Exquisite Danger

Rate this book
Narrated by: Andy E. Ross, Stephanie Wyles
Length: 11 hrs and 1 min
Unabridged Audiobook

Book two in the Iron Horse MC series, which should be listened to in order.
For the first time in my life, I know what it's like to be completely and truly adored by a man who loves me for exactly who I am, a high-functioning autistic with more personality quirks than there are stars in the Texas Hill Country night sky.
Some people think my boyfriend, Smoke, is a total biker psycho, a natural born killer who will destroy anyone who threatens what he considers his. They wouldn't be wrong, but he's so much more than that. He's my salvation, my beloved fallen angel who is trying with all of his heart to save me from what seems like an entire world bent on either killing me or a fate worse than death.
We're headed to the Denver, Colorado, chapter of the Iron Horse MC, chasing after my narcissistic, junkie mother who decided to steal from some very bad men, leaving her two daughters behind to pay the price for her betrayal. My twin sister, Sarah, old lady to the Iron Horse MC president, is looking for my mother as well. Sarah's gone rogue and has no one to guard her back, which worries me deeply. To further complicate matters, there are traitors in the Iron Horse MC who are working with my mother, not only helping her to escape but also informing my enemies of my every move.
The odds are stacked against me, but I will do whatever is necessary to protect those I love, and with Smoke at my side I just might make it out of this mess alive.

About the author

Ann Mayburn

95 books1,973 followers
Ann is Queen of the Castle to her wonderful husband and three sons in the mountains of West Virginia. In her past lives she's been an Import Broker, a Communications Specialist, a US Navy Civilian Contractor, a Bartender/Waitress, and an actor at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. She also spent a summer touring with the Grateful Dead(though she will deny to her children that it ever happened).

From a young age she's been fascinated by myths and fairytales, and the romance that often was the center of the story. As Ann grew older and her hormones kicked in, she discovered trashy romance novels. Great at first, but she soon grew tired of the endless stories with a big wonderful emotional buildup to really short and crappy sex. Never a big fan of purple prose, throbbing spears of fleshy pleasure and wet honey pots make her giggle, she sought out books that gave the sex scenes in the story just as much detail and plot as everything else-without using cringe worthy euphemisms. This led her to the wonderful world of Erotic Romance, and she's never looked back.

Now Ann spends her days trying to tune out cartoons playing in the background to get into her 'sexy space' and has learned to type one handed while soothing a cranky baby.

I have read books 3 and 4 some time ago and absolutely loved them. So I figured it was finally time to jump into the first two books. This is my review for book 1 and 2 ;)

Now, even though I really did enjoy reading this one...I found myself annoyed at more than one occasion. The heroine was great though not as great as her twin Sarah from books 3 and 4. I think Swan was a little bit of a doormat when it came to Smoke. He was a complete ass to her but every time he touched her she forgave him...because ..well...horny !!!

Which is another thing that bothered me. The amount of sex in these books. My god, the sex scenes were pages upon pages and even I had to go and skim...and everyone knows I am a dirty girl :P
Swan could have filled more than one pool with the amount of wetness she was experiencing !! It started to get a bit gross...

I can't remember if I felt the same way about Sarah and Beach' books, but I do know I liked Sarah more than Swan.

That said, this is a great series and definitely recommend if you love biker books. Now I am off to read Lyric's story ;)

Swan and Smoke have never been closer but the more they find out about the danger Swan is in, the more it is evident that there is a traitor in the MC. As Swan and Smoke head to Denver, Colorado to locate her twin and mother Swan has to learn to be a proper old lady. Better said than done, Swan can't seem to help herself and although she breaks the mold of a submissive old lady she also earns some respect in unlikely areas.

Exciting second part to the story. I thought that Swan comes into her own in this one. She and Smoke but heads frequently, but she is learning and Smoke is seeing that sometimes there is no instructions on old lady's. Cant wait for more.

Book two starts where book one ended, Smoke and Swan are at her parents getting ready to leave and find her sister Sarah and their mother Billie. When Swan and Smoke get to Denver to look for her sister and mom they stay at a local chapter and find that betrayal may be deeper than they originally thought. Very few can be trusted but the few who can make plans with Smoke and Swan to get both sisters out of trouble with the Russians.

