex is totally mind-blowing, but she is gone the next morning and Jagger can't find her. He doesn't even know her last name. He searches everywhere for her.

Hanna has been wounded deeply by a cheating, lying ex and has sworn off relationships, and rarely even dates. But her sexual desires (and more importantly an unrealized desire for real love) has her looking to meet up with Jagger again.

They meet at a fundraiser auction for the firehouse. Her gay friend drags her there so he can bid on a fireman at the station. Jagger spots her and chooses Hanna (instead of her bidding on him) and pulls her outside and takes her to her apartment, so he knows who she is and where she lives.

She is extremely attracted to Jagger. He is a lover beyond compare. There is never any challenges with their lovemaking. Jagger makes sure she is totally sated every time. She has never experienced sexual pleasure that was anything close to their fiery connections!

But her fear of commitment continues to hold her back. She wants to trust Jagger, but is so wounded from her past, she has built an impregnable wall around her heart. Jagger continues to do everything possible to chip clinks in that wall.

Will Jagger's persistence tear down her wall of isolation? Will he succeed in helping her learn to trust him or is she incapable of loving again? Will he fall in love with her? Will she gradually break her isolation wall, so she can perhaps some day love again or will her fears continue to rule her life? Can Jagger's love and persistence heal that hole in her heart? Will one stupid near fatal act bring her to her senses? Will they ever find an HEA?

This is the first novel I've read of Ms. Em Petrova. Wow! If I had known she wrote such HOT novels, I would've read her novels earlier! The novel starts out HOT and gets hotter!

I'm not much into the bar scene, but if I had a sexy, hot firefighter doing body shots off of me, I'd go more often. Jagger is the new recruit of the East Street Firehouse. He lives for fighting fires and the adrenaline rush he experiences from rescuing victims from fires. After one such fire, set by an arsonist, Jagger finds himself at the bar that his fellow firefighters frequent. There he "meets" Hanna. Hanna, also a thrill seeker, is laying on the bar allowing people to do body shots off her. When Jagger approaches, he starts off with body shots and ends up practically having sex with her on the bar. They do make it to his apartment where they indulge in a one night stand--so they think.

They are explosive and can't seem to get enough of each other. While Jagger realizes Hanna is "his", it takes Hanna MUCH longer to decide what she wants. Hanna's indecision is the only reason I gave this a 4 instead of 5 star rating. It took her too long to decide! If I had someone like Jagger wanting me FOREVER, I'd be on it! Lol.

This is a stand alone, but has a cliffhanger in that we don't find out who the arsonist is at the end of the story. It is a HEA! If you like firefighter stories, I'd highly recommend this novel.

>Book Review – New Recruit

>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the first in the Up in Flames series and ends in an HEA for the relationship and a cliffhanger for some of the plot. Hanna is the most interesting female character I have read in a while. She is an adrenaline junkie. I think her boring job probably contributes to her fetish for danger. Jagger is a fireman who first sees Hanna lying on a bar in her underwear having body shots poured on her. Jagger partakes and never lets her go. The body shot scene seemed a little racy for taking place in a public bar. Hanna actually seemed a bit unbalanced to me instead of an adrenaline junkie after her body shot adventure.

>The relationship between Jagger and Hanna is a tough one with Hanna constantly pulling away. Jagger is perfect as the alpha male jealous of everyone. I loved his reactions. There is a character, Hanna’s creepy co-worker that is introduced and then ignored. He seemed dangerous to me. I hope he appears in more of this series, otherwise his introduction made no sense.

>The life of a fireman is touched on, with the stress of the calls and the camaraderie. A plot line dealing with an arsonist is introduced, but not resoved. I really enjoyed a glimpse into the lives of Hanna and Jagger. This story is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the book 5 stars.

If you’re lucky, you will get burned…

Whew! Whether it is cowboys or firefighters this author knows how to heat things up! This is a quick, sexy read that packs a huge punch as Jagger and Hanna meet, fall into lust and then love…

Do things happen quickly? You bet. Too quickly? Maybe - it was so much fun to read and follow along though that I simply couldn’t care all that much. Hanna has been burned in love before. She doesn’t want a relationship so drunken body shots and a one night stand are just fine with her. Jagger is happy with the one night. Two nights were exceptional. He realizes that two isn’t nearly enough and the pursuit is on. Hanna is reluctant but fate is going to smile on Jagger as they are unexpectedly brought together again. They have another chance to figure things out and, happily, burn up the sheets while they do it…

Fun, flirty and sexy as heck this couple has to fight with each other, and a suspected arsonist, to find their happily ever after. And did I mention Jagger is not the only sexy firefighter at the East Street Firehouse? He has more than a few friends who sound equally intriguing and I can’t wait to learn more about them!

