Bad Boy Empire #2

His Secret Baby

Rate this book
My wife stole our baby.

She's beautiful, got a mouth full of sass, and she owes me a favor. So I've been cashing in to make her mine. Every week I think I'm done with her, but she pulls me back in for another night of hot, wet action. When she finally pays off her debt, she'll be giving me more than just her body.

My playboy lifestyle has a time limit. I want more. Marriage. Kids. It’s time for me to settle down. Christine's perfect. She looks like an angel but she's a devil in bed. It’s a match made in Heaven.

She thought I was joking when I dragged her to the altar. I said my vows and slipped my ring on her finger. I thought she’d make an honest man out of me.

I was wrong. She ran off without a word. Two years of my life, gone. The baby I never knew, taken from me.

But I'm not a man who ever gives up. I'll put my ring back on her finger. I'll make her mine again. And damn it, I'll give her another baby.

My husband doesn’t know about our baby...

Two years ago I met Thane. I knew he was bad news, but his devilish smile pulled me into his lap and his honeyed tongue talked me into his bed. He was pure sin, good for one night of fun, and nothing else. For one night, I forgot about his dangerous side.

He was all risk, and sleeping with him was a high. But then I got pregnant. He might have sweet-talked his way into my bed, but I wasn't going to raise my son with him.

I ran away. He never knew about the baby.

Now he's found us and he wants his family back. A bigger family... another baby.

I never wanted to be part of his life. He's taken us to a dangerous place. I’m scared for myself, scared for my child.

But when he wraps his arms around me, I always manage to forget the danger…

I got this book because of the title and I’m a sucker for a single parent book. First off, when I got this book I didn’t realize the author put two books in this one. So as I was reading and I didn’t see my percentage go that much higher, I was wondering what other crazy stuff could happened. I soon realized the book ends at the 40% mark. Had I known that I think my reading experience would have been different, but don’t get me wrong you get a full book.

Overall His Secret Baby is a decent read, it needs to be a little more polished but the storyline is there. Thane wants Christine and its insta-lust. I take the book for what it is. Thane is an over-the-top male and he wants Christine not only in bed but as his wife. You just go with it. Christine is kind of confused and doesn’t want to rush into things as any sane normal person would react.

So they get married, she becomes pregnant and realizes Thane is part of a crazy mob world she doesn’t want to be part of. When I started the book it had a lot of promise. I enjoy reading over the top males because it’s one of my guilty pleasures. I was fine with Thane acting possessive, brutish and dominate.

Christine runs away and its two years later and Thane finds her. This is where all the crazy happens. Christine is brought back to where Thane lives, with all the other people part of the mob. This is where Thane frustrates me a lot. He doesn’t dote on Christine, yes he finds her attractive, yes he loves his baby, but he’s not nice. He doesn’t even allow Christine to be with her baby without supervision sort of.

He doesn’t allow Christine to walk around with the baby and the baby is forced to go daycare, which I think is kind of silly. So this book had a lot of angst, I think if the author pushed the angst just down a notch this could have been a really good book. On top of all of that there’s a crazy woman who is possessive over Christine’s baby. The crazy lady added a little something extra to the storyline, but Thane doesn’t really understand the situation and yet again he drives me nuts.

Like I said, had I known the book would have ended at the 40% mark, I don’t think I would have cringed as much throughout the read. Also the angst was a bit much, but I’m not really fond of angst so that’s my personal preference. I do like the storyline and I like the over-the-top characters, so I feel like the future books could only get better.

Just when you think Vanessa Waltz has given her readers everything, she pulls another fantastic story out of her hat. His Secret Baby is filled with secrets, lies, murder, betrayal, heartache, hot sex scenes, sexy alpha men, and some twists and turns thrown in to keep you on the edge of your seat. Ms. Waltz knows how to steam up the pages and captivate her readers.

It's not enough that some rich guy comes into the bar the heroine works in and takes her as part of his payment on a debt. Then decides she's the one, but keeps her on the unknown and does her in the most scandalous ways. Then said rich guy basically kidnaps her to marry her in some secret organization where she has no choice. Then fucks her in the next room where the men cheer her on. Yep the set up goes even further downhill after that. Why do I stick around and finish these books?

