I really love his books if you haven't read them you should. WWJ books are extremely captivating. Especially Preacher's the First Mountain man series, Smoke Jensen series, Matt Jensen, Perley Gates, and etc... Love them All
I have read most of the western series (and single books) written by William W. Johnstone and find that his style of writing actually brings the reader into the action, the scenery, transports the reader into each storyline. William W. Johnstone also bridges some of his main characters of a series into other series and that makes each unique but at the same time, all are continuing epics or sagas. By adding factual events or alluding to factual events also helps paint the entire scene. Making the reader believe that someone like Preacher or Smoke Jensen or "Stoneface" Finnegan or any of the characters in his western novels could be people in real life. William W. Johnstone's female characters, in this era, are generally portrayed as strong, beautiful, daring and self-confident. I highly recommend all the western novels written by William W. Johnstone. Rarely do I start a book of his without sitting down and reading it cover to cover.
