Sometime toward the end of Leo Thomas’ junior year, the tiny college town of Epshire became home to four axe murderers, two of them serial killers. No one could say why, exactly. And no one could make the killing stop.
Sever is a coming-of-age novella wrapped in a horror story wrapped in a love letter to college, a time when you’re supposed to be invincible, a time when you’re not supposed to be able to die.
I write all sorts of thrillers - police procedurals, occult horror and absurdist noir. Where to start?
If you're into tricky mysteries without too much violence, give the Owl and Raccoon detective series a try. If you'd prefer to dive into something darker, try Sever and Camille. These two books together tell a nostalgic story full of witchcraft and serial killers. Mary Monster is my most challenging book, a stylized, literary take on gothic noir.
This was a free Kindle download for me. I got a lot more than what I paid to be honest. This is a respectable college horror story. I think it could have used more character detail, but I assume the author was trying to keep it short. It was a quick and good read. Most importantly, I would be interested in reading more by the author. I would say this is definitely a 3.5 horror story as I think it is better than 3 (average.)
This author has convinced me. The bogeyman exists. Monsters are real. Tonight I’m sleeping with the lights on. Nope. Decided I’m not going to sleep at all. Creepy. Very creepy.
I read this book in one day. Very quick read. The book had murder, witchcraft, college life, romance and humor. It kind of reminded me of another version of Scary Movie.