Being at the MC Swan runs into woman who know Smoke and want him back, and Veronica won't seem to stop causing problem. As the troubles keep mounting and no one is able to find Sarah Swan starts to make friends hoping she can get more information to save her family. When they finally start getting information about who is the mastermind they discover that someone is keeping a close eye on the MC. After an ambush Swan barely makes it out of A plan is set in motion to finally finish it all but Smoke isn't happy with how close to danger Swan may be. Then the unexpected happens and Sarah is safe. When Swan and Smoke get away to spend time together news comes that bring them home and they quickly learn the threat is still very real.

This was a great book with lost of twists and filled with story. Swan and Smoke were amazing in this story and we meet more characters that just adds to this book and leaves me wanting book three. The ending was a surprise but an interesting twist. Swan and Smokes happy ending was perfect and well deserved for two people who had been through so much. I think how this author will connect these book with those to come was brilliant and I haven't read a book that did this in a long while ***** MILD SPOILER**** the villain is not yet discovered in this book****END SPOILER****.

This author really impressed me, I have scene books by her in the past but never read any. I think she is a very talented author that I will be keeping a close eye on. Her story flowed beautifully and I once again(like the last book) found myself sitting down to read this book and looking up to find hours had gone by. This book was hard to put down just like the last book, there were some small parts that were skimmed over that I wish we would have gotten a stronger conclusion to(nothing major) or explain more but nothing that took away from the story.

I loved seeing the growth in Smoke and Swan's relationship and watching them find their way into a relationship they never thought possible and I loved reading how in love they were, I completely believed they would gladly kill to keep the other safe and happy. This simply was a magnificent conclusion to Swan and Smokes book and I highly recommend this book and book one to anyone who loves a MC romance, or anyone who loves a hot possessive hero and a great story.
*Please note that you should read book one before this book since this is a continuation of the story that starts in book one.

First off, I loved loved loved the action in this book. Everything the first book lacked in action scenes could be found here.

Not only was Smoke his usual sexy, Alpha, badass self, but we finally saw the "badassness" that was Swan. Colour me impressed with this lady. She took no ish and she wanted, no expected to be treated as an equal. I loved every scene that showed her skill, proficiency with weapons, talent with tactical, etc.

While basically every chapter began and ended with amazingly hot sex, the storyline was strong enough to carry it. There was betrayal, suspense, mystery, drama, killing, sex, love, reunion, etc.

I personally found this book a marked improvement over the first one.

There is a pretty sweet HFN but it's a bit tarnished because the story, to me, isn't really complete. I would like to know who the actual bad guy was. Who was the mastermind behind all of the betrayal in the club and why does he hate Smoke so much?

Exquisite Danger picks up where Exquisite Trouble left off. I really enjoyed the continuation of Smoke and Swan, but my major complaint with this book was Swan. While I really liked her in book 1 in this one she annoyed me with all her GI Jane moments. I found it really annoying every time she mentioned her training, it really wasn't training IMO more like child abuse. Anyway with that said the ending was really good and I can't wait to find out who the traitor is and of course Beach and Sarah's story.

It’s been a long time since I read Exquisite Trouble and it’s companion book, Exquisite Danger but I devoured the next two books in the Iron Horse MC series before realizing I never wrote reviews on the first two. Re-reading the books was not a hardship since I enjoyed Smoke and Swan’s story and already knew their history spans over both books.

Smoke, the Sergeant of Arms for the Iron Horse MC, was tasked with protecting Swan, the soon to be sister in law of the Iron Horse MC’s National President. While watching over her from afar, the quirky, unbelievably smart young woman with extreme social issues slowly stole his heart. At first, his behavior came off as stalkerish, but then you realize that the rough, gruff biker was doing everything possible to keep Swan safe from a threat she didn’t even know about.

As much as I adored Smoke, it was Swan who won my heart. With a retired special forces isolationist prepper father and a mob princess/assassin step-mother, her education consisted of homeschooling and survival training. This resulted in her being a strange mixture of extremely naive but also unbelievably deadly. As a high functioning autistic, she suffered from social anxiety and sensory issues such that being touched by people she didn’t trust could make her physically ill. Despite her issues, she was determined to make her way in the real world.

