Things Rowan has been trying to avoid for the many years since she was first turned. Her choice: to sleep away the darkness; it beats having to deal with the craziness of life. Or rather, death. However soon after awakening, she stumbles upon a lone figure whose presence is shrouded with mystery.
She assists him in his search for answers making it even more difficult for Rowan to forget her past. She realizes she can’t hide forever as she is literally being sucked back into her chaotic world: a world where both fallen angels and vampires exist, manifested on earth as lapsus and lamia.
Not particularly … friendly with one another.
Rowan struggles to resist her hunger as a demon vampire while dealing with unwanted desires for a fallen angel from the past: a relationship that could only spell trouble. Not to mention the unresolved feelings she still has for a loved one from long ago.
While all of this is happening, they must all seek the hidden evil that hunts them—for there’s an ancient fighting to wake up and destroy everything Rowan holds dear.

Genre: Young-adult fiction Published: April 26 2013 Publisher: Christina Channelle Print Length: 305 pages Rowan is Book 2 in the Blood Crave Series. Other Books in the Blood Crave Series: Dahlia (#1) Fallen Tears (#1.5) Available at: Amazon
Struggling to hold on to her humanity since her change, Rowan has exiled herself to sleep, but after years on her own, something awakens her…and forces her to make a choice that “sucks” her back into the world she now wishes she never knew. Her past, now coming back at her like a freight train looms large, ALL of it…her life, her death and the creature she has become. Fallen angels (lapsus) and vampires (lamia) exist, pitted against each other for eons all because of one creature. Rowan’s awakening also awakens her heart as she must seek out the one being she can never forget. Now more mature, more edgy and definitely more “in control,” Remy still wants Rowan, but he is one of the “enemy,” a fallen angel. Rowan is conflicted, the attraction is there, but there is another from her past, a savior of sorts, who left her alone when she needed him most and she must decide whether her feelings for him are those of a lovestruck young girl worshipping a father-like figure or are they more? Would it even be possible for Rowan and Remy to be together? He knows her too well, would do anything for her, is he what she really needs? Or have the years clouded Rowan’s mind and heart? Will it even matter if the ancient evil entity on the hunt for them all discovers where they are? Rowan by Christina Channelle is dark, edgy and full of powerful creatures with powerful emotions and conflict. Past characters return to add to the turmoil, but Ms. Channelle has cleverly brought only one key player to the forefront so he may once again save Rowan from herself. I received this review copy as part of a Blog Tour Event from the author in exchange for my honest review! This Tour comes to Tome Tender June 16th!
Favorite Lines “And you not wanting to be in a relationship with Remy is bullshit and you know it. You’re scared and it’s alright to be scared. You’ll never know what could be if you never try. Who knows?”
“That might have been true. But time changes the heart and there’s no way you’re not in her heart. I think she’s just afraid to admit it.”
“I thought it would pass but it hasn’t. Powerful forces want you to suffer and it’s because of me. I brought all this on you; for that, I’m sorry. I’ll do everything in my power to right this wrong. Then you can live happily. That’s all I ever wanted for you—for you to be happy.”
“I’ll protect you from the dark.”
Rowan is back!! Man this book had so much going on! So many characters coming together! Rowan has been sleeping for so long but she's back now and she goes straight to Remy! On the way though she finds a body and that body is Sam! Oh yes that Sam! There is so much it want to say but I don't want to ruin it for you! This series is so surprising! When I started this I thought the story would go one way but then it went a totally different way. I loved every word! I can't wait to find out what happens next! If you love paranormal then believe me you will devour this book!
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review (GHB)
Rowan is the second book in the Blood Crave Series. However it CAN be read as a stand alone. There is plenty of information given in bits from what happened in book 1 so you won't be lost. However if you're like me you will want to read book 1 (Dahlia) first.
Rowan is about a mystery of sorts. WHO is the person who killed Faith? WHY is he/she doing what he/she is doing? *evil grin* yes I know I used he/she because I do not want to give away ANYTHING!
The characters are well written. In this case the plot is secondary to the characters and these characters are very well written. The relationship between Rowan and Remy is interesting, as is the relationship she has to secondary characters.
The story itself wasn't a thrill a minute, page turner. However you did keep reading to discover what would happen next. Action wasn't over the top which is nice since it wasn't meant to be this grab you by the seat of your pants and not let go type of book. If you are looking for action fights and the like such as vampire books most of the time have, then this isn't the one for you. But if you are looking for a good character book, with lots of little twists and turns and nuances then this book is for you. There is some violence in the book, but it seems to be secondary to the characters and their feelings.
