An action/horror/adventure tale by Graham Nolan and Chuck Dixon! Young Joe Pratt discovers, upon meeting the monster of his ancestor, that he is the heir to the Frankenstein name...a legacy that may get him killed if the creatures of the night have their way!
Graham Nolan is a veteran comic book writer, artist, and publisher and the recipient of the prestigious Inkpot Award for his contributions to the comic arts. He is the co-creator of the iconic Batman villain, "Bane", the creator of "Joe Frankenstein", "Monster Island", The Chenoo", "Sunshine State" and now, "Alien Alamo".
JOE FRANKENSTEIN – Nolan Endless extrapolation on the Frankenstein monster concept. Prologue: “From the pieces of other men I was assembled.” #1 – “And that makes you Frankenstein’s MONSTER?” – Joe “I prefer ‘creation’.” #2 – “Good. Fear will keep you alive.” #3 – “It’s said that man is born with original sin. But what of a man that was NEVER born?” #4 – Vampires, werewolf, mad scientist, femme fatale
Two of my favourite comic creators - writer Chuck Dixon and artist/writer Graham Nolan - team up to deliver two-fisted monster action. This is a great series and I really hope there is more to come.
Super fun and an easy read. Nolan thoroughly lays out the history of Joe Frankenstein and why he is helping the heir if his creator centuries later. It is a fun loose adventure. I only wish that Nolan had more tales to tell in this series.
The best thing about this is Graham Nolan's art. He and Dixon were obviously going for a Hellboy type of vibe, but is simultaneously not dark enough, or funny enough. Stuff happens, whilst the stakes never feel high enough... Nice nod to Cerebro tho'...
