Rate this book
This edition is the original, 2016, edition. It has since been updated and revamped, and can be found here.

Before the Prescott name became big in the hockey world, there was just Noah Prescott, fighting for a spot on an NHL roster. Never did he imagine a simple note from a shy fan would speed up his world.

Ryleigh Scott had an issue talking to men, but she knew she couldn't pass up the opportunity to talk to Noah -- potentially negative labels, be damned. Never did she imagine a simple note would start what could only be described as the beginning of the rest of her life.

This is Noah and Ryleigh -- before the NHL contract, before the kids, before going back home.

This is Noah and Ryleigh from the beginning.

Spoilers ahead

Ryleigh is a hockey fan and has been to all the hometown games, she's got a liking for player Noah and finally at her friend's urging passes him a note
Noah has had his eyes on Ryleigh for a while but has been trying to figure out a way to approach her, the note lets him know there are feelings there but it's not until his buddy intervenes does Noah take his shot
They go from eying each other, to sex, to basically living together in two shakes. Some dumb arguments, immature comments from his friend and foolish reactions from the mcs lend some drama to the plot

********
The writing style of this book was all over the place, the mcs were immature and the plot actually made no sense. I'm reading the next one just because I'm curious to see if the writing improves
The ending was cute with all the kids however

No cheating
Slight OW drama
h wasn't a virgin but not far off
H was a manwhore but had become more picky in recent times(so he says)

I really enjoyed reading Noah and Ryleigh's story.
Their story is the beginning of "The Prescott" family series.
I loved reading their trials and tribulations and of course the growth of their love for one another.
This is definitely a slow-burn love story, so if your looking for a "wham-bam-thank-you-mam" kinda story then this book is not for you.
Noah and Ryleigh are wonderful together, and the reader will be able to see why their children turned out the way they did when 'you' read their stories (I've already read Caleb's story Interference).

The reason I'm only giving this story a 3-star rating is because "I" had a hard time with the story being written in the present time.
The author originally wrote this story in 2008 and went back and spruced it up and re-wrote it in the present.
I think my problem is that I had read Interference first, and to read Caleb's parents story written in the present time when "I know" they have a 24ish son.. well I had a hard time with that.
In my mind, Noah and Ryleigh were dating in 1992, and there were no cell phones, texting or watching games on the internet back then.
I think the author brought it into the present to attract a younger crowd and used terminology they would understand (and I'm afraid I'm dating myself), but I really appreciate stories that are written in the proper era (ie: in 1992- DNA fingerprinting is invented and Bill Clinton was made President of the US).
I know this is a fictional story and that nothing is 'real', but for me, the time-frame kinda has to make sense.

I will continue on with this series because I really enjoy the author's writing and storytelling, and I can't wait to read the rest of"The Prescott's" stories.

If you haven't read about the Prescotts, this is a good place to start!

This is a complete rewrite of a previously released book of the same name. I have to say that I really liked the original story, getting to know the very first Prescott couple, Noah and Ryleigh, who started this amazing family. However, this brand new 'From the Beginning' has blown me away!

Omg, right away I got worried that there was going to be some heartbreak and tears and that some of that heartbreak and tears were going to be mine! I have fallen in love with the Prescott family and the books in this series...Mignon knows how to write great hockey action and hot hockey players! However, I soon discovered that the undercurrent of this story wasn't going to be a happy one and that Mignon Mykel also knows how to write words that make me cry. Noah and Ryleigh are so perfect for each other, but their life together didn't come easily and their story feels so real. "So many stories. So many memories. There were tears, there was laughter… And in the end, there was love."

As added bonuses, there's the original Epilogue and some chapters of both Interference and the Playmaker Duet, which I'm pretty sure will get your one click finger itching, if you haven't read them yet.

I had several books that I needed to review and as I was pursuing my collection, I saw the cover for “From the Beginning” and knew that this was the book that I absolutely wanted to read. There was something about the cover that just grabbed my attention and normally is a good sign for me …. if the cover is good what is underneath the cover must be good too!