Christine is barely making ends meet working in a bar when she meets a rich guy who's into her, but she isn't buying it. Well, Thane takes her into the backroom where he makes her give him a blowjob. Thane keeps stringing her along, taking her places but at no time does he tell her he is going to claim her as his wife.

So they have a ceremony in the secret society, The Syndicate, where Thane's family is high up in the organization. But Christine is a little high willed and escapes only to find out she is pregnant. For over a year she lives and moves to escape Thane finding her. So what's a guy to do when his religion and society have a coup and his family isn't on top of the pyramid any more? Fake his death to get his "wife" to come to his burial.

You got it. He captures her and the baby and brings them back to the place that has seen so much bloodshed and deep hatred. The story goes on with plots of intrigue, general fucking the wife without regard to what she wants and taking over their lives. The story was so far fetched, not even really enjoyable and the sex left me feeling cold more than anything.

The story is told from both sides of the relationship in first person, which I detest. The characters were so flawed and contradicting even their personalities. Overall, I just didn't like it if you couldn't tell. This was the second book in the series, and maybe knowing more about this society may have helped, but I can't bring myself to read any further in this series. It can be read as a standalone if you want.

So nope, I don't recommend it. Returning it to Kindle Unlimited.

3.75-4 stars! ARC review!

***Mild spoilers ahead***

This book (like all of Vanessa's books) was filled with a lot of twists and turns, action, lies, deceits, and hot sex scenes! Christine got recently dumped and is struggling financially even with two jobs. Thane is a syndicate man and is ready to settle down. When he sees Christine he remembers her from his childhood days and knows he has to have her. What should have been a one night stand turns into months. Christine finds out she's pregnant but she doesn't get to tell him because he forces her to marry him. Afraid of her son growing up in a dangerous place she runs away. Two years go by and she's once again struggling and living in the ghetto when Thane finds her and finds out he has a son. He doesn't let her go and wants her to have another baby.

Don't like to give any spoilers but there are a few things that bugged me. Wasn't Thane upset that she hid his son from him for years? Umm, not really, because as soon as he had her in his arms he forgot and had to f*** her. What?! -.- yeah I'm not even making that up! I get that Thane didn't trust her but I really wanted to throw my kindle a few times because of how he treated Christine and sided with the wrong people. Christine at times was strong but at times I felt like she gave in too easily to him even though she had a right to be upset specially when it came to things in regards to her son.

The book is good but not great. But one thing for sure I did love is that they both remained celibate when they were apart. There is no cheating :) I also loved the scenes of Thane with his son, Daniel.

Okay, to be truthful I didn't care for this book at all. I had to put it down and just give it up.
Christine was frustrating and had no backbone even when she was defending her own child. Every time they argued they just ended up having sex.
Thane, what to say about Thane, he had no redeemable qualities that I liked. There were many events in this book (I won't go into specifics) that I thought were ridiculous. I'm sorry but this was not a romance. I won't be reading this one again.

“I was yours the moment I met you.”

This novel was pretty fast paced and addictive!

Thane is a member of the powerful Blackthorn family of the feared Black Dragons Syndicate. The ultimate playboy, he knows that he’ll need to marry and start a family soon. One night, he sees Christine in a bar and recognises her voice – he thinks it’s fate.

Christine knows of the Black Dragons but she can’t ignore the immense attraction between Thane and her. She doesn’t realise that they met years before. She thinks it’s just about sex between them, but two months later, she’s forced into a marriage with Thane in a bizarre ritual at the BD compound. That night, she escapes, pregnant, and spends the next two years evading Thane’s attempts to find her. News of Thane’s death brings her out of hiding and straight into his trap.

