Brett James makes irrationally large art installations that he has installed in New York, San Francisco, Amsterdam, England, and Croatia. He has written and directed six films and been honored at a dozen festivals. He was raised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
James hand-makes (most of) the paperback versions of his own books.
Smart short story, gracefully written, with quite a kick. My favorite kind of Science Fiction; glad to see someone's still writing 'em like this. The author gifted me with a nice little chapbook paperback edition, which I recommend if you can find a copy, but otherwise read it online for sure. I absolutely will read more by the author.
This review entirely voluntary and entirely my own honest opinion. The author did not even ask for a review, and is not personally known to me.
A little book with a powerful punch! I loved the premise and the characters were simultaneously strong and endearing. As others have said it is difficult to review without a spoiler alert. I will let the author describe for you and just say I loved the twist at the end. A good read!
I enjoyed this short story. I don't really know what to say without giving much away. Let's just say its an interesting take on world building. I look forward to reading other stories by Brett James.
I received a free copy from entering the goodreads giveaways. Thank you! This was a great little short story. Take a journey with the world builder and his quest for more.
I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. It is a very small and short book. I'm not that big a fan of short stories. They always leave me wanting more. But if you enjoy quick reads, this is for you.