This was the first book that I read from Mignon Mykel and I really enjoyed the story of Ryleigh and Noah. One of my favorite type of books is the alternating point of views from the characters and “From the Beginning” is this exact type of book. Furthermore, it is my absolute favorite type of genre – Sports Romance …. when you throw in that it is hockey, this Canadian girl cannot help but finish the book in less than one day … It was that good.

The connection between Noah and Ryleigh felt so real, did not feel rushed and was very enjoyable to read. At times Mignon Mykel inserted humour into the storyline which was a great comedic relief, along with the romance, the sensuality and hotness of the love scenes between Noah and Ryleigh, it was just a fantastic read.

If you are into Sports Romance, Romance, Hockey or just looking for a good read, where the characters are honest, developed and the storyline is pretty well written, then From the Beginning is the Book for you. I definitely cannot wait to read more from the Mignon Mykel and will definitely follow her. She is a great writer and Sports Romance writer and I hope to read more of her books in the future. This is a definite must addition to your To-Be-Read Shelf … don’t wait till the next hockey season ….

I just love sports romance and hockey players are my favourites (don’t ask me why because I have never actually seen a game) so I am extremely excited about this debut. Finally I have another series of hot hockey players to sink my teeth into.

Ryleigh is rather shy and introverted but make no mistake- this girl has no qualms about standing up for herself, I just loved her. Noah is the star player for a local team and has dreams of making it big. This was such a sweet slow burn romance and I adored the two of them together. Their uncertainty about their feelings and future, the attraction they both felt, their banter and interactions were simultaneously sweet, funny and sexy.

From The Beginning has just enough angst and drama to keep things interesting and although they do have their set of problems to overcome this was just a really really really enjoyable read! It will make you go all gooey in all the right places. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the series holds, not only because I loved the romance in this one but also to what kind of people the children of these two will turn out to be.

Opening Line
“Of all the stupid, juvenile things I could have done, that certainly put the icing on the cake.”

What a great read! I really did not know what to expect when I signed up for this blog tour. Something about the synopsis just caught my attention and I decided to give it a go, and am I ever happy I did!

The opening line was so catchy and immediately grabbed my attention. As I continued reading I just couldn’t put From the Beginning down! I ended up finishing it in 3 sittings, and it probably easily could have been 1 if I did not have to work.

Noah Prescott is your typical hockey player who’s trying to make it into the NHL and not looking for love or anything long term. Now Ryleigh, who was hands down my favourite character, was shy and quiet and not at all what Noah expected. While these two seemed like opposites I found their relationship blossomed easily! The intensity between them had me rooting for them from the beginning. HA! See what I did there?

Around of applause for Mignon for such an amazing debut novel! The writing style was easy to follow and I never found there to be any point throughout From the Beginning that was filled with fluff or unnecessary chapters. I really cannot wait to read the next book in this series! Hopefully the wait won’t be long!

From The Beginning is the tale of Noah & Ryleigh's love story and the beginning of their journey and life together. Noah is an up and coming hockey star with his sights on the NHL and Ryleigh is trying to find what she loves in life. The last thing Ryleigh thought she'd be doing is dating a hockey player she thought was out of her league, but Noah is just as intrigued with the quiet beauty. Sparks fly when these two touch and their chemistry is undeniable. Noah is so hard headed and Ryleigh is such a strong independent character reading this love story was a complete pleasure and I adored this story so much. A perfect prequel to "Interference" and backstory to the Prescott romance. 5 Stars for From The Beginning by Mignon Mykel

This story gives a good background to the future settings of the Prescott Clan.
The story was interesting and the epilogue fast forwards to 10 years ahead
so you get a glimpse of what future stories will entail.
My only complaint is the time frame, some of the inventions weren't around
at that time so you forget that you were reading in the past and it seemed like
the present.

I wasn’t prepared for all the tears! It was a little embarrassing since I was on a plane. So be warned! Don't read this in public if you can help it.