Due to a threat to Swan, Smoke was forced to make his presence known. Determined to make her his, he tried to go softly since she was so innocent but being the alpha biker he is, treading lightly wasn’t exactly his strong suit. Where he has had the advantage of a long time to fall in love with his woman, Swan doesn’t know him at all. Confused that he can actually touch her without issues, overwhelmed by new to her feelings, and clueless to MC life, Smoke has his work cut out for him getting her to give him a chance. At times, her not seeing what was right in front of her did get on my nerves.

Swan and Sarah’s (her identical twin sister) mother is one nasty piece of work. When she puts both her daughters in danger from more than one mob faction, Sarah takes off to find her and then disappears. As Smoke and Swan work together to find Sarah, it takes all of Smoke’s resources to find a way to keep Swan safe because of the huge target her mother has put on her.

During their search for Sarah, we get to meet several other characters who I hope to read more about in future books. Hustler’s antics had me smiling and Beach (Sarah’s fiancee and the MC President) made me want to reach into the iPad and hug him, such was his concern and worry over his woman. Tom, aka Mr. Sokolov, had me so interested I actually checked out Ms. Mayburn’s other books to see if he had a story of his own since he’s not really a member of the Iron Horse MC.

The two books have a definite HFN ending, but the trouble is far from over for the Iron Horse MC. This series has the rich characters, grit and action that I love in a good MC series, so I look forward to future installments.

What I Struggled With:

1. Swan’s upbringing broke my heart.
2. Veronica–the whole story line felted like unneeded angst, plus it made me want to throttle Smoke.
3. I wanted to know more of Smoke’s past.
4. At times Swan’s immaturity, especially in Exquisite Danger, got on my last nerve even though I understood how her sheltered upbringing contributed to this.

What I Loved:

1. Almost everything about Swan including all her quirks.
2. Smoke and how hard he tried to take care of all of Swan’s needs.
3. Beach– His love and concern for Sarah showed were front and center with him.

Well this is the second book in the Iron Horse series and quite simply blows the first book out of the water. I enjoyed Exquisite Trouble but with this sequel the author has well and truly ramped up the action. Swan comes from quite an unusual background to say the least but when her mother stole from some very dangerous people it completely and totally changed Swans life . Not only was she mistakenly kidnapped but she found herself being rescued by Smoke a seriously badass biker but somehow he doesn't scare Swan, in fact to Swan that huge rough around the edges male feels like home ! So now they are trying to explore what's between them but Swans sister is missing and it looks like she's trying to track down their no good mother. A lead sees Swan and Smoke traveling to Denver to question Smokes fellow bikers but not everyone is pleased to see Swan and it looks as if treachery is afoot! Can Smoke keep the woman he sees as forever his safe? Or will this journey see them taking one ride too far?
Im not always sure if honest that the characters in these books are completely sane and you know what I don't even care as I adore their over the top interactions! Swan comes from the most dysfunctional family and yet there's so much love and emotion there. At times I want to shake Swan and then she does something that has me wanting to hug her! Yes she is a very complex heroine but that's the beauty of her. She isn't always right , she makes bad decisions but her heart is always in the right place and trust me she's a tough nut to crack! Her weakness though is her love for her family and as Smoke feels like home to her it makes for interesting conversations or should I say confrontations?
Smoke oh boy is that man well and truly hooked ! No one is going to come between him and his lady but he has a habit of both doing and saying the wrong things! To say they are both on a learning curve is to put it mildly but they are both new to this relationship and Smokes natural dominant personality sure does case one or two misunderstandings . Not to mention that the biker mentality and position of women in their world is something that Swan is still coming to terms with. Then of course there's a fabulous story arc that's just growing in intensity and in this book the action is so intense with a twisting plot that blew me away.
Fans of this authors work will particularly enjoy seeing cameo appearances from heroes of her other books and that leads me nicely on to the romance aspect of this book. I did mention that Smoke is quite a dominant personality and that translates into the bedroom as well so expect very sexy shenanigans . This works well as a standalone but to do it justice I'd recommend reading these books in order.
I was lucky to receive a copy of this from the publisher in exchange for an honest review and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It's a continuation from Exquisite Trouble.