Two years on and Thane is the only male surviving member of his deposed family, following a massacre at the compound. He is angered but delighted to find that he has a son, but he wants the whole family package and keeps Christine on lockdown at the compound. Their passion still burns strong but they live in dangerous, restless times, as the Black Dragons try and find their footing under new rule. Christine fights for her freedom, while Thane tries to master her and show her what she means to him, at the same time. Throw in murder, mistrust and madness, and this novel made for a thrilling read!

I'm always excited to read a mafia romance, and Vanessa Waltz's Bad Boy Empire series is as thrilling as they come.

With a sharp, strong voice, this author concocts a story spiced with edgy sensuality, bloody drama and twists to keep you glued to the action until its staggering end. I read it without a single stop, and relished it.

I liked every scene from the forced wedding to the painful separation of the characters to the heart-breaking struggle of a mother to keep her baby. Honestly, it was hard to stand the frustration from seeing Christine suffer to claim her motherly rights, but every injustice kept the tension sky-high.
Thane is a powerfully attractive man and his chemistry with Christina was melting-hot which translated into a bunch of amazing steamy times. I was metaphorically sandwiched between them and oh, my, the heat!

Besides those awesome encounters, the plot grabbed me hard because it involved the Syndicate's twisted politics and rituals, murderous suspense, and Silas making a charismatic appearance. It has everything to keep you on your toes, including a very sweet bond between the handsome, tortured antihero and his courageous bride that counteracts all the spilled blood, destructive violence and crazy Syndicate events.

I'd hate to live in that mafia-owned citadel, but it's a hell of an entertainment to read ;-)

Even being quite skeptical about a plot like this one, I'm drawn to this kind of plot. Sure, it was quite bloody, men who were on top on every law or humans/citizen/ and certainly women. But this one was not bad, the overall and especially by nearly the end with some crazy things, it went a bit like a madhouse, a bit fast but better than no actions at all.
So maybe not a 4 ☆ but a solid 3.5 + stars.
What part I didn't like : the very beginning, it was too much. Sure attraction can do some crazy things. I'm not talking about the father, but the mother. Then, I quite enjoyed her character. By the end, I could understand his pull, his determination or his action in the beginning.
But what I truly enjoyed in this book was the crazy!

Horrible plot!

Save your time and money. This was one of the longest and stupidest books I have ever read. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because the story starts off okay. However, towards the middle is when it goes awry. First of all, the character Christine is ridiculous and Thane is confusing. The author should have done a better job of making him consistent throughout the book. Christine doesn't know how to keep her mouth shut or read a situation. I was so over her. She really irked me. Also, there were so many things left hanging or unanswered. All-in-all, this is not a good book. I drags on and on. It is too long without the substance to back it up. I have read other novels by this author and was very disappointed in this book.

A father tormenting his wife by keeping a baby from his Mom?

I just couldn't get into a supposed love story based on intentional torment of his wife by keeping a baby he knows his wife protected, though it was painful, it may have saved his life. This story could have been written so that the blame was on another in the syndicate, but the author chose to have a man who supposedly loved his wife and wants a future with her yet he intentionally keeps the baby he also "loves" away from the one person who he knows as his Mom. I couldn't stomach that and literally wanted the baby's father to lose his rights! The story made me sick.

Christine finds herself with a syndicate man, not setting out to do anything like it, but Thane is hard to resist. When he claimes her as his wife and brings her home though, she realizes she has to make a choice, and not just for herself but the life growing inside her.
What will Thane do when/if he finds her again, and could Christine ever get used to the life with a syndicate man?
Contemporary romance, action, suspense and smutty fluff in a great combo. Love them Bad Boys =)

This book isn't the first book that I've read by Vanessa Waltz but it sometimes has that same wash, rinse, repeat feel to it. There was an alpha, lots of sexy times, some betrayal, then a few lies, throw in a murder or 2 and we're done. It definitely wasn't a bad read, but it was a bit confusing in some parts & I found the ending was wrapped up Pretty quickly considering everything that happened. I'd still read more by the author but it wouldn't be something i'd rush to do.

