The Gun Runner

Rate this book
The first book in a seductive new series from Scott Hildreth, the #1 Amazon bestselling author of BRAWLER and HARD CORPS.

Tripp

Once, I took down terrorists on the front lines as a marine.
Now I'm in the business of bad.
I've sold guns to people others might not approve of.
I've eliminated the criminals, the lowlifes and the thugs who've tread on my turf.
And I looked the Sicilian Mafia boss in the eye and told him to f*** off.
No one tells me no, unless it's their last word.
I didn't just act the part of bad—I lived it. Then she stumbled into my life.
I tried to stay away from her. Tried focusing on moving my merchandise. But one smile from Terra was like a shot to the heart.
She's mine now. And no one threatens what's mine.

Terra

I've seen a lot of terrible things in my life.
I grew up around lies and deception, and I ran away from all of them.
Until I met him.
I knew he was corrupt. I knew he was dangerous.
I should have stayed away, but my attraction to him, my need for him, overrode my logic.
Now I love him.
If he finds out who I am, we're done and I'll be nothing.
I never wanted to be the Mafia princess they tried to make me, but mia familia had other plans. And what mia familia wants…it gets.
Only Michael Tripp can save me.

Tripp and Terra's story continues in Book Two of Mafia Made, The Game Changer.

★★★★1/2! The Gun Runner, book 1 of X. Mob heiress gets her knickers wrapped up in Ex-marine and gun runner with a gifted tongue!

“He sucked my clit like a true trained professional. I wanted him to never stop, but I knew if he continued, I’d surely die.”

Books in Mafia Made series are stand-alones, but most enjoyed if read in order:
Book 1: The Gun Runner
Book 2: Untitled

The Gun Runner (stand-alone, book 1) opens up to mob heiress, Terra Agrioli being rescued from a vengeful and violent ex by a chivalrous and handsome stranger.

Ex-marine and gun runner Michael Tripp, Tripp acted on instinct and years of combat training when he saw a lady in distress. He’s moved into town to run his growing gun trafficking empire skating on the edge of the law, but trying to steer clear of the town’s mob boss.

When their paths cross again they fall into an easy flirty friendship with promises of more. Their sexual attraction is intensified by Michael’s thirty-day rule of no intercourse.

To help hold them over Michael is happy to lend a hand, a finger and his tongue… eventually culminating in explosive hot sex neither can walk away from. But their connection will quickly be complicated by Terra’s connection to the mob.

Ten words to describe Michael Tripp, Tripp: Commanding, noble, fair, honest, sexy, easy-going, in-control, strong, perceptive, and dirty-talker.

Seven words to describe Terra Agrioli: Smart, deceptive, spoiled, nurturing, meek, observant, romantic and compliant.

The Gun Runner, told from dual POV, is a fast paced, scorching hot mixture of smut, romance and suspense complicated by lies and deceit. It ends on a high, but I would welcome an epilogue further into their future. I suspect that next-coming books will give us glimpses.

Dirty-talking chivalrous hero! Suspenseful plot! Fast-paced and easy-flowing story-telling!

“I’m going to tongue fuck you until you can’t walk,” he breathed into my ear.”

"Riding you and riding a roller coaster are similar, I guess. Both are exhilarating, take my breath away, and cause my heart to race."
description

The Gun Runner is the first book in Scott Hildreth's new Mafia Made Series. Like a blockbuster movie, once I started reading, I could not put it down! If you love a strong hero, a sassy heroine, heart-stopping action, and a sexy fun filled read get your KINDLE ready now!

description

Terra Agriloi is a Maffia Princess. Living a luxurious life as a trust fund baby, you would think she would be on top of the world. However, Terra lacks substance and meaning in her life. That meaning is discovered one morning in the "undeniable swagger and steel-blue eyes" of Michael Tripp. But what kind of man would accept the love of the daughter of a Mafia Boss?
"I was a horny mess. He had me so turned on that I couldn't do anything but beg for more."
Michael Tripp is many things. He is a Marine, a loyal friend, dedicated, hard working, and super sexy! When he witnesses a brassy and beautiful young woman taking a beat down from a man in a parking lot, he steps in and does what he does best. He protects and eliminates the threat! Once the danger has subsided, both Michael and Terra discover a special spark between them.
"I'm going to tongue fuck you until you can't walk."

description
"My father would kill me if he found out what I was doing, but Michael was so much more than a novelty to me."
Michael and Terra begin to spend time together. Both still hesitant to expose certain elements of themselves, a special bond is forged between the two. After a few dinners, dates, and adventurous shopping trips (Saks Fifth Avenue will never be the same for me again), eventually, the emotional connection leads to a physical one. The passion between Terra and Michael is addictive and full of raw and sultry steam! As Terra and Michael grow closer, she still doesn't know that Michael is a gun runner. He still doesn't know that she is the daughter of "THE" Mafia Boss. When the truth is revealed, can their love possibly survive?
"When I'm with you, nothing else matters. When nothing else matters, the world around me dissolves, leaving only you. And. Nothing. Else. Matters."
description
"Kissing and gently sucking, he teased my nipples, sending small tingling shocks jolting through me from my nipples to my clit."
Told in dual POV, The Gun Runner is a perfect blend of action, suspense, intrigue, passion, and fun! The relationship between Michael and Terra was authentic and addictive. Michael's business partner Cap and Terra's quirky best friend Michelle offer a perfect counter balance to the dynamics between the main characters. The plot was well developed, and I didn't want it to end! The action scenes were intense and heart-stopping! In true Hildreth style, the passion between the main characters is sexy, fun, and unforgettable. The underlying themes of loyalty, friendship, and protecting the ones we love are always a driving force in Scott Hildreth's work and will always keep me coming back for more!
"I wanted to hold him, hug him, kiss him and never let him go. At that moment, nothing mattered. Not my father, my heritage or my religious beliefs. Love has no boundaries, and at that instant, for the first time, I felt that whatever connection anyone on earth might have, we certainly had."
description

