Crystal Kelley always wanted children, and when she finally became a mother, she hoped to give the gift of life to others who weren't afforded the same fortune. She believed that the road to this wish was through surrogacy, but her well-intended plan quickly turned from a blessed partnership to one damaged by fear. No one could have foreseen the problems that would arise during the first few weeks of gestation. Heart defects, facial abnormalities, and a multitude of other complications soon forced the intended parents into a decision they never thought they'd have to make. They, too, had children and couldn't bear the thought of bringing a child into the world that would need the level of care this baby would require. With two children of her own, Crystal was unintentionally faced with one of life's greatest questions - to save the life of the unborn child she carried for another couple, or surrender to their wishes to terminate the baby they so deeply wanted.Crystal had to make a decision, and the path she took to save the life of the baby is one wrought with personal turmoil, uncertainty, and the threat of financial ruin. "Saving The Baby S Story" is an intimate account of the true events leading up to Crystal's decision to become a surrogate and the challenges she was faced with as she embarked on the brave path of life for the child she carried.

Crystal is a true hero. First, she makes a decision to use her body to carry someone else's child. Crystal decides she wants to do surrogacy for someone who doesn't have any children who may not be able to have one for whatever reason. Because she has a big heart she chooses a couple that do have children but have eggs that are frozen and need to be inseminated soon and the wife is no longer able to carry. When it is confirmed that Crystal is pregnant it is also confirmed that something is wrong with the baby, and things go awry.
Crystal Kelley is a true hero for little Stormie who if it wasn't for her, wouldn't be here today. We need more people like Crystal fighting for these innocent children, just because they might be sick, disabled, or have some setbacks does not give anybody the right to end their life before they've even been giving a fighting chance in this world!
I really did like this book and I admire Crystal for the way she fought for you.
I think Crystal was an amazing woman who fought for this child who proved that doctors can be proven wrong. We should not put all our trust in them and should trust our own heart.
This is a fairly straightforward book about a complex and divisive subject; surrogacy and ultimately pro-life vs pro-choice. It's a book which flags up a number of subjects meriting discussion.
What is most amazing about this book is that is true! What a brave woman Crystal is and I really applauded her courage in the decisions she made for the wellbeing of Stormie!
I have been privileged to watch Baby S grow up, until her passing this summer. Thank you for writing about your side as I watched the story from “Rachel’s” side. She sure was a spitfire!
