In RISE OF THE VALIANT, Kyra is sent on an urgent quest: to cross Escalon and seek out her uncle in the mysterious Tower of Ur. The time has come for her to learn about who she is, who her mother is, and to train and develop her special powers. Her father, Duncan, must lead his men south, to the great water city of Esephus, to attempt to free his fellow countrymen from the iron grip of Pandesia. Alec escapes with Marco from The Flames to find himself on the run through the Wood of Thorns, chased by exotic beasts. Merk, despite his better judgment, turns back to help the girl, and finds himself, for the first time in his life, entangled in a stranger’s affairs. Vesuvius spurs his giant as he leads the Trolls on their mission underground, attempting to bypass The Flames, while the dragon, Theos, has his own special mission on Escalon.
In THE WEIGHT OF HONOR, Kyra finally meets her cryptic uncle, and is shocked to discover he is not the man she expected. She embarks on a period of training which will test her stamina and her frustration, as she soon encounters the limits of her power. Duncan must descend the peaks of Kos with his new army and, vastly outnumbered, launch a risky invasion on the capital. If he wins, waiting behind its ancient walls, he knows, will be the old king and his nest of nobles and aristocrats, all with their own agendas, all of them as quick to betray as they are to embrace. Alec, in Ur, must tap his unique skills in the forge to aid the resistance if they have any chance of defending against the looming Pandesian invasion. Merk finally enters the tower of Ur, and is stunned by what he discovers. Vesuvius leads his Troll nation across a vulnerable Escalon, devastating the land, while Theos, enraged at what becomes of his son, is on a rampage himself, and will not stop until all of Escalon is aflame.

I am thoroughly hooked, and the climatic ending makes me just want to know, to Have to know what happens next! I haven’t been this involved in a story for a very long time.
I have only read the first 3 books to date. The story is a typical Morgan Rice plot to date. Several story lines going at once that will (I assume here) eventually converge. The main heroes, for one reason or another, do something totally out of character and stupid, ignoring the advice of friends and colleagues and end up getting killed. The series so far seems to be following a similar timeline as the Star Wars original trilogy where Luke leaves Yoda and his training to try and save his friends and ends up costing him. Still he did learn a valuable lesson. I do look forward to finishing the series, but I gave it 4 stars because in my opinion, it is not as good as The Sorcerer's Ring series.
I love Morgan Rice. I love the world's she creates. Some great quotes and she really delves into why her characters act as they do. It adds an extra layer of complexity which I love. But please please please surround yourself with a good group of testers. I encountered spelling mistakes in these last 2 books, but the worst was the accidental switching of names. It happened at least 5 times. Alec & Marco's names were mislabelled several times. Once Vesuvius name was put instead of Theo's. It really interrupts a book! 5 stars if you fix the editing. I love your books so much I would happily test t them!
The author weaves a great story, including characters who allow the reader a great like or dislike in them. It has continued to keep my interest to finish the series. My only issue would be the number of grammatical errors and typos. A good publisher should have corrected those before it ever reached publication. Ms . Rice does offer free books of you join her email list. I will finish out the series and decide which book to read next. Overall, it is a great story for young adult readers who enjoy a good fantasy read.
Happily I got the bundle, not sure I would have gone three had I not already owned. The problem was/is the thrust of these volumes seems to be killing off a good share of what seemed like the core protagonists. On the other hand I will continue to figure out why. Let you ķ know what I think of the next two. And yes I was never fond of tragedies. We will see.
I'm speechless, the highest tribute I've EVER given! Morgan's writing skill is endless. The way in which this story unfolds from different characters & events occurring simultaneously in different parts of Escalon, and yet all linked to each other is truly spellbinding! No time for more, HAVE to move on to rest of the books! This series is a MUST READ!
Not as good as the first in this series. Many misspelled and missing words. Need a good reviewer. I also wish she stayed with the story of one character longer, story jumps around A LOT. It is easy reading when you want a book without using a lot of brain power.
This "writer's" style consists primarily of three phrase sentences. Monotonously on and on. I encourage you to reevaluate your career choices. You suck as a writer!