The Gun Runner is another must read from Scott Hildreth. Anyone who enjoys action, suspense, passion, and intrigue must meet Michael and Terra now! Although there are many questions left to be answered, I was quite content with the way things ended. I cannot wait to find out what happens next!!!! My KINDLE will be ready and waiting for more!

I vacillated with the rating for this one for a bit before deciding what I consider a generous three for me. Let it be known up front that this is my opinion and that plenty of my friends quite enjoyed it. I listened to this in audiobook. Not sure if it matters, but the narrators were pretty good, yet that didn't save the dialogue from killing the story for me. The words "like", "um", and "huh" were overused to the point it stopped being funny. -.- The exchanges between the best friends Terra and Michelle felt very inorganic. They sounded like two teenagers talking. Then there was the retelling of past events. Instead of sparing the reader who already experienced the scene by just stating that the person retells and adding what is different or the character's perception, the author actually makes his characters retell the whole thing. And when your MC is saying this: "Umm.. and then he like walked over there and...", it gets old fast. It happens a few times in the story. There were a few grammatical call outs but nothing that would overwhelm the story. The plot was actually really interesting and the associated action very well executed. It was actually one of my favorite things which is funny considering the action was probably supposed to be secondary to the romance. When they're getting down and dirty it's pretty hot but outside of that I found myself annoyed by Terra. She is a selectively naive trust fund Mafia princess who lies to Michael yet is appalled by his omissions. If she were trying to do something good with her time/life, I would've liked her more. However, I found myself really liking Cap, Michael's best friend. This story does end in a cliffy /boooo safety: No OW/OM/Sharing. No rape. Yes to abuse

I've finally found the perfect man.

Firstly I have to say I'm in love, I think Michael is just about perfect.
This was a book of surprises for me.
Firstly I was surprised to discover this is the first book I've read by this author and with the amount of books I read I'm wondering why.
Secondly I was surprised by Michael but more on that later.
Then I was totally surprised by this book it wasn't at all what I expected, I thought it would be dark and gritty with the requisite hot alpha male who goes through women like they're disposable, until he finds 'the one' well that's what I expected what I got was a sweet beautiful romance with the man of my dreams.
Michael was made an orphan at six years old, after foster care he joins the marines where he spends ten years serving his country now he's in business, the business of selling guns.
Michael is hot, fit, intelligent, trustworthy, loyal, he has a thirty day rule regarding sex so he doesn't become a man whore (seriously, where's this man been all my life) I could go on but I'll just say he ticks every box and he wants and deserves to be loved.
Terra is a Mafia princess, she has a trust fund and apart from the fact she's expected to marry an Italian man she has no pressure on her.
When these two first meet he obviously doesn't tell her what he does and she doesn't tell him who she is, and that's ok at first but what happens when the relationship grows and the lies are getting deeper.
Michael's best friend and colleague Cap is funny, he's obsessed with Netflix and can happily give romantic advice due to all the rom coms he's watches, he's six foot three of solid muscle and served in the Marines with Michael.
Michelle is Terra's best friend and she's hilarious.
While this book wasn't anything like I expected I really enjoyed it and apart from a couple of little things my only problem came with Terra.
It's a cliffhanger which I knew before starting so I can't complain about that now I'm just left waiting for the next book.

When I saw this one was up for graps on NetGalley I was super excited by the blurb and was really looking forward to reading this book. I mean who doesn't like firstly the cover and secondly strong men with guns and an action packed plot, right? So after reading the first few chapters I can say that I really enjoyed the story but then came the freaking questions. I drove me nuts, I mean, I get it, if it's only a few times and on various scenes but to have a person you are talking to reply to you every single time with What happened? No, did that really happen? He did what? He was what? What, what, what? I FREAKING GET IT, OK!!! You tell me once and I'm totally going to understand you. I'm not brain dead or something. And that continued to happen through the whole story. So that was definitely a bummer for me and I admit, there were times where I wanted to give up and just stop reading.

description

In the end I guess I can also blame my high expectations for the story, since I was really happy to be reading this book. But oh well, it's still a three star read, since not all was that bad.

I liked Cap and Michelle, they were my favourite characters. Yes, I know I'm horrible for not liking the main characters more but what can I say. I loved how Cap has this no bullshit personality and how Michelle just knows what she want and is one super cool chick that doesn't easily freak out. If there is going to be a book about those two, I'm definitely reading it!

description

Now Terra and Michael were a mess but a beautiful one. Their relationship is now a 'normal' one, since their past and true identity still remains a lie, at least on Terra's side and one that all comes to light, there is going to be a big bum! But for the most part, I find their journey to finding each other real sweet. There are ups and downs but in the end they manage to overcome that and also the epilogue and their new pet, just soooo cute. That added to their story for sure.

