Jack Handey is an American humorist. He is best known for his Deep Thoughts, a large body of surrealistic one-liner jokes, as well as his "Fuzzy Memories" and "My Big Thick Novel" shorts. Many people have the false impression that Jack Handey is not an actual person, but a character created by Saturday Night Live or a pen name used by National Lampoon.

"When I was about ten years old, we set up a lemonade stand on the sidewalk in front of our house. But we didn't sell many glasses, and after a few hours, we took it down. I think that was the first time I realized that the world doesn't give a damn about you or anything you do."

Every year at Christmastime a whole set of emotions sweeps over me—emotions which probably go back to my childhood.
The first emotion is wondering if I’m going to get any presents. Then it changes to “Hooray, I got some presents!” Then it changes to “Is that all the presents I got?”

I love absurdist humor. Jack Handey has been a comedy writing hero for a long time and this book did not disappoint. I only gave it 4 stars because though it was funny, it wasn't side-splitting funny and it was rather short.

It's Jack Handey, but instead of being just short quips, they are short stories and reminiscences of childhood.

Hilarious. When he's on, he's ON. When he's off, he's awful. The moments of genius totally outrank the filler, though.
