Crown of Thorns #2

The Messiah Conspiracy: Book Two

Rate this book
Librarian's Note: This is an alternate cover edition of the Kindle book formerly titled Crown of Thorns (Crown of Thorns, #2), currently titled The Messiah Conspiracy: The Race to Clone Jesus Christ (Book Two) ASIN B007V680Y4 published on December 27, 2013.

Crown of Thorns is a fictional thriller which takes place in the field of genetics and human cloning.

Hugely controversial, you will either love this book or hate it. Some will feel challenged and uncomfortable by the topic it deals with, and others will be drawn into it and unable to put it down... the question is, what will you think?

A young student at Oxford University has an idea for his doctor’s thesis (Ph.D.), which fulfils not only the criteria for ‘originality’, but goes far beyond it. For if Jason Dyke is right, his idea will soon change the world and shift the delicate balance of power from one nation to another.

Jason’s idea is simple: In the genetics laboratory at Oxford University, he will clone Jesus Christ.

But when the CIA finds out about his plan, the President of America realises that if the UK succeeds, the balance of power will shift from the USA to Europe. And he decides that the only way to stop this happening is for America to create its very own clone of Jesus Christ.

The race is on...

Whoever reads this book will never forget it. And they will ask….one of two questions:-

1: Is it really possible?

2: When will it happen?

Ian C.P. Irvine

Ian Irvine was brought up in Scotland, and studied Physics for far too many years, before travelling the world working for high-technology companies. Ian has spent a career helping build the internet and delivering its benefits to users throughout the world,...as well as helping to bring up a family. Ian enjoys writing, painting and composing in his spare time. His particular joy is found in taking scientific fact and creating a thrilling story around it in such a way that readers learn science whilst enjoying the thrill of the ride. It is Ian's hope that everyone who reads an I.C.P.Irvine novel will come away learning something interesting that they would never otherwise have found an interest in. Never Science fiction. Always science fact. With a twist.

The first of Ian's novels is a Genetic Conspiracy Thriller which explores the world of Stem Cell Research and encourages us all to ask some very searching questions about the advances that science is making, and how much we, or others, should let it affect society. A contemporary adventure, "The Orlando File" takes the reader around the world and back, and creates a unique moral dilemma that the reader cannot help but get embroiled in: at the end, the reader must ask themself, what would they do in that situation?

His second novel "The Crown of Thorns" explores the power of genetics, explores the questions that the potential to clone humans will raise, and asks the ultimate question...what would happen if a scientist found a way to clone Jesus Christ?

Ian's third novel "London 2012 : What If?" departs from the world of genetics and explores an interesting possibility that Quantum Physics raises:the possibility for parallel worlds to exist alongside each other...and what would happen if a man who wondered what other types of lives he could be living had he made other choices, where unexpectedly to step from one world into another parallel world. "What If" is also an interesting voyage through human emotions, and many readers will find themselves asking themselves similar questions that the lead character does as they read the book. As with both "The Crown of Thorns" and "The Orlando File", at the end of the book the reader is left thinking...and different readers may take away different views on how the novels did, or should have ended... It is hoped that in this way, the novels will make themselves ideal subjects for reading clubs or book clubs.

Ian hopes that if you honour him by spending the time reading one his novels, that you will find it a positive experience, and enjoy it. He also invites you to email him and let him know if you did or did not enjoy the novel. And if you did, what were your favourite parts?

Happy Reading!

This is the second part of "The Messiah Conspiracy: The Race to Clone Jesus Christ", Jason for his D.Phil tries to clone Son of God from the blood sample obtained from the crown of thorns. The first part of the book ends where the Crown of Thorns was switched by America and both the countries are in race to clone God.

Second part continues with the difficulties faced by both the teams in cloning Jesus. Patrick one of the MI5 agent intervenes the professor and Jason and backs the plan of cloning and assures them that MI5 will be their guardian angel.

As suspected American President Jamieson sends Little Johnny to assassinate the entire team and the rest of the story becomes a thriller, what will happen to IGEGGM team did they really cloned Jesus Christ, did America succeeded in the race, if then what happens to cloned Jesus? all these questions is answered in the end. The book concludes nicely without hurting anybody's sentiments.

God curing Tina (Tim's daughter) from cancer chapter made my eyes glistened, I know this is a story and also I can understand why this particular chapter affected me because I lost my mother to cancer. The words spoken by Jesus to Tina.... Tina, get up from your bed and go downstairs to your mother she is sad and needs you. Tell her not to be sad anymore. Tell her their prayers of love have been answered.

This novel is a page turner, made me to sit and read till mid night. Some of the lines which I like to highlight are:

1. Maybe God made man in his image but man can't make God in man's image.

2. Nature has its own course and you shouldn't tamper with it.

3. God will have created the embryo, not you or I. We are just puppets in His game. Pawns completing the last few moves of an intricate and long and drawn out game of Chess that goes back thousands of years in time.

