Chinese edition of "Leonardo's Dream," an uplifting story of Leonardo the penguin who dreams of flying and succeeds one day with the help of an albatross.
Hans de Beer was born in Muiden, a small town near Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. He began to draw when he went to school, mostly when the lessons got too boring. In college, he studied history, but he was drawing so many pictures during the lectures that he decided to become an artist. He went on to study illustration at the Rietveld Academy of Art in Amsterdam. Hans de Beer's Little Polar Bear books enjoy great international success and have been published in eighteen languages in 27 countries.
Best for kids ages 8 and up. Early Literacy Skills: Print Motivation, Narrative Skills
From cover: Leonardo the penguin had a dream. He wanted to fly. Every day, Leonardo would smile confidently at his little wings and encourage them to grow. He'd stand on one leg at the top of the cliff, letting the wind brush through his feathers and imagine that he was flying over the ocean. The other penguins laughed at Leonardo. Who ever heard of a flying penguin? But Leonardo was no discouraged. Day after day, he practiced flying. He hopped and flapped and hopped and flapped, but it was no use. He never left the ground. How Leonardo proves that perseverance pays off and even the most impossible dreams can come true is an uplifting story that will send young spirits soaring.
Leonardo is an adorable illustrated character who kids will not only cheer for to fly, but will fall in love with him and his friends. follow him on his way to finding out how it will be to fly and make some friends in the process.