Smoke and Swan's story continues when they head down to Colorado chapter. Like I'm going to tell you anything lol.

“She placed her hand over mine and leaned into me as I led her to the flower-covered archway, trusting me to take care of her, because she knew she was the most important thing in the world to me.

Now and forever.”

Oh man. I loved some things about this book. Getting to see more of Smoke’s POV is awesome. I think it gives the book more balance and I really liked getting both leads’ perspectives throughout the story. In this book particularly, Smoke’s very complicated psyche needed some exploration and I thought his generally steadier thought processes helped to balance out Swan’s frenetic, jumpy POV. It was also fun for Smoke’s scarier side to come out to play. I love how gentle he is with Swan – she is incredibly fragile and insecure in some ways – but the last thing a writer wants is her audience doubting whether the badass Master at Arms biker is really all that intimidating…. he definitely is! Do not get on Smoke’s bad-side.

Unfortunately, I didn’t think the plot was as strong as the first novel. Most of “ED” was about the identity of the Iron Horse traitor but to the reader, it is painfully obvious who is at fault...

Wow! I was completely blown away by this book.
I thought "Exquisite Trouble" was good but this was even better.

I laughed, I cried, I cringed and then sighed...this story had everything..
A hero who is flawed and violent, but still sexy and caring.
A heroine who is flawed and violent, but only when necessary...and especially when her man is at risk.

Ann Mayburn is a wonderful writer. She can switch from a chilling description of a religious cult to snappy one liners, from scenes of graphic (but not gratuitous) violence to hot sex, from the realities of life as a biker chick to touching scenes of caring and romance.

If you like your romance to have a gritty, realistic background...read this book!

I was sent an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I loved it! Had I not loved it I wouldn't have written a review.

Great series! 4.5 stars!

I loved this it was excellant and fast paced. Also it was so bad ass. Swan's father was in the military and is now a survialist so he's taught her from when she was little how to survive. Sometimes his method wasn't conventional but it's shaped her to who she is today and she is a total bad ass! Smoke is so delish I adore him to pieces!! Why not 5 stars.....I can't believe I'm going here but there was too much sex. I know I can't believe it either I'm shocked with myself!! lol I am really looking forward to the next book!!! Check out this series!

Exquisite Danger follows through with Swan and Smoke's story and it didn't disappoint. I'm all for biker books. This one is one of my favorites ones because I feel like it's not cheesy and it's dark and hard, and gritty. Just like an MC story should be for me. I liked the development between Smoke and Swan, how far they have come. I love Beach and Sarah. Digging Hustler, Tom, Lyric, Indigo, Hulk, Vance, her dad and Mimi! It progressed really well in this series. I can't wait to see what more happens!!

This was a great conclusion to Swan and Smoke's story.

They are still on the hunt for Swan's twin sister and crazy mother. But there are also some internal traitors causing problems.

The sex is still super hot and I love Smoke's dirty mouth. He's a dominant and while this is an important part of his character, he's slowly introducing Swan to his lifestyle.

Lot's of good plot twists but still some unresolved problems...like the identity of the mysterious biker who has is in for Smoke.

3-3.5 stars

This was a good story. I was happy that things seemed to work out for Swan and Smoke. Their relationship was still rather drama filled in this story. This is mostly because they're in a tough situation and Smoke has a tendency to be a jerk...blaming Swan for things that aren't her fault (like his old skanks coming after her) and dismissing her feelings about things that concern her. When this wasn't happening, they were having sex...loads and loads of sex. I did like Smoke and Swan together when they were doing good but there's constantly something going wrong in the story so it's not often that good times are shown.

The action plot is addressed in this story. Progress is made but it seems like the issues aren't all coming from the threats the MC knew about so the story ends with things not completely resolved. TBH, I'm 95% sure I already know who the traitor is but that wasn't revealed in this book.