4. It flew away from them, rising into the blue sky above, a white dove of peace, climbing and climbing until it was far from sight.

I gave my review on both books on book 1, however not to leave this out, I was sorry it had to end at book 2, but sometimes we are best left with a cliffhanger and to use our own imagination with "the rest of the story". These 2 books bring "what if" for us to contemplate, and I believe Mr. Irvine's story would pretty much be the response of such an event. I too look forward to more of his stories. It is wonderful to find a writer who writes for people who need something more cerebral than vampires and love stories.

Seriously begs the question what if we could?

Brilliant fast paced novel written in two parts, has you rooting for the good guys and despising the bad
Would recommend this to lovers of thrillers and supernatural fiction alike as whilst the science in essence does not yet exist with the novel set in the future it does make you think that this could well happen and if there were unscrupulous people in power at this time what would happen to the human race? Is this in fact a likely prediction of things to come!! Scarily possible.....

Not a Goodreads but a GREAT READ

I highly recommend this book. It is truly fascinating and compelling. If you want to read a book that is hard to put down and might keep you awake at night, this is it! Not to mention the fact that everything in it could so easily happen. Very well written. I highly recommend it to anyone. I have read a lot of books and this one stands
out among one of the best!!!

Intriguing

First be warned. This book #2 won't make sense of you haven't read #1, so please do so. Together they are so believably written, yet so unbelievable! It certainly leaves this reader's head spinning.

Meh

I wanted to like this book. I really did. I love the premise, as it's one that my son and I had thought of about 10 years ago. I wish he or I had actually written our idea back then. I think it would have been better than this book.

As I said the idea is good but there is absolutely no character development whatsoever. The author has several books out, so I can't understand why he hasn't learned that.

A story told many times but this one is gets very close to being real.

This book is the best of the authors books I have read. It is full of very interesting science that is taking place in our present world. A good mix of religion and science. But the end leaves you wanting much more from the author. It was a book that would pick back up in the middle of the night to read just a little more. Don't miss this book.

Science Fact or Fiction?

I thoroughly enjoyed the science fiction aspect of the story, the fact being plausible. Always good when the MI5 and CIA are involved. A must read for all who like this genre

I hated to see it end and I really wish there was a book three. This was such a good book that I've recommended it to several people. I'm a believer and I really like the way God was treated and represented in the story..

There's no ending

Book 1 leads into book 2. Book 2 leaves open the possibility of a resolution, but none happens, disappointing non finish.

Hard to put down

This book is the second part of one story contained in two books. It is not a series. If the reader has not read the first book of the two, this second book probably will not be enjoyable. This book begins where the the first book ended. Ian C. P. Irvine has taken what, at this point in time, is not possible and developed it into a very real sounding, plausible story. By not trying to give detailed information on how the genetics work is done but adding just enough, he "hooks" the reader right into the story. Since I do not want to give anything away, I will leave you this. This book is a great story, a!though predictable in many areas (at !east by me). Characters, relationships, plot, etc. are developed to make a great science fiction story that borders extensively on reality. Start reading book one, and then move onto book two to find out the end result.

Too good ends without any clue

The plot and imagination and finally correlating to life of Jesus is commendable, however it's good if a sequel with Christ Vs Antichrist the two clone type facing each other should come up. Because the book still keep me wandering wat happened next after the dead bird came alive in Jesus hand at the climax and wat about the devil growing in America.

What If?

So much is known. So much is unknown. Can man bring about the Second Comings? Or are somethings beyond our grasp. Read this book, it is the answer to a great conversation starter. Take to bible study, play devils advocate. I just love the question and the discussion it starts.

GRIPPING!

Well, two down and one (or maybe more?) to go. Now comes the part I'm not good at.....waiting. This story had me from way back in page 1 of book 1. I can't wait to find out what happens next. BUT.....some better proofreading needs to be done. Tenses and typos need to be more closely monitored!

Messiah Conspiracy Book2

I enjoyed this book as a continuation of the original thesis of a cloned Christ. I enjoyed watching the characters grow some in goodness and then the purest of evil.

Brilliant book

I really enjoyed this book and although quite a few weren’t happy with it being in 2 parts as the 2nd part was only £1.99 I was happy to pay it. I think the way it was left could leave it open for a 3rd book

This book is fantastic

I had to read this book after reading book one. It was difficult to put down as there was always something new happening. The dangers each member of the team encountered were unbelievable. It's a great book..

President of America

Excellent book with a bunch of typos. Keeps referring to the United States President as President of America. I'm pretty sure Mexico and Canada would disagree on that one.