All in all, I would say that I liked this story but it could also be better, specially the writing style (question and all that). Also I'm not sure I'm going to be reaging the sequel but who knows, maybe I will, maybe won't. So, if you feel like you like the blurb, then go for it. Read the story and who knows, it might just as well pleasantly surprise you. :)

4.5 Secrets, Mafia, Sex Oh, My! Stars
* * * *1/2
When you read Scott Hildreth, you know you are going to have something worthwhile in your hands. He will fill your mind with stories of complete ideas... but the added bonus is his way in showing you how strong the man loves his woman with his writing. I have read only one other book, Money Shot (Selected Sinners MC, #6) (https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...). The Hero was so impressive, I immediately understood why Hildreth's fan base was so loyal and huge. It is well deserved.

This new venture, The Gun Runner (Mafia Made, #1) has an introduction to our main characters which is as dynamic as any blockbuster movie. We have a woman who is being forcibly taken by her ex leaving a trail of her Louisianan's in the parking lot while yuppie coffee drinkers watch, stunned and do nothing. When this escalates further, we can feel all of the fight this woman has to get away from this pig...From the corner of her eye she sees....

HIM ...A sound causing both her and the grunt to turn and watch as this vision of Man swaggers closer. Impeccably dressed, piercing steel blue eyes taking all of the surrounding in....A man not to be ignored....

He causally tells the ex to let go of the woman and receives the standard type of comment from a man who is in the process of beating a woman...Mind your own business...

Later the grunt would wish he had....Because not only does this man make moves swift and clear allowing the woman to move away... it allows our woman to show she is No Victim as she kicks repeatedly in the ex's package once is is down and not a threat to her.

With a introduction like this...nothing could have been better for these two strangers.

The blurb for this book says it all. It sets up everything perfectly.
What I will add is the humanity and vulnerability of our man is something to experience. He is true to himself, true in his business, team members and life vision and loyal to his one friend, Cap. He has his code of ethics grounded from his life in the Marines and as tough as he is...he has been touched and shown a new way of feeling things through this relationship with this woman. His willingness to share verbally how he feels with her is staggering.

Our gal is strong, smart and confused as to how to handle this situation. She knows if she is truthful about where she comes from and who her family is from the start... then more than likely, she will have zero chance with this guy.... And that is not at all what she wants.... Because she knows this is something different... he is an equal in strength yet no Mafia... he is everything and she needs to hold on and let this happen somehow.

This was a captivating read. It had everything needed to make us want more. All of the friends, secondary characters have been set up to tease enough for us to know there is more to them and we like them.

I only had a couple of things gnawing at me during parts of the read...it was all the secrets and hiding from her end.

Over all, this is a huge winner and I am Locked and Loaded wanting the next part of this Gun Runner's Journey.

Michael has been in the military for ten years. Now he's finally done with that life. But his new life of being a semi-legal gun seller in Kansas City is not at all without its dangers either.

And once he meets and falls for Terra, things will get even worse.....
Because what he doesn't know is that Terra is the daughter of the local mafia godfather.
The same guy who wants to become 'partners' with Michael. Violently if needed.
But Michael doesn't want anything to do with the mafia. And the mafia boss does not want his daugter in love with a non-italian, non-catholic guy.

Lots of secrets, lots of danger, LOTS of sexy time.....
Terra and Michael still have a LONG way to go to get to their Happily Ever After...

What will happen with Terra & Michael?
Will there be a HEA?
Will everybody survive this booK??
Or will there be a horrible Cliffy?

I'm not telling you that of course ☺

Great first story in this Mafia series!!!

I really didn't know what to expect when I started reading. This was my first Scott Hildreth book. I think other than Nicholas Sparks I never read a sexy romance written by a guy. And this is so not a Nicholas Sparks story. ☺

I really enjoyed reading it.

I had a few tiny problems with Scott's writing style. But that could just be because I'm used to female authors. (Even though I LOVE Harlan Coben!) There were some phrases that Scott overused in the beginning. I didn't like that. But it won't bother most readers.

I really enjoyed the story. But again... some problems there for me.

Michael meets this hot italian girl - in Italy's second hugest city KANSAS CITY ☺. And he doesn't for one second think that she might be related to the mafia?? Especially considering the looks of the guy he first saw her with...

Well, that was a bit weird for me.

BUT... I really liked the rest of the story.

We have LOTS of sexy moments.

description

...and suspensy moments and frustrating moments - especially those in which we sooo want them to tell each other the truth about who they are. We just know that it will all come back to destroy their relationship one day :/

I really enjoyed reading it. I was a great romantic suspense story. You can't stop reading - you just have to know how the two of them will overcome all those problems...

Only...we won't know how their story will end by the end of the book - because it's a TRILOGY ...grrrrr ☺ But it's not really a bad cliffy. Nobody is hanging from any cliffs. But still - I want book #2 asap!!!!!

description

THE GUN RUNNER was a very sexy & exciting mafia story!
An ex-military orphan, a mafia princess and lots of guns & sex = great romance!☺☺☺

...and even if the story wouldn't be interesting at all - you still don't want to miss reading it - you'll fall in love with Michael too ☺ ☺ ☺

'The Gun Runner' first got on my radar when the cover popped up on my FB feed weeks ago. Then I saw someone mention that it was up on NetGalley so I figured 'Why not?' ... I din't even read the blurb. I just really REALLY liked the cover and the fact that it said 'mafia' made me want to read it even more because, lets' face it, who doesn't like a good mob story?