All in all this was an entertaining read and I give it 4 stars.
Details/disclaimer: I was given a copy of this book for my personal review. This free book held no determination on my final review.
This book sees the unison of so many strong characters from this book and the previous two books. Rowan is a very character orientated book, so there is so great character progression and development. It's good to see how the characters from all the books so far begin to link together in the overall story.
I felt that the actual plot of Fallen Angels/Lamia conflict had been a little slow and under developed in this book. There are still some very good twists and turns throughout; just a lot more character based.
There is a tension/chemistry between Rowan and Remy, they eventually admit their feelings and there is some progression in their relationship; albeit briefly. Maybe this will continue in a future book.
Towards the end of Rowan there is another name mentioned; Craven. From the little tidbit of information that is mentioned surrounding Craven it seems as though this could be a key role in the conflict between Fallen Angels and Lamia. This brief mention of Craven has left me curious about what may happen in the next book.
Overall I have enjoyed reading the Blood Crave Series and I will definitely be reading the next instalment. If you love vampires then I would recommend reading the Blood Crave Series by Christina Channelle.
http://divainpyjamas.blogspot.com.au/... I love Rowan's character. She's a tough vampire, who battles each day with retaining her humanity. She's strong, sassy and her only weakness is the two men in her life, her creator Kaji and the magical Remy. She struggles with allowing herself to be happy, knowing that Remy harbors feelings that she feels she can't reciprocate, believing that he deserves a chance at a normal life, a life that Rowan could never provide. The reader will find themselves immersed in their banter and sexual tension.
Beautifully written with poetic passages, reminiscent of Tahereh Mafi's Shatter Me series. Absolutely loved it and can only hope that Christina creates a Rowan spin off series, the feisty vampire deserves her own spotlight.
I was lucky enough to receive a copy of Rowan by Christina Channelle for review as part of a book tour, this has in no way reflected my opinion. Please note: I will try and keep this review as spoiler free as possible for those of you who haven’t read the series, but I can’t promise there will be zero spoilers. I say lucky enough because after I finished the other novel and novella in this series I predicted that the second book would be even better and most likely my favourite of the three and I was in fact correct – though of course I may be a little bias as this book is from the point of view of Rowan who is a vampire and vampires are indeed my favourite mythical beings, but shhh. Any how back to the review, as I mentioned this is all from Rowan’s point of view and after four years of sleeping away the pain and need to feed – which hey does not seem like too bad of an idea at times to me, I mean we all have those days we’d rather just sleep through, but of course it also means that she’s ignoring other things and people that probably shouldn’t be ignored – she resurfaces into the city of Fallen and starts off by what any vamp would do, finding some food. Once full and refreshed with life/food she takes a proper look around where she is, and to those of you who aren’t as big of a fan as vampire’s as I am, I guess this is the part it gets interesting, because not far from her is a body. A body which isn’t alive but also not quiet dead, a body who we’ve previously met – Sam! Which if you forgotten like uh well I did (d’oh) is Dahlia’s brother from the first book, I blame reading at 1am for not making the connection. So Rowan does what any vampire with their humanity in tact does with a body that is neither dead or alive, yeah you guessed it, she turns Sam into a vampire. So that is two of the main characters mentioned, the third is Remy and if you’ve read Fallen Tears you’ll know that he is one of the fallen angels, but one of the good ones, part of a family that have helped the last remaining vampires survive and stay hidden, and he’s also a total babe with the hots for Rowan. Of course. Everyone needs some form of romance in their lives. This unlikely trio have to work together to find answers to questions, some of which they’re not even aware of. Why was Sam in such an odd state? Who has the power to do that to a person? Why does he have no memory of what happened to him and what was so important or scary that someone had to remove these memories from him? Why is a bear attacking them in the sewers? and what has happened to Sam’s family? Finding answers to only a few of these questions opens up a larger can of worms that none of them could ever be prepared for. We eventually meet up with Dahlia and Greyson and their stories start to tie together and we get some long needed development of Rowan and Remy’s relationship as well as some unfortunate and deathly events. Like I said I don’t want to give too much away but I did really enjoy this book, there wasn’t a dull moment in it for me and seeing how the two books come together was very nice and left open an interesting chain of events to follow for the sequel. I felt like a few scenes were a little rushed towards the ending but this didn’t effect my opinion too drastically. Overall a lovely read and hasn’t suffered the terrible two’s that can often follow with series.