I was relatively happy to find that book #3 is actually going to be Beach and Sarah's book (so Smoke and Swan are pretty much ending their story as a HEA). Apparently it'll go into Beach and Sarah's past and then what she did while trying to hunt down her mother during books # 1 & 2 and I'm guessing that the action plot will be concluded and the bad guy will be revealed at that point. Hopefully...

This was a pretty enjoyable story. My main complaints: In the relationship part, there was too much continuing drama between Smoke and Swan over crap she's already expressed to him bothers her but he does it anyways. In the action plot, too little got accomplished and the rest of the story was either relationship drama or sex. It wasn't bad but just wasn't what I was hoping for. I did like that Swan continued to show that she can take care of herself when push comes to shove. Overall, I liked the story but didn't love it.

* note - I listened to the audio version of the story. There were actually 2 narrators. The female narrated most of the story (anything from Swan's PoV, which was most of the story) and the male did the parts from Smoke's PoV and the male voices in the parts from Swan's PoV. It took a bit of getting used to but it was alright overall.

Finished book 1 and had to dive right into book 2 and it was even better..mostly cause we got some conclusion even though the story will continue into book 3. I love a continuous story line but that the romance finishes in a book or 2 and we have more characters' stories to follow. This series has some amazing characters. I will love reading Sarah and Beach's story next but I also want to read Hustler, Tom and Lyric's stories...even Stewart. Hulk's story I bet is going to be a good one...If you can't tell I'm very excited about this series. It has all the elements I want in a biker novel. Two great kick ass characters who both have a twist in their personalities. Wonderful secondary characters, a biker club that is raw and gritty...no Disney bikers here. A story arc that is dirty, dark, painful to read but the romance aspect give you that ray of sunlight which gives you hope for the characters. They mystery, intrigue, action and adventure only a biker story can give you.

Ann Mayburn writes fabulous character driven novels but doesn't forget that the reader needs a nice deep story to keep them involved. Her romance scenes especially the oral sex scenes were HAWT!!...I think we could have had one or two less but at least she really kept them fresh and not repetitive. This series is a winner and I hope the wait between books is not lengthly.

A five star read for me and a t'irla recommendation one of my favorite biker reads this year. ...give yourself a Christmas treat...go buy book 1 and 2 right now and escape with the MC.

HOLY MOLY! WOW what an ending! The suspense was so intense I almost peed my pants. Lol. Swan and Smoke are put through some trials and tribulations that strengthen and deepen their love even further. Swan is one bad ass chic. I love her. She's a combination of beauty, brains, and inner strength. Smoke is gorgeous, strong, and very protective of the people he cares about the most. If they were real people they'd be THE power couple. I highly recommend this book to everyone. It's an AMAZING ending to an amazing story. Ann Mayburn is one of my favorite Authors. I would LOVE to see another book written about Swan's friend Lyric. Does she escape? Does she go to find Swan and Smoke? Maybe fall for one of the MC brothers. Perhaps Hulk? He needs some happiness in his life. HEY ANN, WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I loved this second book! This book picked up where the 1st one left off. This book, I found, was a little more full of action, we got to really see how Swan was trained in the past as a child. Let me just say this...swan is one tough woman! Other then being full of non stop action and drama, this book is soooooo hot! The connection between Smoke and Swan is even more steamy in this book...I don't even know how this author made that possible, but she did!! I can't wait to read what's next in this series!

Well part 2 of swan and smoke did not disappoint in the least. Crazy parties, or should I say crazy families, traitors, shoot outs, kidnappings, torture..etc. what else is there to Say? Except for junkie mom's, Russian mafia and a whole lot more to the story and who is Chief??
This book kept me glued to the pages with the amazing plot, hot sex scenes and of course the amazing characters.

Wow! I really loved this story, maybe even more than the first one which surprises me in a great way. I really enjoyed getting to see more of Swan's family and seeing just how strong Swan really is. There is a high level of violence in these stories which may be too much for some readers.

Rated a little lower than book #1 mostly due to the fact I just really don't care about the ongoing issue the book is focused on with her mom and sister. So it is odd reading about a book where you don't care about the major plot point but I still enjoy the characters and supporting characters enough to enjoy it. Though it was so OTT at times you have to roll your eyes.

