Seventeen-year-old Nate Burnham never thought killing would be easy, but when his girlfriend, Mira Everson, is attacked by an incubus disguised as a classmate, Nate discovers love is worth killing for. With the possibility of a grim future, Nate finds himself in the back of an unmarked van with a decision to make—spend life behind bars or enroll in the Special Abilities Task Force run by the Human Preservation Agency. In order to protect Mira, Nate joins the secret organization and is plunged into a world of monsters, murder, and secrecy.
Mira Everson’s life is turned upside down when she discovers Nate has been abducted by scientists who have the ability to rewrite lives. She flees her home to escape a deadly agent sent to kill her, and she must come to terms with the idea that any future contact with Nate could result in her death.
Thrust into a war between humans and creatures, Nate and Mira are fated to fight on opposing sides. Can they unravel the secrets of the supernatural world or will they face deadly consequences?

Loved it! Perfect for Divergent or THG fans The story will boggle your mind! At first you'll go - 'supernatural!' Then you'll be - 'no... Sci-fi!' and after frantically reading ahead you'll understand - It's BOTH
This is one of the rare books that had me hooked from page 2. Being a fantasy- fiction lover I was not disappointed....much.
The plot twists, the right amount of action and lots of suspense will make you sit up straight and just keep reading!
POSSIBLE SPOILER AHEAD What stops me from giving it 5 stars is the relationship swap ( or whatever you want to call it ) in the end. It was unexpected and not really appreciated by me. I understood the attraction between Evie and Nate & Mira and Liam as just that- attraction. All through the beginning Mira and Nate help each other sub-consciously and now they suddenly don't love each other anymore?! NO! Although my strong feelings are possible because I totally ship Nate/Mira...but you get it.
Overall, I'd love to read it again. It was different and gripping.