Let me just say up front I hate the heroes name. Thane??? Really? Anyway he was kind of an ass to the heroine but grew on me. He's part of a mob like organization and she ends up pregnant. She doesn't want her child raised around his lifestyle so she runs and keeps her pregnancy secret. I love the suprise babies! This book is a pretty interesting read once the hero and heroine grow up. There is a psycho, murder mysteries, kidnapping and just all around craziness. Thane is also very alpha male, sometimes an asshole but in the end lovable.

Hopefully I convey everything I need to in this review. Unlike some of the other reviewers who gave low ratings, I read the entire book. I never once built a connection to any of the characters. Apparently Thane and Christine dated for a while before he forced her into this marriage. You just have to take their word for it. Somehow she fell for him in this short time leading her to marry him even though she didn't want to marry him. At one point she said "he forced me but he didn't force me." Ok, girl. *side eye* She leaves on the wedding night knowing that she's pregnant and unable to support herself or a baby. Somehow she manages for two years, despite worrying about paying rent the night she met Thane. Speaking of Thane, the only person he shows emotion to is the baby. If he doesn't show emotion to Christine, why would I root for them to be together? Thane was an icicle and Christine was a weak heroine. Thane wasn't going to rape her, but she always gave in to having sex with him. She went from panic to acceptance in two seconds. It happened many times. The entire idea of the syndicate was strange to me and not very much explained. That and all of the major conflict was really ridiculous. I need to drop a medium spoiler moment here. I can't figure out why Violet (I think that was her name anyway) fixated so much on Thane and Christine's son and none of the other children in her care. As quickly as she devolved, I can't imagine no one else knew about her. Perhaps they're able to hid things, but she role in the story seemed to convenient when added to other things that were convenient. I could probably go on, but this really just got to be too much.

AN ADRENALINE RUSH OF THRILLS, CHILLS, AND HEARTSTOPPING MAFIA ROMANCE!

"I'm making you my wife."

I absolutely loved HIS SECRET BABY by Vanessa Waltz! This gripping second installment in the Bad Boy Empire series is a hyper sexy, edge of your seat mafia romance that has your pulse pounding and your heart racing as you breathlessly turn the pages, desperate to discover what decadently delicious twist lurks around each corner!

The books opens with our hero, Thane Blackthorn, an "offensively hot," high ranking member of the Black Dragon crime syndicate family, striding into a seedy bar to do a run of the run of the mill shakedown .

"I’ve got this city by the balls. Nothing talks louder than old money and power, and I’ve got both. Men hand over their girlfriends when they find out that I’m a Blackthorn."

When the bartender/owner can't--or won't-- pay up, Thane accepts reimbursement in the form of a beautiful, down in her luck waitress, Christine. For reasons unbeknownst to anyone but himself, he instantly knows she is "the one."

Smoldering sparks fly, but when the desperately destitute platinum blonde dares to cross him, she finds herself at the darkly gorgeous mobster's mercy. As "penance," he ravishes her…thoroughly...until she is moaning in ecstasy!

But while she was only looking for a wild night of hot, sweaty sex to lift her spirits after being unceremoniously dumped for being “too bland” by her long-term boyfriend, Thane has an entirely different agenda. Marriage and kids.

Christine soon learns she is in way over her head with the sexy as sin mafia man. Barely two months after they embark on a torrid love affair, Thane drags his beloved to a ghastly gothic chapel in the Black Dragon crime syndicate compound, and she is forced to wed the mobster in a creepy ritualistic ceremony that entails offering blood oaths to "uphold the tenants" of the Dragons. But she has no intention of honoring those “sacred” promises because she recently discovered she’s pregnant with his baby. The last thing she wants is to raise a child in Thane's dark, sinister, dangerous world and flees into the night after they passionately consummate the marriage.

After hiding out for two years and living practically destitute with a baby boy to care for, her worst fears are realized when Thane finally gets her back in his menacing clutches. He is determined to make her pay—bigtime--for her unforgivable betrayal. But all bets are off when he discovers baby Daniel ensconced in his arms.

"While I was searching for the woman I made a sacred vow to for two years, she was keeping my son away from me."