So our Hero Smoke has some major anger issues and pops off at the mouth so much. He finds himself yelling and talking down to our Leading Lady in front of people. When ever that happened I wanted to throat punch him SO HARD. It was nice to see a Hero who wasn't "perfect." Smoke was an asshole. I loved the fact that Swan stood up to him and didn't let him get away with treating her poorly or showing her disrespect in front of others.

I think that Book #3 and #4 should have been read before Book #1 and Book #2. Why? In Book #1 & #2 you see Beach and Sarah's relationship and especially in Book #2 you see how far it has progressed and now when I start Book #3 I am going to feel like I cheated and read the back of the book... so disappointed in that.

Someone dies... IDGAF. I think I actually stood up and clapped when I found out. That is how much I don't care for the character. Hope and Pray the next books just let this character die off... I don't care who killed this person. I think they deserve a metal. Or maybe the keys the city.

So on a down note: The sex scenes are pretty boring IMO. I had an issue with them in Book #1 also. There is so much internal dialog and just words that it just takes away from the act. I want to read a sex scene and get all hot and bothered and be like... Damn all mighty! Instead I am skimming. They talk soooo much about BDSM and yet I am still here waiting to see some. Stop telling me and show me some!

This one was so much better than the first. Swan was fantastically strong in this book and I loved her kickassedness. There was so much more happening in this one that did't focus n Smoke trying to stick his d*** in Swan every 5 minutes.

I decided to not give it a 5 stars because it annoyed me they didn't wrap it up and tell us who was the ultimate leader of these traitors that they were trying to flush out. I have an strong idea of who it is but, I seriously rolled my eyes when the author didn't reveal it.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

In her bio, Ann Mayburn is listed as the Queen of her castle. Well I propose promoting her to Goddess of the E-Reader. I base this recommendation on her amazing writing ability which was showcased brilliantly in her newest release, Exquisite Danger, the second book in the Iron Horse MC series. With this newest book, Ms. Mayburn sets a new standard for MC romance.

Ms. Mayburn writes with so much intricate detail that she has created this amazing, vivid and dynamic world of the Iron Horse MC club. The story she has written is gritty, dirty, and raw. There is nothing light or fluffy about it. This perfectly sets the tone for the danger that is the backdrop of the world in which Swan and Smoke reside. I found myself so immersed in this alternative universe that I lost all track of where I was and would find myself startled by any interruption.

The characters she has created are perfectly complex. Every feature and aspect of their personalities is so well defined that I absolutely understood who they were and what motivated them. Their emotions, the anger, passion, love, fear and so much more, poured off the pages into my soul. I found myself holding my breath when they were in danger or sighing out loud when they declared their love. I’m not sure I should confess how I felt when they were making love, but you get the idea.

Swan is unlike any other romance heroine that I have ever seen. I find her to be utterly fascinating because she is so complex. She is incredibly bright but surprisingly naïve. She is extremely independent and in fact, has been trained from a very young age as to how to kill a man. Yet she finds herself dependent on Smoke’s love as if it was the very air she needs to breathe. Swan admits freely that her brain doesn’t work like others and sometimes she found it to be a hindrance. I found it to be endearing and made me root for her even more.

Smoke was everything you could want in a bad boy. He was rough around the edges and sometimes was a complete jerk in his quest to protect the woman he loved. But then he would turn around and be the sweetest, most gentle creature. I loved how he took the time to learn about and embrace all of Swan’s quirks. His entire world revolved around Swan and he wasn’t afraid to admit it, despite his reputation as a tough as nails biker.

Ms. Mayburn treated Smoke and Swan’s relationship with the ultimate respect and created a surprisingly realistic bond. They argued and even sometimes said very hurtful and stupid things to each other in the heat of the argument. But they then calmed down, discussed the problem and made up. It was very easy to forget that I was reading about fictional characters because I felt that I knew them as well as I knew myself.

