Customize your favorite dinosaur drawings from acclaimed artist William Stout with this deluxe all-ages coloring book.
For decades, acclaimed illustrator and movie artist William Stout has been transporting viewers into the lost world of the dinosaurs. Through his children’s book The Little Blue Brontosaurus , which formed the basis for The Land Before Time animated series, to his murals of prehistoric life and visionary designs for dozens of films, Stout’s award-winning artwork immerses you in places real and imagined to encounter fascinating creatures.
Now you can personalize dino-master William Stout’s thrilling illustrations and create your own prehistoric realm. From long-necked Apatosaurus to horned Zuniceratops and, of course, mighty Tyrannosaurus rex, over eighty dinosaurs are featured within, each of them hand-drawn and precisely rendered in pen and ink among the flora of their era. To journey through time to the kingdom of the dinosaurs, all you need are pens, pencils, and a bit of imagination.
This is a coloring book-- there is nothing to read. It has 100 pages of Stout's beautiful pen and ink illustrations of dinosaurs. Stout has a small problem that his dinosaurs often look "shrink wrapped"-- you can see their skeletons through their skin-- but overall he is an incredible artist, with all kinds of interesting textures and poses, and I enjoy just looking through the pages. I bought some high quality colored pencils, and Ellen (age 6) and I happily color together with them on opposite pages. She would be happy with many other coloring books, of course, but she can tell this one is my favorite and wants to do it together with me.
A lovely collection of some of Stout's black and white work, clean and ready for your markers, colored pencils, and eyes.
Some of the images will be familiar to Stout fans—they're drawings from his Convention Sketches series or the black and white line work that he colored with inks and the like for his dinosaur books. Other images are new. All of them are lush and detailed. The age range of the images stretches from the '70s to just a few years back, pretty much covering Stout's entire career. They're great pictures, colored or not, and it's nice to see Stout delivering a book that highlights his skills with the pen.
This book is amazing. I won this in a giveaway from Goodreads and I was super pumped for this to come in. I am so glad that this book is not only a coloring book but also has wonderful facts about the dinosaurs.
