**A Terrifying Short Story from Author Bryan W. Alaspa**
Mark Peterson is a famous lecturer, author and skeptic. He believes that the universe is what you see. His brother, however, has gone the opposite direction, becoming famous for his adventures with the paranormal. They are worlds apart, but when Mark's brother is found catatonic on a Chicago street outside a building with a shady past, he wonders what went wrong.
Inside his brother's pocket the rules for a game: The Elevator Game. A game that will supposedly unlock a gate into an alternate reality. Nonsense, of course...right?
I was born in the fine year of 1971 in Park Ridge, IL. I am a life long Chicago resident and I love the city. I spent a few years in St. Louis, as well. I knew I wanted to write from the time I sat down at my mom's electric typewriter in the 3rd grade. Now I do write. I write freelance and articles for online news sources. I write horror, thrillers and detective novels. I also write non-fiction in true crime and history genres. I publish my fiction myself as an indie publisher and write and have found an audience for my work among ebook fans. I publish for Kindle, Nook and other tablets and devices at Smashwords.com. My non-fiction is usually published in print, but that may soon change as ebooks become more and more of the norm.
This was a very short story and to be honest it was just not to my taste at all. The build-up was o.k. but I found the outcome which was supposed to be the shocking/scary part just missed the mark completely and left me feeling disappointed.
It was interesting to have 2 brothers who believed in the complete opposite to each other when it came to the world and the supernatural but in the end, they succumbed to the same fate.
I wanted to read from Todd's POV. I felt like I barely got to know him.
The pacing was ok but once Mark got into the elevator, it got a lot faster.
The ending was quite sudden and abrupt. I still had questions about certain things so it wasn't a satisfying ending