Equals parts enraged and elated to discover he sired a child, he decides his wayward wife will atone with her body, night after night, without protection because he covets more babies. Although their scorching hot chemistry cannot be denied, playing the role of dutiful, obedient wife is not in Christine’s DNA. She fights him tooth and nail to protect her heart, and shield her son, but the stakes are even higher because much has changed in organization in her absence.

There has been a major uprising, and the ensuing bloodbath left Thane stripped of his power and the last Blackthorn man standing. Silas (hero of Bad Boy's Bride) is now at the helm of the Black Dragon and Thane is desperate to avenge his family, "put this place back together, piece by piece" and continue the family lineage by putting more babies in his beautiful, traitorous wife's belly.

But can he ever trust Christine again, and keep his loved ones from getting caught in the crossfire of a brutal reign of terror that threatens to engulf then all?

Vanessa Waltz is at the top of her game with this mind-blowing mafia saga! For starters, let me count the ways I adore Thane. He is tall, dark, commanding mobster who's bound by a legacy of honor and duty. And beneath his aura of formidable power, he is smolderingly sexy, and exquisitely gentle and tender. The scenes where he dotes on his son had my heart melting and that endearing tenderness extended to his wife too. That is when he wasn't banging her brains out in some mighty steamy love scenes that left this reader in dire need of a cold shower!

Thane is a tortured soul, a man desperate to hold onto his loved ones, especially after all he has suffered and lost! Haunted by his father and brother deaths, he is bound and determined to reclaim his lost honor and safeguard his wife and child...or die trying.

Christine is an equally fierce heroine who has zero intention of submitting to the syndicate's bizarre customs and ancient traditions, or bending to her infuriatingly bossy husband's will. But as their mutual anger and hostility begins to thaw, she sees Thane's raw, aching grief beneath the surface and recognizes goodness in him... As a loyal, ultra-protective husband capable of infinite kindness. A ravenous lover who will satiate her every desire. And an amazing father to their precious baby boy. Perhaps being his wife isn't so deplorable after all. But there is danger in their ranks and it brings out the ferocious lioness in her. Christine will claw anyone's eyes out who tries to stake a claim on what's hers--namely her husband and baby!

What unfolds is a passionate, emotionally intense tale chock full of shocking twists and turns and heart stopping suspense! There is a deep undercurrent of love between the hero and heroine, especially when we learn Thane and Christine share a surprisingly poignant connection linked to their childhood. A plot development that truly resonates.

Throw in oodles of delicious dramatic tension--a murder mystery to be solved with a deranged, bloodthirsty killer in their midst, subterfuge, backstabbing, betrayal, a psychotic mob widow with an unhealthy fixation on Christine husband, and lots of blazing hot sex and chilling suspense, and you have a fast paced, adrenaline-pumping story that inflames our hearts!

This book is in tip top shape. My only minor quibble was that there were a couple of jarring time jumps that flashed forward and back in time, and that caught me off guard, but other than that, the plot flowed seamlessly and ended in a highly explosive manner!

Bottom line...HIS SECRET BABY is a thrilling read for fans of erotic mafia romance, and Vanessa Waltz is master at spinning a riveting tale that left me spellbound!

WTH.

The characters in this book make no logical decisions. I think the author was trying to go for a destiny/meant to be kind of thing where even their own responses and reactions were out of their control for each other, but I really didn’t feel the desire between them. Most of their initial relationship was off page and so it only really picks up after the baby reveal and everything after that pretty much disgusted me.

They didn’t trust each other, they didn’t like each other, but when you use a baby to hurt, control or punish the mother that’s when I’m done. This whole story was a mess of crazy with very little engagement except for s e x. The two year old was written like an infant, and nearly all the side characters were pointless, I’m not even sure why the author even bothers to write extra people into her stories because they never serve any point. You might as well just mention them but never given them any presences. Which more often than not is exactly what the author does.

Anyway, I can’t say I liked this book. The MC’s weren’t all that interesting. I only kept reading because I wanted to see how it ended. I did have to fight the urge to just skip to the end though, and that’s never a sign of a good book. Oh well.

