The Clothes Make the Man is a classic.

So literally sincere it breaks into irony without contrivance (unlike most of Chekhov) as life itself is prone to do at time. All you can do is smile.

Wittgenstein was a big fan of Keller, so I thought I'd read some. I assumed this collection was a sort of greatest hits. The stories were often tales of lovers who are separated and then somehow brought back together. There was nothing special about them--they all had happy endings. I suppose it was like Wittgenstein's love for American movies--a diversion from philosophy, not a source for it. Now I know.
