'Daddy, don't touch me there.': One woman's story of survival.

Rate this book
Eleven year old Monique’s world is brazenly disrupted, as her father a Jamaican police sergeant bullies his sexual lust on her, violating her innocence. With inadequate protective systems in place, being fearful for the lives of her younger sister and herself, she is forced to find the courage to escape within. She arrives in America after three long years of torment and incest, where she is scorned by her mother who chooses the love of a pedophile over the care of her child. Through the power of forgiveness and the will to live, Monique finds the strength to be bold, exposing a subject that has been tabooed for too long.

Amazing book

This book was a powerful, and at the same time uplifting novel. A book about surviving, about facing and confronting your problem and most importantly forgiving those who wronged you so you can be at peace with yourself.

Epic read

My heart goes out to this brave, strong and courageous lady. This story is truly heartbreaking, the beautiful young woman that wrote it tho is an absolute inspiration. A must read for incest abuse survivors, Monique really touches on some important facts for the healing process of abuse like this. Thank you for sharing your story. You are loved!

Very courageous and resourceful

The author of this book went through hell most of her life. I was very happy to read that she got through it and even started to help other victims out there in the world. The last 30 or so pages took me a while to read. I almost lost interest in the book, but I finished it and I'm glad that I did.

Youre a lioness

This book was great from start to finish, had me eagerly flipping pages. The strength you had growing up and surviving on your own. I hope you find peace and healing though it will be difficult.

A harrowing but very brave and honest telling of a story that needs to be told but is so often swept under the rug. Miss Doran is a survivor in every sense of the word, and has told a story that will no doubt embolden others to come forward, shake off the cloak of shame and victimization, share their story, and begin the healing process.

I bought this book yesterday 18/11/2020 and I'm done reading 19/11/2020 I just couldn't put it down the author showed courage resilience and forgiveness after going through such a harsh childhood from the ones who should care .. A great read even though teary eyed at times. I recommend this book. As an Author my self.
