This series though! Hinamatsuri reaches new heights - first of all with Yakuza Nitta getting a temporary new lodger and Hina getting lost on a school trip featuring a series-breaking reveal; followed by a move to three years later where we get to catch up with Mao (in China!); Hitomi (still killing it in business) and Hina (still doing f-all :D). Loving this series so much. Three super powered girls and after over 50 chapters not one super fight or super villain, just the day-in-the-life of story of their (and their friends) mostly ordinary lives! Four Stars, 8 out of 12 peak volume so far! 2026 read
We finally achieve peak Hitomi as the world's most awesome middle schooler fully unleashes the limitless power of her quiet competence, networking charm, and sense of responsibility.
The rest of the book also happens. Randomly, halfway through we suddenly skip ahead three years with no real reason or immediate impact. Oooookay.
Didn't expect the random time skip halfway through but okay. Volume was fine, some good moments but not so many that stand out against the rest of the series.
The manga has the usual, laugh out loud, absurd comedy. It’s also surprising how many of the stories the anime didn’t adapt, given the level of comedy here. This series has a few seasons worth of comedy.
Hina is from outerspace has powers and is always hungry, especially for salmon roe. She somehow ended up living with Nitta who is yakuza and loves quality vases. Her home planet sends others to bring her back. They all have equally ridiculous interactions with humans.