Something that Mignon does so well is creating real characters and stories. She doesn't hold back any punches when it comes to their troubles and triumphs. She also expertly creates a sense of family. She must have an amazing one to be able to write like she does. Or she wishes she did. Because not only do the Prescotts have unconditional love and support from within, they also have created it among their teammates. Without that, I don't believe these men and women would survive everything that Mignon throws their way.

I have been waiting to read how the epic love between Noah and Ryleigh began. Their story was sweet if not a bit stressful. Poor Noah never stood a chance at keeping his heart once he laid eyes on Ryleigh. She was everything he never knew he wanted and more. But getting to the point where they could finally be all in was a bit rocky. It was an enlightening and sweet story, one that I wish was a bit longer. I didn't get enough of them.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Readers Copy of this book.

Loved this. Book!

I've never been much of a hockey fan, but after reading Mignon's book I might start! I truly loved Noah and Ryleigh's story!
Ryleigh was such a kind, sweet and a little self conscious girl but as she began to open up around Noah she became this self assured beautiful woman.
The thing I loved about Noah, was how he slowly let Ryleigh into his life . It wasn't fast or rushed but slow and easy, like falling a sleep; they tried to fight it and stay 'friends' but in the end they fell!
The only thing I didn't like was Jason! He seemed so sweet and maybe he was jealous, but he was a real jerk!
If you want s really great story then read From the Beginning: A Prescott Family Story!

There's a reason I've always loved the Prescott family. And that's because of the love, affection, trials, triumphs, and just over all amazingness of this family. And you know where that comes from? Ryleigh and Noah!!

I so wanted my hands on this story. I'm sitting here writing this review with tears rolling down my face but so much so enjoying the sweetness of this story. Noah and Ryleigh's story was a whirlwind but it was there's. It was heartbreaking at times but mostly it was beautiful and full of happiness and love. So yes, we finally have Ryleigh and Noah's story, but really? We've had their story all along in this big amazing world called the Prescotts!

Original review: A Novel Glimpse

Note: This review is for an ARC and is my unbiased opinion.

4.5 Stars
From the Beginning was a novella about the Prescott family matriarchs, Noah and Ryleigh. I loved learning how they met and fell in love through Noah’s eyes. He reminisced about all the important moments in their lives. It was so sweet!… And it was a little sad. There were many moments where I found tears in my eyes.

From the Beginning was a very emotional read. I would highly recommend it to readers who love the Prescott Family series.

Love finds you 4.5 stars

Coming across this read was a complete accident. And a because of the cover. I love the cover. Saw it and since the book was free, 1-clicked it and proceeded to read.

From The Beginning is the story of Noah and Raleigh's life. Their first encounter had me smiling huge. Their second, not so much. I wanted to grab Noah and shake him hard. Raleigh's shy nature to Noah's bold persona, the Then and Now, back and forth, had me curious.

This was a sweet story of two souls who were brought together by fate, well meaning foes and true love. I loved every single page. Wish this was a full length novel, instead of a novella.

I have fallen in love with the Prescott family and the books in this series, so it was great to finally get to read where it all started with Noah and Ryleigh (yes, I'm reading out of order!). Luckily, these books are written in a way that if you don't actually start "from the beginning", you'll still enjoy the series. Noah is definitely not without his faults, but he's hot enough that he can be forgiven ;). Ryleigh is perfect for him, but I already knew that! Enjoyed this story so much and can't wait to read the rest of the series that I missed.

My poor heart! This novella is amazing!

I love the Prescott family! Every story in this world, I have devoured and completely enjoyed. This prequel novella is everything I wanted and more! I absolutely loved getting to see how the Prescott kids’ parents love story progressed.

The best part of this quick novella was the way it flashed to the past and then returned to the present. The chapters flawlessly switch back and forth as Noah reminisces about the past as he tries to heal in the present. This story had my heart breaking in a million pieces only to be put back together with love and tenderness. The epilogue was a wonderful way to give a glimpse into the future and to what the rest of the books in this series have in store.

This story gives a beautiful look at where the love and strength that is ever present in the rest of the books comes from.

