FBI Agent, Win Holloway is going home to Kentucky-and not under the best of circumstances. At odds with his family since turning his back on their lucrative and long-standing bourbon empire, the blond haired golden boy carries not only a badge and weapon, but the unwarranted guilt of his mother's death twenty-three years ago. When his father is found murdered in their family estate in an identical fashion, Win is forced to face his family's past and the history of Winter Bourbon while searching for answers to not only his father's death, but his mother's unsolved murder.
Special Agent, Virginia "Ginny" Grace has been called in to investigate what seems to be a high-stakes deal gone wrong. But as she uncovers shocking Winterbourne family secrets, finds herself in the middle of her late father's unsolved case and deep in the lives of the bluebloods of bourbon-including her one-time lover, Win Holloway.
When murder is an inside job, you keep your enemies close, and your family closer.
Kris Calvert is a former copywriter and PR mercenary who after some coaxing, began writing novels. She loves alliteration, pearls and post-it notes. She’s married to the man of her dreams and lives in Lexington, Kentucky. She’s Momma to two grown kids, and is also responsible for one very needy rescue pup. When she’s not writing, she’s baking GF cupcakes.
Sex, Lies and Bourbon is the 5th installment in the Sex and Lies series by Kris Calvert. FBI hotshot Win Holloway is called home to Kentucky after his father is murdered in the family home. Coming along on the trip is agent Ginny Grace, who happens to be Wins ex-girlfriend and the love of his life.
While Ginny works with the local FBI to investigate the murder, Win is trying to unravel his family history and make peace with the hostile feelings he has toward his father, and the resulting issues he had with the legacy of the family business.
As Win and Ginny spend more time together, the harder it is for them to deny their feelings, but it's an uphill battle for Win to convince Ginny that his feelings toward her never changed. Meanwhile, Ginny is finding more twists and turns that she could have thought possible, and a connection between her case and a case her father had more than twenty years prior. She untangling the threads of the case, and trying to learn to trust Win again.
This book was full of surprises. I was just as involved as Ginny, trying to figure out the ins and outs of the crime, all the while rooting for Win and Ginny to work through their differences, and the ending had me on the edge of my seat.
I love this series. I cannot get enough of these characters. Kris writes with emotion. She creates characters I fall in love with and want to spend time with.
modern gothic. easy to see who the killer is. both of them. great characters...lots of passion, obfuscation, hidden facts, a cover up of the very first murder...ends somewhat happily.
Welcome to Kentucky, Bourbon Country, and the Bluegrass. Ah, home, I love reading KY authors, especially when they set their stories in our beautiful and unpredictable state. This is the fifth book in the Moonlight & Magnolia series and is currently my favorite. However, it’s been awhile since I’ve read the first couple of books so if I revisited them I may change my mind. As the series has continued, each book has become a bit more refined in writing style and the mystery and intrigue have increased. So far, this one is the most intriguing, with more twists and turns along the way.
There’s something strange going on in Valley Springs, KY. More specifically, there’s something strange going on at Winter Haven distillery. And it’s been going on for decades. Finally, there’s been a death that is drawing in the feds to investigate and Ginny Grace has been appointed the SAC on the case. This means that Ginny will be investigating Win’s family. Win. A fellow FBI agent. The guy who broke her heart, smashed it into tiny pieces, a year ago. This could get sticky…..
As information and details unfold, you’ll be taken deep into the secrets of Winter Haven and the legacy that encompasses the Winbourne-Halloway families. Can the secrets be exposed without destroying the family’s legacy and everything or everyone who holds them? Dive into this light mystery to find out!

Kris does not disappoint with this addition to the Sex and Lies series. Win was introduced in book 4 and in book 5 we learn his story. Agent Grace gives him a serious run for his money when their worlds collide in this thrilling who done it!
This book was so unexpected. I had to keep reading/listening. Even still, I couldn’t put all the pieces together until just shortly before the author made it known. I can’t wait for the next book. Highly recommend the series.
Kris does it again. Sleepless nights but worth every moment. You will not be able to put this book down. It will keep you guessing until the end. Love love love this series.
I can't get enough of Kris Calvert's books in this series...she spins a great story with believable characters and situations with just enough of a twist to keep one guessing. Highly recommend.
This series just keeps getting better with every book. The tangled web in this story held my interest from the start. Kris Calvert is a brilliant story teller and I look forward to the next book in the series.
Dead bodies are accumulating and no leads to who the killer is. Ginny is sent home to Kentucky with Win to find out who the killer is and to settle the case. Will Ginny and Win find their happily ever after and the killer?
Handsome man and beautiful woman, lots of money family secrets. Who could ask for anything more. Just leaves you feeling happy.. All in all a delightful read.
Another good story in the series. However, there is quite a bit of grammar mistakes, punctuation errors and a few wrong words throughout the series. All are starting to get to me.
