3.75 stars. This was pretty good and a quick read. Took me about 40 mins or so. Anyway, in this world time travel is a thing but it is illegal. There’s a secret company, Reconnect, that for a heavy price tag, will go back and rescue your loved ones from their untimely demise and bring them back to you. There’s a mission that goes horribly wrong, secrets about it this Reconnect are discovered, the FBI gets on their trail and some nice art and action. Great pacing, hooked me in really quick.

A really great idea that is poorly executed. Good luck trying to follow the story. With all its jumping around in time it's difficult to know which character is the one you should be following. It doesn't really matter, though, as the story never made me care about any of them.

This comic has a great premise but it was unfortunately disappointing in execution.
The biggest problem is the artwork. It's murky and it's rough, and most of the men are VERY hard to distinguish from each other, which badly damaged the comic's readability.
Beyond that, the story just doesn't do enough with its time travel premise. People constantly go back and change things and shoot people and shoot them again ... and it's OK but not amazing.
Ah well.

Solid Chris Nolan-esque Time traveling crime comic. Ed Brisson, Michael Walsh and Jordie Bellaire do a great job (as expected). I’m so in love with Michael Walsh’s art.

If you are incredibly wealthy and a loved one dies in an accident, Reconnect can help you out (for a hefty fee). They’ll send their agents back in time to just before the death. Seth & Mark will snatch the person, fake the death, and in a few weeks you’ll be reunited with the person that you had lost. Unfortunately all of this is illegal, and the FBI has been investigating for quite a while, hoping to get a good lead. Seth & Mark find themselves caught between the FBI and their employers, who don’t have their best interests in mind.
Ed Brisson has written a captivating mashup of hardboiled crime dramas and time traveling chicanery. That’s an interesting juxtaposition that you don’t encounter often. Yes, the plot is incredibly timey wimey and very very confusing. Personally I found this to be a feature, not a bug. The characters themselves are confused and frustrated, and the plot complications made their emotional states clearer.
Michael Walsh’s art is simple and dark, echoing the noir tones in the story. It looks more like a crime story than a SF one. Unfortunately the dark tones and shadows mean that occasionally the details are lost, and it can be difficult at times to determine exactly what is happening.
This isn’t a comic for everyone, but I found it to be a great deal of fun. The plot twists kept me guessing and wondering what could possibly happen next.

What it's about: The Premise: If you can find the secretive Comeback Corporation and pay a large enough sum of money, they will travel back in time to prevent your death. The Reality: Comeback is worried you might tell others they can travel through time...
What I thought: I remember seeing a TV show that had this premise; I'm assuming it was based on this graphic novel. (Quick research shows I'm thinking of YouTube's Lifeline, which I watched an episode or two of; and further research is not showing a link between these two properties, which is pretty weird, as they have an almost-identical premise.)
This seems to be a one-shot graphic novel, which I appreciate - tell me the story, then let me go, instead of locking me into an ongoing series of indefinite length. (Though there does seem to be the potential to expand on some loose ends.)
Why I rated it like I did: As time-travel stories go, this one is not bad.

Ugh. Don't waste your time on this wasted opportunity. Time travel stories are convoluted to begin with and this one confounds the reader even further by making it maddeningly impossible to tell what is going on or even care about what is going on. You'll be lost from start to finish and hen its over there is absolutely zero level of satisfaction. Skip this one, I promise you won't miss it.

Read via single issues, not trade paperback.
3.5 stars - but not because it didn't deserve 5, more because it feels like the story warranted a lot more than 5 issues. A lot of stuff could have had a lot more depth, the story felt rushed to fit into the space Brisson had allotted.

A gritty time-travel comic following two guys who get paid to travel back in time to save people from tragic deaths. When a mission goes awry, they discover that their organization isn’t what it seems, and they end up on the run from the FBI. A very no-nonsense story, with shoot-‘em-up action throughout.

this was fun.
sci fi abd crime.
a little but in looper in here, even with some of the laws of time travel.
I wish 'the damsel' had more to do. it felt like she was going to have a larger role after issue 3 but nothing really happened.
a lot of shock moments abd cliff hangers which work out well in the end due to time travel. worth a read. nice art and colours.

Will be adapted as a movie by Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes, Colossal). Not as clever as the synopsis suggests. The art also has issues as it's hard to tell the characters apart some of the time - which is a stone dead killer for narrative. Truly expected more.

"Comeback" is an engaging piece of time travel Noir. The book matches compelling characters, well conceived time travel twists and a somewhat underdeveloped plot for an enjoyable, if not amazing, experience.

