What a rush! Donovan puts pen to paper creating an unforgettable tale that had me on the edge of my seat throughout. Vivid and larger than life descriptions heighten the intensity of an already creatively inspired novel. The well thought out plot kept me guessing while taking me on a wild ride that wasn’t simply action intensive, but also emotionally revealing.
I liked the well-developed differentiation between talents, first borns, and latent magic users. The myths and legends that are coming into play are also quite intriguing. That said, this series really should be read in order for context. The thorough world and
And let’s not forget the best part of this novel: characters that you can fall in love with. The little imperfections that Donovan works into her hero and heroine make them even more endearing. Their relationship was both complex and so very easy. Readers can see how they fit together, but also feel for the difficulties that they face. Surrounded by a supporting cast that will both make you laugh and groan in frustration, Donovan has created a group of individuals that I desperately want to become a part of.
Donovan’s return to magic and mayhem, action and suspense had me in its hooks throughout. This quick, exciting read was a fantastic addition to a series that I can’t get off of my mind.

I loved this story of the Asylums for Magical Threats. Nutty Neena does her magic again and DEFEND is on the move!
Petra Brandt has fled her past and created a completely different world for herself as a Mercenary in order to save her twin from the clutches of a very bad man. In order to do this she had to leave her life behind and the love of her life. Now after 2 years she goes on a mission to save the man she had to lie to and forget.
Will Evans is a scientist who has made it his life's mission for 2 years to research and eradicate latent abilities, not only because he wants to avoid another having to lose a loved one like he lost the woman he loved, but to rid himself of his latent ability which has appeared now. Now he looks up and finds that the woman he thought dead for 2 years is very much alive! Will he be able to forgive her lie and will he embrace his latent ability and join the ranks of DEFEND that he has hated for so long?
DEFEND has to find the Collector and get their hands on the Talent she has. Who is The Collector?

In order to save her brother, Petra Brandt faked her death and broke her fiancé’s heart, but now it’s his life in danger so resorting to a little blackmail, Petra devises a plan to free her former love and save his life in this spellbinding paranormal romance.
After his fiancé’s death, Dr. William Evans dedicated his life to ridding the world of magic and the readers can’t help but get caught up in all the thrills and magic as Petra and Will are reconnected while exposing a horrible secret. Petra and Will have some stunning chemistry which certainly heats things up but of course their past stirs up some emotional turmoil while chuckles and snark lighten things up during the adrenaline pumping excitement as Petra and Will work with some “frienmies” against the magical prison. The characters are strong, compelling and keeps reader’s attention glued to the pages of this well written, fast paced and smooth flowing plot full of suspense, excitement and romance.
This series just continues to get better and better with so many fascinating twists and elements that there is never any way to put the stories down once you start reading them and I find it very easy to get caught up in all the intrigue and with all the directions that the plot could go in, I can never predict what might happen next.

Book 4 of the Asylums for Magical Threats and it was awesome! We had met Petra and Will in earlier books so it was really great to have their story told. In order to protect Will from her brother's mistakes, Petra faked her own death and entered a life she wouldn't have chosen for herself. Meanwhile, Will in his grief for losing the love of his life to magic, made it his life mission to get rid of it. When Petra learns that Will's life is in danger she knows she needs to save him. Their reunion only proves that anger can only hold onto you so long when it comes to those you love. They are given a second chance and get to meet some favorite characters like Jaxton and Kiarra. There is also finally the discover of the Earth Talent. And with new information things, we learn more about those with latent abilities and the Talents.
Though is the last book that was published for this series, at the end in the note to the reader, there is a promise of more stories to come! The journey and story line is definitely not over. And though nothing new has been published since this release, I really hope Jessie Donovan continues this series because it is definitely a favorite of mine by her!