Even the secondary characters were treated with as much effort and because of that each one was colorful and animated. Ms. Mayburn has stated that the next installment of the series will focus on Sarah, Swan’s twin, and her husband Beach, President of the Iron Horse MC. I am awaiting that book with baited breath because there was so much hinted at in the first two books that I can’t wait to learn what really happened.

So Exquisite Danger offers the reader everything they could ask for – dramatic storytelling, memorable characters and sensuous lovemaking. For all of these reasons (and because let’s face it, she totally rocked my world with this book), I nominate Ms. Mayburn for Goddess. All those in favor, raise your e-reader. All those opposed? Yeah, didn’t think I would find any who oppose. The motion passes!

Exquisite Danger is the second book in the Iron Horse MC series and picks up with Swan and Smoke right where the first book left off. If you haven't read the first book I suggest that you read it first since they are about the same couple and will make the most sense read in order. However this was a good book on its own.

The first book focused a lot on Swan and Smoke getting to know one another and figuring out how to handle the feelings they stirred up, as well as all the club drama. This book focuses more on Swan and Smoke as a couple. There is a lot more sex, kinky and sweet, in this book and some of it I could do without. It did get a little repetitive and I wanted the plot to just move on but overall I still really enjoyed this story.

We are introduced to several new characters but we still get so see characters from previous the book. I'm not going to drop any spoilers but while Swan and Smoke's story is pretty much tied up at the end, there are still many threads left hanging. There is still a traitor that hasn't been caught, Swan's best friend has some drama going in her life as do several of Smoke's MC friends. There is still a lot to learn about this club and this is going to be a great series with lots of twists and turns.

I did enjoy this book but it is a bit darker than I like to read. The MC is violent and not completely legal. There are questionable activities aplenty happening and morals aren't necessarily a high priority. But these characters, while they dont' have traditional morals or beliefs, still have their own code and they stick to it. As with many MC books the club is first and the women are second class citizens. But even with that, characters like Smoke, Beach, Breaker, ect still manage to find that balance and have strong relationships that are interesting to read about.

I am looking forward to the next book in the series that is about Sarah, Swan's twin. Since Sarah and Beach are already hooked up in Swans book, we will go back to when they first met (and hopefully learn what the insdie jokes Smoke would make to Sarah mean) and how she helped Swan and Smoke in their books as well.

TThis is book 2 in the Iron Horse MC series. This book picks back up where book 1 leaves off.

Swan and Smoke are in a race to locate Sarah, Swan’s twin and the old lady of Iron Horse Motorcycle Club.
They leave the relative safety with Swan’s father and step mother and head to the Denver CO chapter of the Iron Horse MC on the trail of Swan and Sarah’s mother who sold out Smoke’s Prez and is out to harm Swan and Sarah. Their mother is a full on mental case who is not EVER going to win Mother of the year. They are in a race against time to get ahold of her, get back what she stole, save Sarah, and also root out those double crossers there at the Denver CO chapter. Also Swan and Smoke's lives are at risk so they are in trying to get things done and keep themselves safe in the race against time.

There is plenty of Swan and Smoke heat that will melt your panties. Some angst thrown in there that had me biting my nails ; all in all, the scenes were fast pace, edge of the seat reading. Also be aware, there is some twists coming that I didn’t see coming which left me hanging until the very end. I kept reading until the very end of the book, which meant burning the midnight oil and I have to say, this was another great read by Ms. Mayburn. I can’t wait to read more in the Iron Horse MC world.

My rating: 5 stars *****

Oh, I just love reading all of Ann Mayburn novels so much. Ann Mayburn is becoming the greatest author in BSDM and MC romance novels. She has the craft to create such sexy Alpha men and adorable yet feisty women in her stories. We get to read about more on Swan and Smoke. They continue to hunt down the "rat" in the MC clubs. They also got to find Swan twin sister, Sarah, and save her before the "rat" finds her. I find the plot so thriving and fun that it makes the read so much more addicting. We also get to read about more on Smoke and Swan relationship as they develop. You will find yourself wanting to slap Smoke since there are times that he will act as jerk. But then he will redeem himself that I went back to loving him again. Everyone will love Swan so much because she has grown a lot in this novel that she is beautiful women to have. Another great story from Ann Mayburn.