I devoured this book. I mean, DEVOURED it! The story was engaging enough to keep my interest. H/h were a great combination! He is a straight forward alpha with a soft, vulnerable side. She is a ballsy and outspoken female with a 'this is what I want and I am going to get it' attitude. Both have their issues that help them realize that they need each other for reasons you'll get when you read the book. For me, this story had all the makings of being a perfect summer (or any time!) read. It was fast paced, well written, super sexy with dash of suspense and a whole lotta secrets, which should make for an interesting sequel! If you love characters who don't beat around the bush, you'll enjoy Michael and Terra.

A huge bonus were MC's BFFs! There were parts where banter between Michael/Cap and Terra/Michelle made me guffaw!

Overall, a truly enjoyable read with the ending that isn't a cliffy but makes you wish could dive into book 2 IMMEDIATELY! I had a couple of "Say what??" kind of moments but they didn't take away from me liking the story enough to 5 star it. If you take this book for what it is - a fictional novel written for entertainment purses - you'll really enjoy this!

Cheers!

Michael has been a Marine for 10 years. Since a year he’s home working as a Gun Runner. He isn’t looking for a relationship until he sees Terra being dragged across a parking lot by her former abusive boyfriend. Nobody steps up to help her but Michael. Terra is immediately attracted but a non-catholic, non-italic man would never be approved by her father, the Godfather of the Italian Mafia.

Both have their secrets. Michael doesn’t reveal his profession and Terra doesn’t reveal who she really is. How long can they keep their secret? Will they be able to stick to Michael’s No-Sex-For-30-Days?

What I loved are both main characters! I also loved how feisty Terra is, both their dirty mouths and Michael’s friend Cap. I hope that Cap and Terra’s friend Michelle get a book too or we can read more about them in a second book.

Now some MINOR issues for me personally. I felt that Terra needed to reveal her secret when Michael confessed everything. I really missed an epilogue :( I’m not a big fan of insta-love. Condoms, birth control, ... were never discussed.

The next books in this series will be The Game Changer & The Good Boss. The Gun Runner was the first book I read from this author and get 3,75 stars. I look forward to read more. Any suggestions on a book?

Buddy Read with Elizabeth from Crazies R Us! Love you my Shhlutty friend!

Can we talk about cover lust?! Swoon!

Terra is frustrated with always being judged by her family name and tired of the expectations being a mafia heiress comes with. When Michael Tripp in his expensive suit saves her and her louboutins from a bad situation she finds she can't get the handsome man out of her mind. He's a bad man, he's not looking for something more and she's a good girl, she doesn't want the bad anymore. The sparks fly though and the two find themselves giving in to their feelings, all while covering up the secrets they know could break them apart. When the truths are revealed will they still be able to stand together as one?

"Does he know you're a mafia princess?" I shook my head emphatically. "No."

Terra is much more than a mafia princess, in fact she's got a lot of spunk, but she's lacking trust and direction in her life. Michael is handsome, well-dressed, and...wait for it...a good guy. Yep, throw all your bad assumptions out the window, because Michael is going to woo you with his loyalty, his friendship, his sexual expertise, and his good looks and maybe a hint of his bad boy capabilities with his marine background and gun runner technicques. Michael brings a spark to Terra's life andmakes her want for something more. I really enjoyed both these characters, particularly what they brought out in eachother. They had a lot of secrets, things from their past that shaped them, and as they opened up to one another we got to see a different side to them than just the heiress and the gun runner. While Terra's life is just floating by and Michael's is non-stop action, together they find passion, adventure, and an emotional bond they cannot deny. This is one of the most realistic relationships that I've read from Scott and I gotta hand it to him, they might be my new favorite.

"No half-ass nothing. You are fucking fun runner, Tripp. The Gun Runner."

The Gun Runner is an action-packed book, both in terms of guns and mafia activity, but also smut and emotional dialogue. The book is told in dual POV from both main characters, allowing the reader an in depth look at their life when separated and together. There's also an incredible cast of secondary characters that you won't be able to shake, from the hilarious best friends to the secretive family members. The plot definitely winds deep and is perfectly set up for more books in the series. I know I am sitting on pins and needles waiting on the next book, because some of the twists Scott Hildreth ended the book with made me desperate for more. If you enjoy Scott's special brand of romance and storytelling, you won't want to miss the engaging and suspenseful The Gun Runner, book one in the Mafia Made series.

There is something to be said about a book that stays fresh in your mind a week after reading it, even more so if it has stayed on your mind after some seriously stressful life stuff. The Gun Runner was that book for me this week and it is definitely deserving of these 5 stars.

Great book until the end. I mean I shook my Kindle trying to get a few more pages, but nothing.

There's lots of hot sex, secrets on both sides, and little bit of angst with when to say L word. It was great and I was loving every minute of it until the last pages. It just ended with a HFN and several holes. Yes, there's another book, but is it more of Michael and Terra or is it about Cap or Lance or... I need more now!

