A writer, a foodie, a gardener, a dog lover and addicted to travel. Also a cynic, which means underneath it all, I'm a romantic still hoping for HEAs.
I've been married forever to the hero of my own real life romance and I alternate between adoration and irritation.

This 8th book in the amazing St. Barts series takes us a bit into the future. Sven & Sunny’s kids are already 12 and 10 years old. They still live happily in Venice, California. Sven just got a new job as the lead in a new TV show, hoping to work that for a few years to be able to stay in California while the kids go to school.
Also living with them a lot of the time, is Charlie, the grandson of Sven’s british actor buddy.
And Sven’s son Liam is already a famous actor himself.
After something really devastating happens we fast forward another few years ....
Sunny & Sven’s daughter Bliss is now living and working as a soon-to-be-chef in London.
And after something bad happens to her, she seeks comfort and protection from Charlie. The guy she used to love as a kid, but who then hurt her so bad when she was only 17.
Only Charlie has no idea he did something wrong back then....

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE O’HARA / LARSEN CLAN?
WILL THEY ALL SURVIVE THIS LAST BOOK?

OY JEEZ POTATO!!!!!!!!

What an utterly amazing book!

I’ve loved Sven & Sunny’s story from the very first line of the very first book....
And now that I’ve followed them through all those years and catastrophes and happy moments.... I am really sad they’re leaving me soon.
I cried soooooo effing much while reading....

description

Even without any deaths in the book I would’ve cried all through it.... the way it the story takes one heartbreaking turn after another, I just had to rent a boat for my living room. I would’ve drowned in my tears otherwise! ☺

I loved or rather hated every single page of this book!
All the characters and locations and happy and sad moments .... just brilliant!

I think this book was my favorite of them all.

LOST was the most perfect 8th book in an amazingly beautiful series! If you haven’t already, one-click yourselves to those 8 wonderful #StBarts books and escape into some very sunny & adorable & sexy & heartbreaking & frustrating & deeply emotional reading hours!

I don´t know how to start this review. This book is a really difficult one for a nice and proper review, as it is almost impossible to write one without spoilers. And just with this sentence I get the feeling that I´ve revealed to much as I suppose that everybody can have a guess about the indicated loss if it is so central to the story. On the other hand: Would you name a book "Lost" if it refers only to an errand cat? No. So, it´s your decision to keep on reading. But just in case you decide not to do so, notice at least this:

This is the best book in the St.Barts-series apart from the first one. Read it.

About the Book (in terms of "what´s the story" - as spoiler free as possible):
Sunny and Sven have been married for 13 years and life has been going on. The kids are growing, Sven has his career, Sunny keeps family and friends together. And then "Lost" moves the focus of the story away from Sunny and Sven and turns towards the next generation. The couple has built up a big patchwork family of kids, step kids and friends´ kids and these have meanwhile lives of their own. And somehow the initially nice and breezy love story between two people has developed into a nice and fun to read love story plus family saga.

Cool Move.

Which leads to About the Book (in terms of "About the Author´s Style"):
To be clear right from the start and I suppose I´ve said that before: I like Emme´s style. Now you could probably say "very nice, but why?". - Let me explain.
I´ve studied communications and earned food and flat working for a publishing house. So, "books" is my second name. I´ve read them all: Goethe, Hesse, Mann (I´m German, just in case you haven´t noticed, :)), Maupassant, Fitzgerald - you name it. And I think it´s important to do so. It gives you a frame for your brain. And it made me appreciate well written literature.
Today I have three kids, two jobs and a household and my reading time is obviously more than limited. Which defines my expectations towards a book. I don´t want hard, dry bread - not even if it´s brilliantly written. I don´t want to have to bite my way in three pages steps through a book. I don´t want to force myself to finish at least another chapter before leaden fatigue .... No! I want an escape, a holiday, a journey! I want a book that keeps me awake at night against better knowledge. That makes me snuggle up on my sofa at half past 9 in the morning although it´s clear that the rest of the day will come crushing down on me. I want to enjoy a book.
And Emme Cross offers all this. She´s a clever writer, she has a good plot, and - very important - her characters and her story are stringent, consequent. If there´s anything negative to say about this book, it would be: It´s to short! I had just started when I was already finished, too. I think I like the idea of another collection (like book 1-4).

LOST (St. Barts Romance Series Book 8)  EMME CROSS

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: Romance.

Emme said “Jeannie this book will make you cry” and she was right – I did. It was perfect however, a fitting ending to the saga of Sunny and Sven and their family.

We've fast forwarded a few years and the kids are growing up. Its not all fun, Bliss is, as often happens with teen girls, at loggerheads with her mum, and Lennon, well he's become an adorable 11 year old, a real people pleaser. And then something huge happens, a real shock but that brings drama to what could have been just a mundane follow up read.
Thats one of the reasons I'm wary of series that go into multiple books, they get stale, run out of things to happen. After all there are only so many things that can happen in one family and still remain believable. I was thinking of a once favourite series where one character gets abducted and raped for the third time, and it made me roll my eyes, spoil what had been til then a terrific read. Emme has done the right thing here IMO wrapping up the series – well, Sven and Sunny's part of it – and its made it a perfect finale.
The Event brings about some major changes to all the family, and they learn to adapt but of course have intense feelings about what happened that shape their ways forward. Each cope in different ways and we jump forward again a few years.

This final part really focusses on Bliss, and her career, her efforts to make it as a chef. She runs into some tragedy though that brings her back into the circuit of Charlie, her childhood crush, but who unwittingly broke her heart. Now they start anew and find they become very close, and its a brilliant way to close Bliss' childhood with a perfect ending. I love Charlie, we've seen him grow up from that distant ten year old, to a young man thats so close to Sunny and Sven and been treated as part of the family. Thats what Sunny excells at – making people feel welcome, making them part of the group and feel at home with them. No one gets left on the outside, she makes a place for all – except Evangeline of course!!
I think – am hoping – that there's going to be a book about Lennon and for me that will close the circle of Sunny and Sven's life.
Its been a wonderful read, and one of those series to indulge in a fabulous reread of all the novels in a back to back romance and tear fest.

Stars: Five, another fresh, drama filled read.

Sven was now forty seven and working on a tv series. Sunny's and Sven’s daughter Bliss was now twelve and Lennon was ten. Bliss was into horse riding and was going to be in the background of some scenes riding her horse. The series was doing really well and already picked up for another full season. Sir Henry who had been both Sven’s and Sunny’s friend had a grandson who considered Sunny like the mother he had never had and loved her family as her own he often stayed in their home with the family. Then there was an accident one day when sunny was alone at home and Sven came home and found Sunny dead. The whole family went into shock and mourning and changed overnight.
This was such a sad story or the part about Sunny’s death was she became real to me as did her family. It did have some beautiful parts as the kids started to heal especially Bliss. Sven had been celibate for several years and dreamed of Sunny often the he fell into a friend with benefits arrangement. I really loved this story and smiled at times and tears rolled down my cheeks. The characters were excellent as always as was the story telling. I highly recommend. Anyone who hasn’t read this series I highly recommend you start with the first book.
I received an ARC of this story for an honest review

I don't know what to think about it, yet. On one hand I liked it, it was well written. On the other hand I hated what was written sometimes. I don't know. I need time to process.