Note: I did not read the original edition of this novella but not because I didn’t want to. I rushed to pick up this one as soon as I could after I heard that Mignon was re-editing the original story.

I am a new reader to this author and have not read all her books (I plan to fix that in the near future, wink wink) though what I have read has made me a HUGE fan. You can read this as a stand alone but personally I would hate that. I want to be in the know of ALL the characters. Having said that, it is possible to follow this story and love all the characters. The reading of this book is a beautiful journey, with somewhat haunting of emotions afterwards. We have Noah, narrating and reliving his love story with Ryleigh. This method of telling is creative and moving especially by seeing everything through this amazing man's eyes. It was authentic and heartfelt. You experienced his feeling for the love of his life as well as see the importance of fatherhood through his interactions with his children. This is a magical short tale that brings out 'ALL THE FEELS'. I highly recommend!!! Happy Reading!!!

This is the love story of Noah and Ryleigh and the wonderful life that they created. Their love spans the period of almost forty years as they triumph over the heartache and happiness that spans their life. This is an emotional story that shows how close this amazing family is even under the most heartbreaking circumstances.

I have loved every book in this series and this is no exception. It has all the feels as it will make you laugh and make you cry. I voluntarily received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.

This novella tells the story of Noah and Ryleigh’s beginnings. How they met, fell in love and moved on to bring their amazing family to life.
Noah Prescott will take us through the ups and downs of their relationship in hindsight after 39 years together and it’s an emotional ride.
Once again the author has given us a beautiful and heartfelt view into the lives of the beloved Prescotts and, though it is a short story, it’s packed to the rim with love, emotion and heartache.

I won an e-book copy of From The Beginning in 2016 during a takeover. I had never heard of Mignon Mykel but after I read I‎t, she instantly became one of my top favorite authors. I fell in love with Noah and Ryleigh and thus was sucked into their world and that of their kids.

This version of From The Beginning is much different than the one I fell in love with, but I fell in love all over again. For I‎t to be a short book, I‎t had my emotions all over the place. I️ laughed and I️ definitely cried. Keep the Kleenex handy if you’ve read about any of the Prescott family, this book will break your heart in the worst way.

Grab a tissue before you start. Mignon Mykle writes some amazing characters. Some of her books should come with a tissue warning though. She definitely knows how to make your heart pound and your pulse flutter, but she can also rip your heart out and stomp it. This story was definitely a tear jerker in some parts.

This is a rewrite of a previously released book of the same name. It's always fun to see how an author has grown since their earlier books. The original was good but this is fantastic. I think after this book you will definitely want to read others!

Reading the story that started it all was good. I mean come on these two give such great support, love and advice to their kids in the stories that follow so it was a story I looked forward to. The story was good with clips of their strong and heated time together and getting to know and understand their feelings. The books that follow are wonderful and fun and so are the characters each unique and solely Prescott's.

I loved the story of how the Prescott’s began. I was lucky enough to read the originally version, so I was a little sad to miss Ryleigh’s perspective, but at the same time, it made me love Noah even more. To see how much Noah loved her and his family. It was never a question, but I love the new perspective. I thought there were still some date discrepancies with phrases and items and even between other books, but it didn’t affect my love for this book, the author or the Prescott family.

Great start

Ryleigh is shy and reserved. Noah is a American Hockey League player in Beloit, Wisconsin. After Noah received a note that she wrote him, these two begin a whirlwind romance. Their relationship is not perfect but they make it work.

This is the first book I've read by Mignon Mykel and I really enjoyed it.

From the beginning by Mignon Mykel is a Prescott Family Origin Story and is a novella that slides in at number 2.75 of the Prescott Family series.

This is a cute back and forth of how the parents of the Prescott Family, Noah and Ryleigh, first met and how their relationship developed and where they are in the present.

I love this family so much and being able to read Noah and Ryleighs beginning was such a fantastic insight to them as individuals and as a couple.

I loved the back and forth between past and present as it made all the emotions and interactions amplify and mean so much more.

Such a great addition to a wonderful series.