ERMAGAWD! TGR is your favorite action movie and the best chick flick ever made rolled into one badass, slammin', no holds barred Mafia book!

The opening scene......oh man I read it twice! There's nothing sexier than a sexy alpha dude dressed to the nines coming to the rescue of a damsel in distress! Hello! Michael went IN! Like a wrecking ball, dude dropped Vincent like a wannabe bully without his crew around to help....after that scene this story was at like five gazillion stars!

Michael is a former marine running a very lucrative gun business. Terra is a Mafia princess hiding her identity because she wants Michael to like her for who she is and not her connections. The two embark on this super hot, super physical, "thing" (as in we'll just lie to each other and pretend the horizontal tango is all we're interested in) until reality kicks them in the rear! What's done in the dark, will always come to light, baby!

TGR is fast- paced, hot, and action packed! The scenes flow well, the sex flows even better, and the way Michael speaks to Terra is beyond sexy! Their "thing" is real life, not fantasy. Very realistic and believable from beginning to end!

TGR is a kickass start to this Mafia series! You want this series. Trust! Hold on to your seat because TGR starts hard and ends harder! Boom! You've. Been. Warned.

The Gun Runner (Mafia Made #1) by Scott Hildreth
4 stars!!!

“…the union of family is a greater bond than any other, with the exception of one. Love.”

This is my first book by Scott Hildreth and colour me impressed. It is no secret I love my mafia books and I have to admit that is what first drew me to this book, along with the cover. The mafia have always been feared, you only read a little about what is said in papers but underneath reporters license I have always been intrigued about the goings on behind closed doors and what drives these men to be the men they choose to be…surely it can’t always be about the money, maybe the notoriety or is just the buzz? Who knows!

“Love has no boundaries, and at that instant, for the first time, I felt that whatever connection anyone on earth might have, we certainly had.”

The Gun Runner is a different spin on the mafia, the main focus of this story is Tripp who desperately tries to stay out of their clutches, but sometimes the promise of good ole “green” is too big an opportunity to miss. Tripp was a marine, well versed in combat and undercover ops and of course guns and their arsenal. Now out of service he is a gun runner, her obtains, builds and sells guns to those causes he feel are worthy. While he is selling illegally he does have his scruples about him. He doesn’t sell to the man on the street, but more to causes to eradicate bad and suffering, his heart was in the right place.

Tripp is alpha through and through, he oozes power, strength and charm. He carries himself like a man in control and a panther ready to strike. He was confident, charismatic and a very filthy talker. He commanded every room he walked in and the attention of anyone within it, he exuded presence and ultimately fear. His brothers in arms were like a family, the only family he had and the scenes when these group of men together were at times intense and well as hilarious.

“She asked me to leave her alone.”
“Yeah. Guess fuckin’ what? My old high school sweetheart asked me not to pole it in her butt, too. And you know what? She fuckin’ liked it. Women don’t always know what they want. What they say and what they want is two different things. Remember that. Words of wisdom from Cap’s vault.”

Tripp and Terra’s paths cross on an innocuous visit to a coffee shop for his morning cup of Joe. Tripp witnesses Terra being manhandled and dragged across a car park by her ex and being the noble man he was; he steps in to help a damsel in distress. These two were instantly attracted to each other and while Terra would have been more than happy to bump uglies with her saviour, Tripp was more reserved. He wasn’t looking, but there was something about Terra that kept him frequenting the same coffee shop day after day in the hope that their paths cross once again.

Terra and Tripp were insanely hot together, holy combustion and Scott Hildreth really hit the nail on the head with the attraction, passion and chemistry between these two. It is not often I gel with a male authors take on romance, but Scott Hildreth did really well in portraying both Terra and Tripp’s thoughts and feelings.

“When I’m with you, nothing else matters. When nothing else matters, the world around me dissolves, leaving only you. And. Nothing. Else. Matters.”

Terra was a spoiled trust fund baby who had probably seen more corruption and bloodshed than Tripp. She was a mafia princess, the daughter of a mob boss and was well and truly under her daddy’s thumb. Despite the family business, Terra wanted no part and was actually truly unhappy in the fact that her surname put many people off even being her friend. She was lonely and for once just wanted to be normal, so it is no surprise she keeps her surname to herself while getting to know Tripp. Terra though was likeable, despite her little lies, she was a smart cookie, perceptive and deceptive but that is no surprise given the blood running through her veins.

“My father would kill me if he found out what I was doing, but Michael was so much more than a novelty to me. He was everything I wanted in a man, but he wasn’t Italian and I didn’t think he was catholic…”

This is a relationship built on lies, deceit and omissions but one where they come to bite you on the bum. How long can Terra keep her true identity a secret and can Tripp’s “investor” job title really keeps Terra from finding out the true line of work he is in. However, this is all about the chemistry, the relationship build from friendship to more and that all-consuming love story. But also, this book has plenty of action to keep you engrossed from page to page. Covert missions, deals and dipping toes all bring this story to an engrossing head and has really whetted the appetite for what is to come.

I read this in one sitting, was glued from page to page and now I am eagerly anticipating the next one…what is on the cards for these two? Will a relationship built on a bed of lies really stand a chance and will the mafia get their grip into Tripp? This man has a cunning head on his shoulders and I feel that the mafia may have just met their match…bring on book 2.

