Capturing Cresselia: Unofficial Stories for Pokémon Collectors, #2

Rate this book
Welcome to Camp Pikachu, where kids can act out adventures from their favorite Pokémon games and cartoons, battling other teams to earn points and badges and, if they’re lucky, make it into the Summer Camp Hall of Fame!

Marco, Nisha, Logan, and Maddy can’t wait to embark on their latest Pokémon Orienteering! The friends are eager to catch sight of the legendary Cresselia. So, armed with just a map and a set of clues, they strike out to explore the forest around Camp Pikachu. But when the clues lead the group straight to the shore of a nearby lake, Marco is shocked to realize that the only way to move forward is to ride a zip line across the water.

If Marco can’t find his courage with the help of his friends, his fears will keep him grounded—and his chances of seeing Cresselia’s Lunar Dance are shot. Just as Pokemon can evolve through training, can Marco get stronger through new experiences?

Longtime fans of Pokemon, or new fans of the hit app Pokemon Go, will love reading about Marco and his friends at Camp Pikachu.

This book begins with Marco's letter to his parents from Camp Pikachu explaining that he gets to ride a zip line! This caught my boys' attention immediately because they've been zip lining twice now and thought it was a blast, so they could definitely relate to Marco's fear and enthusiasm about the sport. My kids have had a great time at Scout camp, but they were able to imagine how even greater camp would be if it involved Pokémon catching! At 110 pages with kid-friendly language and lots of action, "Capturing Cresselia" is the ideal book for reluctant readers (ages 8-12) and, of course, fans of Pokémon! (I received a complimentary copy from the publisher but was not obligated to review.)

„Най-добър да бъда аз, Да нямам равен днес...” Хайде, не се преструвайте, че не знаете текста. Вероятно не малко от вас са били сред хлапетата, които преди 15-тина години са следили пред екраните Покемон приключенията на Аш, Мисти и Брок. А сега приключенията продължават в серия детски романи от Егмонт България. Прочетете ревюто на "Книжни Криле:

Dexter (8yo) read this aloud with me for his reading assignments for school.

It's a good story about facing your fears and how it's easier with friends around and knowing that other people are afraid of things too. The Pokemon references were fun. I'm sure Dex would love for Camp Pikachu to be a real place.
