This compilation of real life stories offers a wonderful contribution to the current social conversation about body image and self worth. I am a proud contributor to this Chicken Soup volume (story #3 - A Confident Triumph) and a life-long fan of the series. Once again Chicken Soup has touched our hearts and challenged our minds.
As a plus size curvy woman, it has been a struggle at times to accept my body as well as how others feel about my body. Fortunately with the creation of body positivity movements such as the HAES (healthy at every size) and fat acceptance movement, I have learned to appreciate and embrace my body as it currently is regardless of what others have to say.
The book consists of 101 stories about loving yourself an your body divided into eleven sections including sharing the wisdom, nourishing my body, the joy of exercise and breaking out of my comfort zone to name a few. This book provides wonderful inspiring stories which empower the reader to live their life on their own terms. I feel that while this book is written for the plus size woman, it can also be read by plus size men or family and friends of plus size people so they can have a better idea of the challenges plus size people encounter on a daily basis.
I can't like this book enough! It is a must read for everyone, men and women. It has a great range of authors. When you feel low, read this pick to pick you up.