Scott Hildreth writes an engaging story with interesting characters. So far I have tried one other book by the author but couldn't get past the sample due to the heroines body issues that she had. There is enough body shaming in social media so I don't need to read about it. You don't have to do it to yourself. But I'm getting off topic here.

Micahel has sepent the last ten years in the Marines he is now a free man and has established his own business as a arms dealer. He is a grey area of the law. He has no family and likes it like that. That is until he one day saves a Italian damsel in distress.

Terra is a mafia princess and after a split with her ex who drags her out of the coffee shop and is abusive she gets saved by a knight in shining tarnished armour. They hit it off and the relationship development progressed naturally. I loved that there is no instalove or cheating which I love. They can't forget one another but they both have their secrets.

You know what they say though.

Three can keep a secret if two of them are dead. Terra finds out his secret. So get off your high horse there sweetheart cause you ain't much better. You lied big time. This is no the colour suits you when it totally doesn't.

My problem with Terra? Trust fund baby and spoilt. Michael is a fantastic hero. The sex scenes are hot.

When I read a mafia book I expect it to be dirty and gritty. Ok so this wasn't rainbows and unicorns but I felt as if that edge was missing.

Me being ambivalent about this book is noone's fault but my own the same applies that I lost interest in the story.

Just found out that this ends in a cliffhanger. Well bugger me that is fan-fucking-tastic and no release date on book two yet. Gah! Why peeps? Why? I'm 39 % in. If I'd known that then well....nuff said!

This book was sexy. Terra Agrioli was a mob princess who was dating guys below her level. One day when a ex-boyfriend got physical with her, Michael Tripp came to the rescue.
Tripp was an ex military but current arms smuggler and he just didn't do relationships.
Once he met Terra, everything changed.
He told her that he "wanted to earn the right to watch you pull your panties up your thigh...to reach around and clasp your bra while watching me watch you..."

They began seeing each other but withholding some crucial information about each other. The more time they spent together, the more it was clear that they both were in it for the long haul. Of course, mob life is never smooth sailing.

Tripp was sexy and very direct. I enjoyed his character a little more than Terra's. She wasn't stupid but a little more naive than a mob princess should be. The narrator made this book even better for me and I plan on going right into book 2.

$&@#!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING!!!?? REALLY!!!!! Yes, I HAVE to read the next in this series. She acted all indignant over Michaels job and his dealings yet she didn't tell him she was a mafia princess. I understand in the beginning why she did it. But as things progressed and became more serious between them, nothing!! Tara, kept the truth from him through the entire book. I'm so frustrated with this book!!! I'm torn between like and hate.

**The Gun Runner generously provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.**

3 "And nothing else mattered." Stars

Scott Hildreth wrote an entertaining mafia-esque romance. The first person writing style is engaging and the characters intriguing. There was a certain charisma to this book that made in an entertaining read. The plot is different from what I'm used to especially where a mafia princess is concerned and the hero she chooses. From start to finish there was never a dull moment where these two main characters were concerned.

Michael and Terra weren't looking for each other but insta-lust went viral the moment their eyes met. Their individual stories are just as interesting as their story together is passionate. The heat emanated from the pages, especially from Michael, is undeniable. As the two foster a new relationship without revealing pertinent details about themselves their lives begin to intersect in ways neither of them fully understand. Secondary characters provide excellent comedic relief as well as the banter between Michael and Terra.

With more to come from the Mafia Made series I hope Michael and Terra's story gets further delved into. There are some plot points I think that need wrapped up in addition to the biggest one where book one leaves off. It's not a cliffhanger though, just leaves more to be desired in a good way. The Gun Runner was an easy, enjoyable read. I look forward to more in the series.

Ok, I finished this book yesterday but I have been going crazy – (yes crazier then I am already am) on how I can express how much I LOVED this book when in fact I want to CHOKE, yes CHOKE a main character… Bwhahahahaha!!! I was channeling Sienna from MONEY SHOT yesterday when I finished….
YES, Mr. Hildreth has done it again he has created a story that had me sighing, clapping, biting my nails, fanning myself, taking MANY time outs to think (dangerous I know), and most important greedy for MORE!!!
The Gun Runner is my first introduction to a Mafia book and I can honestly say that I am hooked. From page one, I was riveted to where the story was going to go, and who these characters where….
Let’s start with Michael Tripp….

*Sigh* – Yes, that is the reaction I attach to Tripp. He is a deep, thought provoking, raw character that I am positive you will want to learn more and more about as you read. The personality of Michael was an intriguing discovery and one I am pretty sure has only just begun. The way that this character chose to walk through his life was something I admired greatly.

“…we are who we are, and changing isn’t always an option. Acceptance was the key, and for me to attempt to be someone or something I wasn’t would be to truly tell a lie.” – Michael.

Another strong reason I LOVED this character was because of his love for the woman who captured his heart, there is nothing sexier than unconditional love, enters Terra. The below quote, stopped this reader cold…. I LOVED this scene!! Can you say *chill bumps*!!!