A hot and steamy read from Em Petrova.

Em has abandoned her cowboys (but not for too long I hope!) to set this series in a Fire Station.

Book one does not disappoint....Jagger and Hanna are both haunted by events in their past which have helped shape them into the people they are now.

Their growing love for each other and the ups and downs of their relationship are set against the background story of an arsonist and the race to capture him before serious loss of life occurs.

The plot is pacy, the characters are well rounded and believable and the sex...oh my, the sex...is hawt!

My only quibble with the book (hence 4* instead of 5*) is the somewhat abrupt ending. I would have liked to know who the arsonist was and how he was found.
Unless they had the wrong man and the hunt continues in Book 2???

All in all a thoroughly enjoyable read.

Although I was gifted an ARC by the author (in exchange for an honest review) I was already over half way through the book when the ARC arrived as I had it on pre-order!

I know that the name of the series, Up in Flames, has to do with the firemen in the series, but this book is so hot, that it is surprising that the book does not go up in flames. Jagger, yes, I like that name too, is a sexy, new fireman who meets Hanna, an adrenaline junkie, at the neighborhood bar, where she is lying on the bar taking body shots. When Jagger starts drinking, it is one of the hottest scenes that I have read, and that is at the very beginning. It starts out hot, and stays that way. It also is a great story, that you do not want to put down. I received this book from the author in return for an honest review. I highly recommend this book if you like a good, steamy romance.

This fireman has his work cut out for him

Hanna has been burned by her ex can this hunk of a fireman save her from her closed heart. A great journey into Jagger and Hanna's story. It is full of passion, laughs, danger but mostly full of love will they both give it a chance. This book is filled with hot sex scenes that cold showers are needed when hubby is away. This is another great success for Em. This author made me love Cowboys all over again and now fireman not sure heart can take it. This is a must read.

I did not expect this story to take the path it did after the way it began. Awesome!! Jagger and Hanna had great chemistry from the very beginning. He was determined to break through her defenses. She was just as determined to protect herself, until she couldn't.

I do love a good firefighter tale. The only I was was that we could have read about Jagger's reaction to the arsonist. This was a quick read that was hard to put down. It kept me completely engaged.

I received this book as ARC in exchange for an honest review.

New Recruit by Em Petrova is fantastic!! This is a fairly short read, perfect for those with limited time for reading. Ms Petrova has delivered a well written book. Fireman Jagger and adrenaline junkie Hanna's story is full of awesome characters, action, humor, drama and smokin' hot sexy bits. I enjoyed New Recruit and look forward to reading more from the talented Em Petrova in the future. New Recruit is book 1 in the Up In Flames Series and can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

Jagger and Hanna steam it up in this one. It's fan yourself HOT! Fireman Jagger is the new recruit finding his spot with his new crew. Jagger and Hanna have a ton of chemistry. Hanna is all about one night stands because she just won't risk her heart again. Jagger definitely makes his case of there is more to them then just sex. One question can he convince Hanna? Things get pretty interesting at the fire station with the arsonist upping his game. I liked the secondary characters too. I can't wait for more from this series.

5 ALARM. 5 STARS

I think this is Ms Petrova's best book to date !
Hanna & Jagger have a hot hot hot love story with some substance and excitement especially with the firefighting scenes . Certainly hope there are more books in the series . Up until now I thought her best riding was the Dalton boys , but I may have to change my mind . There are more characters to explore with the firefighters !

This is a quick, fun and steamy read. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This is a well written tale of fireman Jagger and Hanna who he meets in a bar. The story revolves around an arsonist and the fire crew cleaning up his crimes.
There is great chemistry between the characters, plenty of fun and sizzle.
It was over awfully quick and I wanted a bit more...bring on the next book so I can see what happens next.

Quick and steamy! This seems to be a great start of series, with multiple possible characters introduced.

So close to 5 stars!!!! Honestly, it's some of Hanna's personality traits that just drive me insane!

Hot and sizzling and I’m not talking about the fire call outs. Couldn’t put it down because I needed to know what happened next.

I enjoyed the chemistry between the two and the faster pace of the book. Good writing with some life lesson themes that we could all use.

Stand-alone book 1 in a series—can’t wait for the next one.

Short, steamy, and with all kinds of feelings, New Recruit managed to give me my fireman fix while leaving me saying "awwwww" at the end.

Jagger is the new recruit at the firehouse, and Hanna is a wild-child at heart working a stuffy day job (I can totally relate!!). The two of them ignite on impact (see what I did there?

I wanted to love it

I normally enjoy Ms. Petrov's work, but this time I just couldn't. Hanna was so self centered and shallow there was no way she deserved a hero like this. I guess there are people like this, but I just couldn't like her.
