Thrust from their home, Bolton Farrera and Nadia Marie Carleigh are isolated from everyone they trust, and Bolton can barely walk. In need of experimental surgery, Bolton has exactly one thing on his mind: getting to the stash he hid years ago. But the man Bolton put in jail has escaped, and the hunt for revenge is on. Nadia Marie knows God put her with Bolton so she could help him. But when Bolton's past catches up to both of them, the cost is high. Nadia must choose between what she thought the future would hold, and the reality she's faced with. She must love unconditionally, even if she has to walk away from the one thing she wants. Bolton must protect the people he cares about, and maybe even admit the real truth about who he is. Even if uncovering his deception means he loses everything.
Lisa Phillips is a USA Today and top ten Publishers Weekly bestselling author of over 80 books that span Harlequin’s Love Inspired Suspense line, independently published series romantic suspense, and thriller novels. She’s discovered a penchant for high-stakes stories of mayhem and disaster where you can find made-for-each-other love that always ends in happily ever after.
Lisa is a British ex-pat who grew up an hour outside of London and attended Calvary Chapel Bible College, where she met her husband. He’s from California, but nobody’s perfect. It wasn’t until her Bible College graduation that she figured out she was a writer (someone told her). Lisa is a worship leader, tea aficionado, and dog lover of two crazy Airedales.
This was the 4th book in the series, and I have started the 5th. With that statement in mind, I found the stress level pretty high throughout the book 4, and I would have liked a break so my heart rate could have slowed down. Obviously, that is a positive comment on her writing skills.
I would have liked less killing and greater variety in the character names. This includes all of the books. There were 3 Sam's; a Maria and a Marie; and 2 Tom's. I had to start taking notes to keep track of who everyone was. Sometimes who was the speaker was hard to recognize.
On page 204: "Tristan fired. A red stain erupted ... on Thea's chest." This makes it sound as if, Tristan shot Thea. On page 217: "Right before Dante put a bullet in Thea..." This makes it sound it sound as if Dante shot Thea. Confusing.
Page 220: " ...It was Tristan who spoke..." Wasn't Tristan on the airplane with Dante having been killed previously?
Page 229: Typo. Word should have said paid instead of payed.
Page 254: Nadia says, "I always love you." I believe it would have read better to have said, I've always loved you."
Sanctuary Deceived is the fourth book in the series and I highly recommend reading the books in order. Each story builds upon the previous one.
I don't even know where to begin with this review! There is so much revealed about Bolton's past and the story is fast-paced. The reader barely has time to catch their breath before being thrust into another intense situation.
I love that we finally see more of Nadia and Bolton's friendship. However, you must wonder if it will survive everything they go through in this story! The author's writing continues to improve, but a few times the author uses the wrong name in a situation and you have to stop and think, oh, she meant this person. Other than that, it was another intriguing read about the WITSEC town.
It was my favorite so far from the series. I didn't come across any grammatical errors in this novel. There is a lot going on in this book, so you really need to have quiet to read it so you can immerse yourself in it and keep track of all the moving parts. This book makes me like Ben even more.
Oh My, I can't believe what happens in this chapter of the sanctuary series. Bolton & Nadie are outside the secret city for him to receive the experimental surgery on his back. In the 5-6 days after they are trying to find a maniac that's trying to kill Bolton. There are so many more surprises in this story that had my head spinning. I'm glad there is only one more book in this series.
This fourth book in The Sanctuary Series is everything and more.....it is gripping and nail-biting from beginning to end.... at times I had to remind myself that it was just a story.....I felt that I was there in the story. It is an excellent book, probably the best in the series. Lisa Phillips is a very gifted author......I really enjoy how she weaves the Lord into her books
I enjoyed this book very much, of course every book has been awesome, but my favorite book is still the first one. I did like how so many of the main characters seem to find closure & come to terms with themselves and other people too. There was way too much violence in this book that I like to read in a book.
So many inconsistencies and just plain bad editing. Using the wrong characters names on more than one occasion. And what was the point of including Gemma’s story? It didn’t fit the four of the book at all. I’m assuming that’s what book 5 will cover, but it shouldn’t have been part of this story done or didn’t tie in AT ALL.
I enjoyed the book but there were so many repeats of actions and feelings that had me scanning some of the time instead of really enjoying the story. Most books it seems anymore have some of the repetitions but it just seemed like this book had more than usual. Story great but too much filler!
Lisa Phillips keeps you on your toes with this book. Multiple plot twists. More background on Nadia Marie, Bolton and Ben. Sanctuary will never be the same but can it still be home? A must read.
This series is still going strong even after reading the 4th book. Going to purchase #5 now. Some times a little hard to follow but becomes clear later in the book. Great to read a faith base book. Happy to read a clean book, not all sex.
SANCTUARY DECEIVED was the best installment yet in the WITSEC Town series! The action was non-stop and riveting!