AN ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL FANTASTIC BOOK!!!!

OMG!!!! All I can say is I want to know if Vanessa Waltz had insiders inside the Black Dragons!!! This book nearly did me in. It literally pulled me into the story and I was feeling all the emotions that were going on in it. I laughed, I cried, I cringed, I wanted to KILL, and I really wanted to beat the crap of Thane for treating Christine like a criminal and not like he should have (as the woman he loved and the mother of his child). plus there is another character I was glad got their just rewards in the end. Trust me once you start this book you will not put it down. You will keep wanting to jump in the book and go to war!!!! I really do not think a piddly 5 stars is a just reward for such a heart wrenching and killer book. I actually think this book deserves a best sellers award and 100 stars or more. I definitely recommend this book to mature readers because of the sex, violence, and crimes.

Thane Blackthorn is a member of the syndicate "The Black Dragons" and they are considered dangerous and you didn't want to stay around when they were present. Thane is the son of the leader of the Black Dragons and he is taking care of business for his father when he sees Christine and then he remembers her form his childhood as a little girl in the part that was nice to him. He couldn't believe he was actually seeing her again, and he had to have her! After punishing her for stealing money from him he knows that he has to have her and one night with her was not enough. He wanted her so bad that he tricked her to the alter of the Black Dragons and forced her to marry him. He wanted her and wanted a family with her. Thinking she would give in and adjust to the new life style she would have as the wife of a Black Dragon.

Christine was working in a shitty bar and trying to live on low wages and sorry tips. She was trying to get over the low life boy friend that dumped her for another woman telling Christine that was just too "bland." After a run in with Thane Blackthorn a member of the syndicate and Black Dragon too boot her life is never the same after that. What she thought was just a one time punishment of sex for stealing his money turned out to be months is shear sex and lust. Then the inevitable happens and Christine winds up pregnant. Before she can tell him she is pregnant he drags her into a marriage that she wasn't ready for and then decides she would never let her child grow up in the dangerous environment of the Black Dragons. So when Thane falls asleep she leaves him and hides.

After two years of running and hiding with her son, Thane finds them. He drags her back to the compound with the determination to make her his wife again and raise the son she kept from him. He also intended to have more kids with her. Christine didn't want to be in the dangerous place and she knew that she had no choice and she had to protect her son at all costs.

With Danger lurking all around will Thane be able to protect her and their son? Will Christine come out of this alive? Will she be able to be the wife he wants?

No spoilers. This is a must read. Get your copy today you surely do not want to miss out on this BAD BOY book!!! ARC free book given in exchange for a honest review.

Sorry it took me too long to post a review, but I have been extremely busy and didn't have time 'til now.

So far I have read all of Vanessa Waltz books, because she is one of my favorite Authors, and I can honestly say I always look forward to her work.
So far my favorite books have been the crime family books, and out of the Bad Boy Empire books I have liked book 2 the most, yet I still lacks something, I don't know what it is. I think I just got so use to the intensity of her previous work that this collection doesn't quite do it for me. The way the events happened in this book makes me feel like something was missing in between, but I did love how she turn things around this time and made a women the villain.
We usually read about men being the bad guys, but in this case an innocent looking women was actually the deadliest menace prancing around and no one suspected of her with the exception of Christine whom got a funny feeling about her from the beginning.

I did dislike Christine's attitude. At times she was strong , but then she would let Thane step all over her. Another thing that didn't sit well with me was the fact that supposedly Thane was so hurt she hid her pregnancy and took his son away from him, but then when he gets her back, he immediately decides to separate her most of the time from her child, but not only that as soon as he gets her back in to the syndicate which was the same day he found her and was supposedly angry at her from hiding his kid he had the need to fuck her. Ok a sane person who was truly mad would care more for his child and less about fucking, but that's just my opinion. Another thing that aggravated me was that If there was so much security placed on her why wasn't she allowed to be alone with her child or care for him directly, why place the child with strangers he didn't liked and didn't feel quite comfortable with. I guess there were too many things that didn't quite add up so it made it a little bit difficult to process.

