3.5*

I really enjoyed this weird mishmash of a superhero punk fiction. It was strange and often hilarious and most definitely over the top. El Sombra the main super hero was brutal and dealt with his enemies mercilessly and ruthlessly and I loved the fighting scenes. I liked that this book didn't take itself too seriously.
I felt like the 3rd book in this omnibus fell short for me. I didn't really enjoy it that much. It seemed all over the place or maybe it just went over my head. Also El Sombra was hardly present and then when he finally appeared things went in a really weird direction that I didn't really care for. I also felt like the 3rd book didn't seem to gel well with the rest. It felt really apart from the rest in terms of the writing style and the storyline. It took ook a sci-fi techie aspect that felt really different than the previous two books in the omnibus.
Overall, still a really good read and a lot of fun. I liked the gory aspects of it and the unlikely superhero aspects and the antagonists were also interesting characters which really added to the overall plot.

The first book OK without being great, sort of an alternative superhero but the second! I just gave up after a while, just seemed a pointless rambling?

Superheroes, steampunk, and Zorro fighting the Nazis. It is almost the perfect book.

I love Al Ewing's work in comics (for the most part) and expected to love this, but for whatever reason, it just didn't work well for me. I guess Ewing just needs to work with an artist.

An easy read with some great descriptions of a strange futuristic but immovable almost parallel world. Loved the first book, second was a bit too super hero-y for my taste but a good bridge to the third which had a clever twist at the end