Reconnect is an organization that promises to travel into the past and rescue your loved one before they die. For a modest fee ($5 million). Agent's Mark and Seth do the snatching. But maybe Reconnect's actions aren't as clean as they appear to be.
It's a fascinating premise for a story and although I'm really not a big fan of time travel stories I was curious to see where this went.
In tone it seems to be going for a hardboiled feel. There's lots of blood and violence and all the characters emotions seem stunted. Even the actual "good" guys. That's a tone that not everyone is going to like, but the writer Ed Brisson kept a fast pace and I was curious about how all the twists and turns would work out so I kept reading.
Speaking of the twists and turns, time travel is central to this story. Which means that the time stream changes multiple times over the course of it. That can be a little difficult to follow and it always raises questions about what is or is not possible. You have to go with the flow a bit.
Art wise, to suit the tone, the art is minimalist and the line work is thick with a heavy emphasis on browns. Artist Michael Walsh has a good grip on storytelling and presenting action in his artwork, but the minimalist style does make it hard to recognize characters some of the time.
If you enjoy action movies with high violence quotient and you're okay with time travel, this one is worth your time. But I wouldn't kill myself hunting it down.

I guess I have read this one other time before and just forgot.
Maybe that says enough right there. I get more trade paperbacks and hardcovers than I seem to be able to even keep up with, though I am frantically trying lately. And apparently when I got this in the early part of the summer (or was it spring?), I read it fairly instantly, probably because I saw it getting rave reviews...but I still put it in my newer pile of things I haven't read yet.
And it took me until the second issue in this trade to actually remember that I HAD read this.
Which isn't to say it is bad. It's not. It gets compared to Looper a lot, and yeah, that's apt - it is like Looper without the goofiness (the best parts of Looper). It's a time travel conspiracy/crime story and it's decent enough, but it definitely needs to be more than 5 issues. A solid 10 or 12 issue story would have really benefitted the book. And that comes from someone who LIKES fast-paced stories. It just moves a little too brisk here. But all in all, it's a pretty strong book for Brisson.
And Michael Walsh is pretty great too. Simple, sure, but it's my favorite type of style for crime books like this. A little Giannis Milonogiannis, a little Noel Tuazon, a little Tonci Zonjic. It's cool stuff and his work has only gotten better as evidenced on his tumblr and Zero with Ales Kot.
It's a serviceable book that would be better serviced with a bigger helping - not something I'm accustomed to saying.

In the trade paperback Comeback, time travel is possible through a company called Reconnect. Reconnect is a company that can send its time travelers back to rescue your loved ones from accidents or untimely death. Unfortunately, you'll never get to see them again (because if you do, that will negate the need to send agents back to the past to instigate the rescue) and it is quite expensive (in the millions of dollars). This is an interesting graphic novel, with gritty artwork, though, ultimately, the time travel aspects aren't quite as carefully worked out as they perhaps should be. As another reviewer has noted, it's all a bit "timey-wimey," as Dr. Who might say. The story is kind of confusing, with all its ins and outs, and the moment when time "resets" isn't very clear. When you're working with this sort of material, you really, really have to set it up carefully and make sure it's internally consistent (the movie Looper is a good example). The way the story jumps between the present day and a point 65 (or 66) days earlier, makes this incredibly confusing. I like the spare, noir art, but really wish the writer had spent a bit more time hashing out his plot. **ARC provided by NetGalley

"Reconnect" is an illegal company-- they use time travel to find your recently deceased loved one alive n the past and bring them back to the future. If you have the money ($5million). But it's not all sun and roses, .. Some of those loved ones don't make it back anyway... And something's been happening to some of the clients as well. AND the time agents.
It's an interesting premise. However, the writing is not as concise, as tight as it could be. It took all five of the issues enclosed in this trade paperback to get that idea across. It would have been better if they could have gotten further along the idea-line. I wonder if the comic is still being produced.

I feel like I don't read enough time travel stories, but I was surprised at how well I was able to keep up with this. It was just convoluted enough to be sort of a mind fuck, but the mechanisms behind time travel and time paradoxes were almost too simple. Other than that, it was a pretty enjoyable read. Character development and inter-personal relationships could've been fleshed out a little more, but whatever.

I love the idea: for a hefty fee, a secret group can go back in time and save your loved one from death. Kind of like a reverse Looper?
I liked the art, and from panel to panel and page to page, Brisson's writing is excellent, especially in the first issue. But over its full five issues, the plot gets a little hard to follow. Overall I enjoyed it though.

This is a great time travel book that I think slipped under pretty much everyone's radar. The story gets a little crazy at times and it might take a few reads to wrap your head around it, but I think it's worth it. Definitely would like to see this team put out a sequel.

Great Time-Travel Noir story, 4 out of 5 issues are definitely better than Looper, the ending is maybe a little bit too perfect.