Terra Wilson was someone who I wanted to choke. I will not tell you why, because I HATE spoilers. I will state that she was the type of character that I LOVE to read about and she is the reason that I have always enjoyed Mr. Hildreth’s writing. Terra was REAL!!! She is the type of character that adds that level of emotion to a story, that makes you want to turn the pages faster and faster. She is the type of character that has you yelling at the author because he is not doing what you want. So even though I want to choke Terra, I LOVED her, she was a huge part of the roller coaster ride that this reader went on while reading, even if she, herself never did get to ride one. *wink*.

As always the secondary characters in this Hildreth novel are TOP NOTCH. I loved Cap and Michelle. He was not only intriguingly sexy, she was honestly snarky, and both were hilarious. The scenes that included Michael Tripp’s team were in a word CAPTIVATING. There was one scene in particular that had me ACTUALLY sweating bullets, yes like need a shower after reading. At the same time I was beyond curious to learn about the Agrioli Family. Yes the characters that were introduced from the crime family have this reader anxious for more.

Overall the NOVEL was OUTSTANDING. LOL-- if all my shouty CAPS, did not help convey my excitement, then a great book discussion will, WHO IS READY TO TALK ABOUT THIS BOOK????
I can not wait to read this novel again, yes, The Gun Runner will be the book I am reading the week before The Game Changer is released.
WELL DONE, Mr. Hildreth, I am very, very, very, excited for more!!! That is it, that is all I got….

Stopping at 6%. Not for me.

I'm on this project right now of unearthing older books on my Kindle, and I downloaded this one in 2016. I don't know, maybe Past SuperWendy would have enjoyed this - but Present Day SuperWendy just could not. In the first chapter the heroine is getting dragged out of a coffee shop by an abusive ex. The hero intervenes. The heroine's thought when she sees the hero riding to her rescue? How attractive he is. While she's being dragged off by her abusive ex. Look, the human brain works in mysterious ways but if I was in danger my first thought would be "get the hell away" not "wow, my rescuer is a total snack."

On top of that, the hero is former military and is now an arms dealer working out of Kansas City. I mean, maybe if this was a thriller - but published by Carina Press and marketed as a romance? No thank you ma'am.

Omg yes!! Love, love, love this book!! Could not put it down!!
Terra is a mafia princess who dislikes anything to do with the mafia. She is a trust fund baby who just got out of an abusive relationship. But her ex isn't done with her and when her ex decides to put hands on her again he is interrupted by a big fine ex marine. Terra doesn't care who he is she just wants to see him again.
Tripp is an ex marine who doesn't stand for men putting their hands on women. So when he happens to visit Starbucks and he sees this POS putting his hands on this beautiful woman he interrupts. And now he saved the day but all he can think about is when he is gonna see her again, if ever. What is he thinking? It's been 11 years since he dated, he knows in his line of work women are just distractions. But can he stay away?!?!
I loved this whole story!! This is my first book by this author and it will not be my last. This was a very well written book with exceptional character development. 1) Tripp is like alpha sexy hero male!! 2)Terra is a sex loving mafia princess who hates criminals 3)Cap (Tripps friend) is sexy funny beastly New Girl watching man (I love him) 4)Michelle is Terra's bff and over the top blunt and so funny. There are more characters that I like but those are my top 4. Oh and Hank, I <3 Hank!!
Terra is upsetting me. I mean we all know how it's going to go down but the longer she holds on to her secret the worse it's gonna be!! Ahhhhhhh! But the fast paced romance they have going on is just perfect!! I even like her father which I didn't think I would but really he is not too bad. Between me and you (for those who have read this) do you not think there is a possibility Tripp had some Italian in him?!?! There were so many scenes that I just loved. I laughed so much. Cap is over the top and I love him (I think I have mentioned that a few times)! Definitely loved the movie theater part!! I am upset this is a cliffhanger. I need the next book like now!! So please buy this book you will not be disappointed!

"I kissed her and leaned away. 'I'm sorry, but I'll do whatever I have to do to protect you. Always. I can't turn it on and off.'"

5 Tripp stars!!! I'm starting to turn into a Scott Hildreth book boyfriend junkie!!! I'm loving Tripp!!!

Tripp is the ultimate bad boy, brooding, dark, and sexy as sin. He's not afraid of anything or anyone and will tell anyone who gets in his way. Terra is used to danger, and it's not usually something she runs away from. So when Tripp rescues her she knows she needs more of him in her life. And as much as he tries to deny his feelings for her, she can't help but get under his skin....

Look, I won't lie, I will read anything Scott writes, because simply put, that man can write!!! And this book is no different, the minute I picked it up I knew I wouldn't be putting it down. Which is usually what happens for me and his books! I love Tripp, like love him.... he's everything a girl could want or need in a man... but I have a thing for bad boys, so that could be it. Terra, is phenomenal... her attitude makes her fun to read! I love the relationship these two develop between each other... it's packed full of heat. Ugh, and that ending... I need more... like yesterday!!! Another great book by Scott and I can't wait to see what's coming next....