I guess I'll just have to wait for Mrs. Waltz next book and see if it could cause a better impression on me. I would love to rate this book higher, but to me it lack a bit more of creativity that I know she posses, I felt like this book was written with such hurry and determination to get it done before a set time frame.

I received this for a honest review. I have read several of Vanessa Waltz’s books and she never disappoints. She always knows what to give her readers what the crave. This book has so much in it; there is crime, passion, hate, jealous, love, and let’s say she took “The hands that rock the cradle” to a whole new level.

I cannot imagine what it was like for Christine that night when she was working in the bar and met Thane Blackthorn. I guess from that point her life had changed. He was hot, sexy, and very dangerous. She probably should of feared him more than she did. What she did their first night they met was stupid. She knew he was a Black Dragon and yet she played with fire. What she did would of got anyone else killed.

Thane Blackthorn was raised to be a syndicate man. His name alone brought fear to the ones around him. He loved his booze and his women but now he wanted more. He wanted to find a wife. When he saw Christine he knew he had to have her.

I cannot imagine being taken out on a date to end up married to the man you barely knew. Christine knew she was pregnant and did not want her child raised in this dangerous place. She wanted better for her child even if it meant leaving the man she was falling for.

I loved how Thane tricked her into coming out of hiding. I am surprised it took him two years to come up with that plan. I cannot imagine the look on Thane’s face when he saw he had a child. The emotion he felt; betrayal, hurt, joy, and hatred all rolled into one. Getting his wife and child back is just a small milestone. There is so much danger up head that he could not imagined.

Christine is going to be tried. She will have to win back Thane’s trust. She has some dangerous battles ahead of her. Sorry not going to tell you what they are, but I will say it is one amazing story. Christine and Thane will go through the fire. Their marriage, trust, and love will be tested. Truths will come out and they will have to stand and fight for what they truly want.

Wow I was not prepared for the intensity of this story. It kept me on the edge of my seat gripping my kindle and so tensed up my knuckles hurt. I'm not sure if it's because you know societies like these exists but never really thought about how the inner families are treated or the raw intensity of the sexual power and sheer dominance one person has over the other. The author writes the sexual scenes and body of the story with such passion that you can not be affected by it.

A young girl, a young boy, stranger's, just playing as friends in a park. Neither knowing that they will meet again in 15 years.

Thane is part of an brotherhood as old as time, picture the mafia tho they are more than that. They are The Black Dragon's, The Syndicate, more deadly , operating underground, a whole different type of life unbeknownst to most. When inner turmoil has consequences, Thane must choose between what he thinks is true or what his wife believes is so.

Christine works 2 jobs to make end meets every since her boyfriend left her. Never did she think going into work one night would change her whole life, and not necessarily for the better. Enters Thane, tall dark and dangerous looking. A misguided conversation will become a nightmare where not only 2 lives hang in the balance but 3. A child's. A life Christine doesn't want for her son. She will run after a blood ritual marriage ceremony to Thane, only to be hunted down and returned 2 years later. What will happen now that Thane has her back? Is Thane who she should worry about or is their someone else who is more dangerous after her?

Nerve wracking intensity, raw and powerful. A must-read for anyone who wants to be blown away, but bear in mind this book is not for the faint of heart. Mature readers 18+.

Long lost childhood friends reunite after 15 years!
Thats what happens with Christine and Thane.
Imagine working in a sleazy ol bar as a waitress and thats only 1 of the 2 jobs you have to pay your overpriced apartment, after your boyfriend who called you boring left you two weeks ago...
Now all you have is two jobs until someone from the Synidict comes and offers you a deal that you cant refuse. You date him and go out with him and be his and you'll never have to worry about a thing again. Everything goes well until two months later and he wants to MARRY YOU! Do you stay with him and fit into the no good for nothing Synidict or do you run after the ceremony because of course just that morning you find out your PREGNANT. Yup thats what happens to poor ol Christine. And Thane doesn't know until much much much later.....
So what do i think about the book?! Well. i loved it! The events are pretty shocking. The details that goes into everything is truly amazing. You get to know all the characters and you love some and others you hate with a passion from the get go.
There are sometimes you'll be like oooh i love her. and then others it'll be like 'Thane you better get that itch.' Yup. There are some you dont like from the beginning.
What shocked me the most is that Silas is brought up again in this book and at first i didnt like him but at the end i loved him. So it kinda confused me some but then i had to go about the first book again and reevaluate some incidents that happens in there.
I loved how they intertwined together. And i'm really looking forward toward the next book!
I received a copy of the book for my honest review!

