"Malke, three months a widow, advertises for a man in the personal column of the newspaper.the consequences of that rash act sustain the rest of the novel in hilarious fashion.a significant statement about loneliness, the need to reach out and touch."
A marvellous humorous romantic comedy set with a Jewish background and culture. The classic stereotypical matchmaking mothering busybodies Jewish mamas out in full force. Bess Kaplan is a quiet, unsung author of her time and community.
The humor and general premise of this book kept me going, as it is set in Winnipeg and has a quite entertaining plot. It struck me that it could be a play. I learned a lot of Yiddish!