Petra Brandt had changed her name and her whole life to get her twin brother out of trouble with a drug lord. After faking her own death, she leaves her fiancee thinking she was killed by a rogue first-born elemental fire user and becomes a mercenary. But two years later, she hears about a threat to her fiancee's life and comes back to save him.
Doctor William Evans has spent the last two years grieving for his dead fiancee and has dedicated his life's work to finding out how to erase magic from people that have latent talents. At least that way, there will be less chance of people being killed by misusing their 'gifts' the way his late girlfriend was taken from him.
But when Petra turns up to save him, he surprises her. Firstly, he knows where a Giovanni Sinclair lives. He was one of the people who held captive and tortured her friend and colleague Millie Ward among lots of others and also controls Will's freedom in exchange for working for him in the labs as he is a scientist. So the decision is made to go get him and bring him in to interrogate for information. The second surprise is even more important; Will knows of the whereabouts of an elemental earth user that is being guarded and undergoing tests. From what he describes, Petra and Millie identify her as the earth talent. They need to get her out of there immediately! A rescue mission is put together made up of a lot of old faces that have already made appearances in previous books.
But will it all go to plan? Or will Petra and Will's past relationship get in the way and stop them from trusting each other when it really counts?
This latest book of Jessie's Asylums of Magical Threats series kept me engaged to the end and there is absolutely nothing that I can fault about it! (except maybe the wait in between each book...hehe!) But I like all the books that Jessie has written, so I heartily recommend that you give this one a try yourself too. You won't regret it.

How much would you risk for the one you love? Petra gave up her life to protect her brother and fiance. When her former fiance WIll is placed in danger again, she risks everything to save him. Will has changed a lot in the two years since he lost his fiance. Seeing her again brings back all kinds of feelings but he is not sure he could ever trust her again.They will have to work together with others to try to save those with magical talents from being taken and harmed that want to control them all.
I have really enjoyed the series and the characters. All of the characters are strong individuals that have sacrificed a great deal to help others. As they work together, they have been discovering that having someone to love makes them even stronger. Petra and Will have dramatically changed their lives in the two years they have been apart. Instead of being a scientist, Petra is a mercenary. Will has built up his body so he is no longer a victim to others. His new magical abilities scare him.
It is a really interesting storyline and I look forward to each new addition to the series.

Hot, hot, hot oh I couldn't put it down amazing work. I am wowed right now.
Ok to the review Two years ago Leyna had everything she could had wanted to be happy! Then her brother got into trouble and she had to make a painful decision. To save her brother and keep the man she loved (William) alive. Leyna had to Die a leave Will thinking she was dead . To protect her brother Petra the mercenary would have to be born!
Now that she found out the man she loves is locked up by the Feiru for developing powers she going to get him out.
This is a powerful story full of action and passion as people fight to free themselves against a power that wants to end them all.
It's wild. Truly not to be missed.
I would like it to be made into a TV series ! Wow until then lol it will play in my head!

I love all of Jessie Donovan’s work and this story is no different. She has a very unique storyline with this series and I couldn’t enjoy it more. I love the way the story has a unique take on magical powers and how the characters deal with those powers. I hope there will be more stories in this series as I want to find out how the series will end and if some of the characters will meet their matches.

Loved this book! Glad to see some of the older characters making an appearance and I'm curious what part Gio will play in future books as I think there's something between him and Milly! I loved seeing the real Petra and learning more about her and her twin. I also loved Will and hope it learns to embrace and be comfortable with his gift! Can't wait for the next book!

Petra and Will have a past with space in between their Destined Future. Its that space that takes them along an Adventurous love ride and opens their eyes along the way with the help of some old and New friends!!! I Loved this one! The AMT books get better and better with each new story

Jessie Donovan's AMT series are gems that I will pull out and look at again and again. I really enjoy the elemental magic and the progression of the stories. I am anxious for the next in the series as soon as it comes out I am sure I will move it straight to the top of my TBR. The series is mesmerizing and like in Star Wars, there is an organization/government to rebel against. I encourage all of my friends who love to side with the good guys/underdogs to read this series as well as her Stone Fire and Lochguard Dragon series.