His Secret Baby
3 stars

I bought this book mainly because of the title. I love books with babies and strong heroes and Heroines which this book has in spades but unfortunately it fell short from being the five star read that I had hoped for. Thane isn't a good man, he works for what's called the syndicate which is basically the mob and his family is pretty high up. The instant he see's Christine he know that she's the one. He will have her, marry her and she will have his babies. Yep, that's the way that he saw her. While there isn't really any rape so to speak in this book, there is a lot of forced sex. Yes Christine ends up begging for it and always gives in but I myself didn't enjoy it. Normally I can get past it but the fact that he forces marriage on her knowing where he lives and the fact that it could put her in danger, I couldn't get past that. When you add in the fact that he drags her and his son back when he finally found her after she ran away, knowing the violence that his life entails, well I really couldn't get past that. There were good parts to the book and quite a bit mystery suspense when you add in the mob and a crazy lady but there were just too many other parts that didn't make sense. One other thing is that the story seemed to end abruptly to me. I mean we were in the middle of what seemed like WWlll and all of the sudden all if right in the world and at 40% of the book... I just didn't get it. I am giving it three stars because of the action and suspense that took place towards the last part of the book that had me on the edge of my seat but if it weren't for that, I would have given it two.

This was a well-written, enthralling and totally absorbing story, which was a pleasure to read. Visits to the park were the only times of his life Thane could still look back on and feel joy, they were the happiest times of his life, but wonders what might have been. Thane never forgot the girl he used to play with and thought he would never see her again, that is until 15-years later when he goes into a dive bar and finds her working there. Running into Christine in this city was a chance in a million and Thane didn’t believe in accidents; she is the one for him, and he will make her his wife - they were meant to be together. Once Christine is married, she realises she cannot bring her child up in the Syndicate and spends 2-years moving from place to place knowing all the time Thane would be looking for her. A massacre at the Syndicate and a fake funeral draws Christine and her son, Daniel, out and back to life at the Syndicate. Thane tries to think of the girl at the park, the girl he fell for all those years ago, but all he sees is the woman who stole his son. New changes have taken place in the hierarchy and Thane is no longer a privileged member, while Christine has to regain his trust. Someone has obsessive designs on both Daniel and Thane, while Christine finds herself ostracized and her life threatened. This was an extremely interesting story with lots of twists and turns that made it an exciting read and I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending it. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Just finishing this book, I actually feel the same way I felt after watching the movie Gone Girl! Wow!!

The characters were well developed and so enjoyable! I couldn't decide whether I wanted to punch Thane in the throat, or shove my tongue in it! I love that kind of at odds feeling, because it makes the character more believable for me. The pace of the book was awesome - I didn't want to groan or pull my hair out while skipping paragraphs because of word diarrhea. Seems to be an epidemic lately! None of that here. I stuck to every word as I read through the book, every single word was worth it. I'm loving the continuation of the Syndicate world. Silas fluttered in and out all over the book, and Fawn even had a cameo (For those that read Hitman's Bride. If you haven't, that's alright. It's not necessary before jumping into this book, but it will make the experience so much more delightful.) There's a thriller element added to the plot as we try to figure out 'who done it', which made everything that much more exciting! And the way it all comes to a head - W.O.W!

I can't think of anywhere that the book faltered. Solid plot, great story execution, relatable characters. Vanessa just keeps on delivering the goods!! Two thumbs up and a fist pump!
