In Part 2 of Falling Fire, Quinn and Rogan long to discover what their hearts truly desire by both allowing a single kiss outside of their engagement. But with the ever-watching eyes of the public and confusing feelings growing between them, their plan soon gets out of control as jealousy, rebellion and lust cloud their judgement…

I received a free copy of this book directly from the Author Ms. Caroline Peckham. Thank you so much Caroline, this is my review.
I absolutely adored part two of this novella. Quinn and Rogan are two of my favourite characters. I love seeing them be more themselves and really trying to figure out what they both want. I know whom I want Quinn to end up with; so seeing her origins pre the first novel is really exciting.
I love her friendship with Larkin. It's strained and weird but it works for them; because he's honest with her always. He is so sarcastic and just Larkin.
I love these characters and I adore this world. I can't wait for the final installment in this series. I need to know what is going to happen to my favourite people. I hope these characters get a happily ever after!
Today We Did This novella picks up where Falling Fire (Part One) left off. Rogan and Quinn have always been expected to marry, so they have never had the opportunity to date other people or even to explore how they feel about each other. They both have reservations about their relationship, so they make a deal to kiss some one else to see how it feels. Due to their fame the whole deal must remain a secret, but will the people they choose to kiss see it the same way?
More from the wonderful world of Aleva with all its magic, I love falling into this world. This is a captivating novella that I read in one sitting. At the end, I immediately wished for more! The plot is quick with good detail. Overall these two novellas are very entertaining.
All the characters are interesting and complex. I’m back to being annoyed with Quinn, she’s far too self-centred and selfish. She acts like Rogan isn’t in the same situation that she is, but she doesn’t talk to him about it, she slinks off to Larkin, who she barely knows. Larkin is so vain, so annoying, so jerkish, ooo I just want to slap him! I can’t see why Quinn would want to be friends with him, let alone kiss him. And then he goes and does something noble. I still don’t like him, but at least now I know he has a human side.
I enjoyed Rogan’s defence class, and his interaction with Katrina. Making fire balls into the shape of animals is amazing. I liked that Katrina wasn’t fawning all over Rogan too.
Lovers of fantasy and young adult novels should love this! Read this wonderful novella after Falling Fire (Part One) and then check out the other books in The Rise of Isaac series, they are well worth your time. It is suitable for high school students and up.
*I received this advanced reading copy as a digital version from the author, who asked me for an honest review of this book. I did not receive any other remuneration, and the review is composed entirely of my own opinions.
Making a brave attempt at finding what's really in their hearts, Falling Fire: Part Two, by Caroline Peckham, follows through the plan Quinn and Rogan concocted to test themselves.
With the plan that each of them can kiss someone that they choose, Quinn and Rogan seek to find who should act as their barometer of actual affection toward one another at university. As the dance approaches where each will kiss who they've chosen, doubts about the plan creep in as Quinn and Rogan gain a better understanding of how they feel about one another.
Similar to my hang-ups with Part One in this novella prequel series, the age-related behavior and some characteristics of these two characters didn't mesh well with the image of them portrayed in the primary series. The insights that these two parts provide into the lives of Quinn, Rogan, and even Larkin, help define them as characters for the primary series, even if the presentation of the timeline feels a bit disjointed.
Received free from the author in exchange for an honest review
This was just as good as the first part if not better because of all the drama. But Sam, don’t you hate drama? Yes, I know I’ve talked against drama in past reviews but that was against petty high school drama. This was real, life impacting drama which makes people grow and get better when everything is said and done.
This gives a little more depth to the characters and I think I’ve warmed a little more toward Larkin but I still don’t like him.
I can’t remember so if she is, comment and I’ll make an edit to this review but I do wish the readers had seen more of Katrina in the first two books, the drama would have been so good.
Now that the deal is in action, it is a little more interesting than the first part, it gives the readers a more in depth look into their emotions and if I could give more than five stars I would.
Larkin’s behavior in Bleeding Snow makes so much sense now, I was wondering what had happened between the times we saw the characters interacting.