Bolton Farrera and Nadia Marie Carleigh are whisked away from the town of Sanctuary so Bolton can have back surgery that is long overdue. What happens next is a roller coaster ride of threats, near misses, kidnappings, chaos, brutality, and emotions of longing and regret.
Though Nadia Marie has feelings for Bolton, his life outside of Sanctuary is like nothing she ever imagined. While they are on the run, Nadia senses Bolton growing more distant, but doesn’t understand why. She’s sacrificed everything to be with him, but he seems to have a singular focus—one that doesn’t include her.
Bolton hides out with Nadia Marie while he awaits the back surgery he needs. He’s frustrated with himself for dragging Nadia into the chaos and danger that is his life, knowing when all is said and done, he has no intentions of returning to Sanctuary. He has feelings for Nadia, but won’t allow himself to get involved with her. The danger is just too great.
It’s hard to describe all that happened in SANCTUARY DECEIVED because a new set of circumstances awaited Bolton and Nadia Marie at every turn. Other than Dante and Tristan, you never really know who the bad guys are until they tried to eliminate Bolton and Nadia. With help from Ben and Grant Mason, Bolton is determined to extinguish the threat against his life and return Nadia to safety.
This was an incredible series! SANCTUARY DECEIVED is a little different than the previous installments because the action takes place outside of Sanctuary. I was near exhaustion trying to keep up with the action, and my heart hurt every time Nadia doubted Bolton’s intentions. I can’t say enough about this series, other than, buy it! You’ll be glad you did.
Note: Lisa has added two more installments in the WITSEC series that are only available in an electronic format. I haven’t read these yet, but hope to soon.
I enjoyed the suspense, romance and mystery in the previous novels in this series and this book continued the fantastic ride. I had preordered this book and the first download was filled with editing lingo and difficult to read. HOWEVER someone somewhere fixed that, and I spent the last day of my husband's hospital stay chasing around with Bolton, Nadia , Ben and Grant a s they chased and were chased by the bad guys. This series is based on the concept of a 'Sanctuary' town where witness protection folks sign up for a lifetime without contact with the outside world. Of course a whole town of fleeing witnesses who may or may not be so innocent themselves has so many potential storylines this series can play out for awhile. I kind of hope it does, and that the books will go o. Special pricing now and then so that I can afford to keep buying them! Take a chance on the 'Sanctuary series, you won't be s sorry!!
I have really enjoyed the Sanctuary series...but this one was more of a struggle to get through. I couldn't really connect to the characters this time and there were far too many editing errors. Will read the next one in the series but if the experience is the same, that will probably be the end for me.
So for the second time in this series- whoever publishes the Kindle format did it incorrectly. This copy is full of edits and revisions. Very distracting and irritating.
I had been really looking forward to this instalment in the Sanctuary Witsec Series and was glad to finally discover Nadia's and Bolton's story but I was a little bit disappointed. Their story didn't sit real well with me -my expectations were too different from the way things actually went.
I have followed this series from the beginning. Do not try to only read this book. Start from the first book and follow it from book to book as you understand all about Sanctuary and the people who live there. I highly recommend this book and series.
I loved the non stop action in this latest book in the WITSEC series. The characters were exciting, the suspense heart stopping and and what I expected. I look forward to the next book in the series.
Wow! I loved this one! Again, I couldn't put my Kindle down.
These stories get more exciting with each book. Bolton and Nadia's is the best one yet! I don't know how you could top this one! I've been waiting for this one for a while.
Enjoyed it at fits and then there were too many extraneous events that didn't seem to add much except another close call and escape. Will not go for #5
I have really enjoyed this series. It keeps you interested through the entire book and you can't wait to start reading the next one. I am now on the last of the series and want to know what the book on Ben is titled.
Lisa Phillips series of Sanctuary is outstanding. When I have to stop reading to do something (like laundry, dinner) I hate to put it down. Full of action, suspense, murder, witness protection gone awry. Bombs, dirty DEA agents, US Marshals, cops, trusted employees gone bad, romance, quirky characters, heroes trying to save others even when their life is at stake. A military dog named Dauntless, that doesn't understand he is supposed to be retired. Even injured he is still a hero.
What more could you ask for. Oh yes, did I mention - a second Sanctuary under a different name? Is there secret location safe? This is the 4th book in the series and I loved it. Will be starting book #5 today. I'm going to miss all the wonderful characters, the excitement and the pleasure it has been to read this series. I don't normally like series but this is one I hate to see come to an end. Lisa Phillips is now on my Favorite Authors' List. Will definitely be buying more books from this author. One of the best new authors (to me) I've found in awhile. Not to say I haven't found some great authors but so glad I read about her books on a Christian blog for readers. I highly recommend this series & this author. Definitely a page turner series. I bought these books for my Kindle and no one asked me to write these reviews. All opinions are my own.