OH.My.Gosh!! I literally just finished reading. How do
I even begin....I am sitting here with a huge smile on my face and filled with so many parts of The Gun Runner swirling around in my head. I have read every single book Scott Hildreth has written and even a few he wrote and then dumped lol. This! This series is going to be up there with my favorites! I fell in love with so many of these "New" characters! Michael, Terra, Cap, Michelle, and especially "Hank the Tank" <--- ❤️!! I just want to let you know that even though it leaves you wanting more!!! The Gun Runner is not a Cliffhanger in the sense that you will want to throw your kindle across the room. Like I said in the beginning I have a huge smile on my face and you will too!! I would give this book ten stars if I could and everyone needs to read it. Thanks Scott for being you and giving all your readers stories to smile about. I.Can't.wait for The Game Changer!! :-)

Ehhh this didn't do it for me. The dialogue was stilted. Some of the things they said sounded more like something a teenager would say. All of the drama was a result of a lack of communication. Both of them weren't being upfront about things in their life. Terra found out what Michael hadn't told her. She flipped out and got overly dramatic. Of course none of this inspired her to be honest with him. Most of the book was rather dull. I may read the next one, but I'm not looking forward to a bunch of drama due to Terra's lies.

“When I’m with you, nothing else matters. When nothing else matters, the world around me dissolves, leaving only you. And. Nothing. Else. Matters.”

“Life isn’t perfect baby, and it never will be. But a bad day with you will always be better than my best day at war.”

The Gun Runner is the first book in an exciting new series by Scott Hildreth and is told from dual points of view. The Gun Runner follows the story of Michael and Terra. Michael is a former marine. He used to save the good guys and is now selling guns to the bad ones. He doesn’t take anything from anyone, especially Italian mob bosses….Terra has lived a life that most would be terrified of. She is untouchable, the daughter of a dangerous mobster. When she meets Michael, she can’t help but be drawn to him. He is everything that she’s always wanted. There’s only one problem….He can’t know who she is. Terra wants Michael to get to know who she is and fall in love with the real her and not get caught up in her identity…..

Now, if you know me, then you know that I don’t read a ton of books by male authors. That being said, Scott Hildreth is an author that has a ton of buzz surrounding him. When I heard about The Gun Runner, I just knew I had to read it. The synopsis sounded right up my alley, so I gave it a try. And let me tell you, I am so glad that I did.

Told from dual points of view, The Gun Runner is fast paced, sexy, exciting and filled with danger. This story pulls you in from the very first page and captivates you the entire time. This is a book that you can easily devour in one sitting. It will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see how things will play out.

I loved Michael and Terra from the moment I met them. Michael was tough and didn’t take crap from anyone. I loved the way that he was with Terra and appreciated how he wanted to make sure what they had was worth investing time in before he just jumped into bed with her. Terra was just plain awesome. She was badass and wasn’t afraid of anything. She is the type of woman that will go after what she wants. Put her together with Michael and those two are an explosive combination. One, that I could not get enough of.

The Gun Runner was an exciting and entertaining read. It’s well written and filled with action, suspense, secrets, lies and lots of sexy good times. This book doesn’t really end with a cliffy, but it definitely ends in a way that will leave you begging for more and dying to know what will happen next. This is my first book by this author and I for one can not wait to see what he’s got up his sleeve next for Michael and Terra.

Scott Hildreth is s prolific self published writer and this is his first foray into the traditional publishing world. The Gun Runner is book 1 in the Mafia Made series. It will leave you wanting MORE!

Michael Tripp and Terra Agriloi meet by chance. Terra is impressed with his fighting skills. Both are hopeful to run into each other again. Well, that's the surface plan anyway. What they don't share with each other is the true nature of their business. Tripp is a wealthy Gun Runner and Terra is a wealthy Mafia Princess.

Never good to start a relationship on secrets but off they go. Tripp is a perfect hero for this story. Honorable, chivalrous, and smoking hot! Loved his view on when to have s3x. Love that he wanted to get to know Terra first before he committed. And really loved that he fell head over heels for her.

The book has plenty of Hildreth's trademarks: Great comedic timing, creative s3x (I guarantee you won't look at fitting rooms the same!), a little bit of angst, and most important: a statement on the human condition. In this case, do we do what we have to as society dictates or due we do the right thing to try and correct the wrongs that society has wrought? Tripp does what he feels is right to help the underdog succeed even if he stretches the law to get that done. This book also brings movie ready action scenes, some suspense and a peek into the Mafia family from Tripp and Terra's viewpoints.

Fair warning--this is not a finished story. Book 2 will continue where book 1 leaves off. Not a huge cliffhanger but not an HEA either. Wonderful secondary characters in Tripp's band of Runners. Looking forward to seeing Tripp and Terra share more of themselves and working through the angst that that is going to bring.

Scott Hildreth dove head first into the Mafia world and nailed it! Michael Tripp is a trip I’d love to take over and over again. I mean he’s as Alpha as they come…ex-marine, arms dealer, dirty talker and sexy AF. He’s a man that lives by his code of ethics and makes his decisions on whether or not he feels it’s right. So helping the woman being drug out of a coffee shop was a no brainer. He just didn’t expect to be caught up in her. Terra is a mafia princess, but meeting a new guy and telling him that tends to have them running for the hills. Deciding not to tell the sexy stranger that saves her from her abusive ex, she falls head over heels for him.

The vulnerability in Michael is enough to make anyone swoon over this man, not to mention that when he loves, he loves fiercely and will do anything to protect what he loves. If you love Hildreth’s books, this one will not disappoint at all. I’m patiently waiting book two, because even though this one didn’t really end in a cliffy, there is an unresolved secret that will definitely do some a$$ biting when it finally comes out.
