Take without asking. Kill to survive. That’s been my mantra for years. A lone bear like me isn’t interested in being rooted down, until fate threw a dirty-talking Omega with an attitude under my wheels.
Jake Winters wants a protector. I’m looking for one last wild ride before heading back on the road. Mating Jake and marrying our wolves hadn’t been on the agenda. Neither was falling in love.

I can honestly admit to an addiction to these fun, sexy, quick reads with a little drama and a lot of hot sex. 'His Biker Bear' met all of these requirements, plus gave me a grumpy bear and a snarky omega wolf. I do have a huge soft spot for omegas, and a mouthy one? Well, that's just a great, big bonus.
Blake is a lone bear, having left his pack at eighteen and never looked back. When it looks like he'll need to stop to get some repairs done on his bike, he reluctantly heads to Moonvalley, a shifter town reputed to not like outsiders. On his way, he almost runs over Jake, an all-white omega wolf, who is running from someone. Turns out Jake's boyfriend was killed in a car accident three weeks ago, tonight is the first night of the full moon, and Jake is being hunted to be given the mating bite. For you see, a male omega is capable of carrying pups, which makes Jake very valuable. And something Blake wants nothing to do with, although his bear thinks differently.

I usually don’t read works that are this short in page numbers because I’m such a reading glutton, and I prefer a book with lots and lots of pages, and lots and lots of story! Nevertheless, I requested this book while training a new reviewer, and I’ll be honest, I enjoyed this novella, for what it was. I found it well structured, with a beginning, middle and end, and although I would have been happy to read more pages about these characters, I didn’t feel slighted when I finished it. I’ve never read anything by this author, but would probably consider reading more in the future.
We meet Blake Hayden when he is riding along on his motorcycle…worried if it is going to make it to the next town. It is running poorly and he can’t remember the last time he had it worked on. But the problem is the town ahead is known for having a very standoffish pack of wolf shifters living there, and he is a bear shifter.
When a wolf runs out in front of him and it turns out to be an Omega from that town, by the name of Jake Winters, thing start to get complicated for Blake. Jake is on the run from something. Can and will Blake help?
I enjoyed this quick read as I mentioned above, but with some caveats. I really found that the story was a little too predictable for me. It had the good guy versus bad guy, knight in shining armor, fight for the Omega type story that is quite common in this genre, and as such it didn’t really vary all that much from a lot of other shifter stories that I’ve read in the past. And what was up with the characters’ names? Jake & Blake? Seriously?
As a biker, and a bear, I love books with that combination. This one though, even while well laid out and structured, could have used a little more oomph. I would like to have known more about the characters, who I really didn’t connect with as much as I had hoped. Overall, I’m going to have to rate this one as Good/Average on our scale.
Blake was Jake's knight in shining armor and I loved it. Jake was an Omega running from his abusive pack who just wanted to use him as a breeder. Blake fights for him and they soon fall in love. This was as sweet as it was gripping. I enjoyed it. =)
There’s something to be said for this kind of story, where you leave logic at the door and settle down for a total fantasy-filled tale. I admit to having a weakness for shifter stories of any stripe, and I liked to suspend disbelief to just jump into this world. For that kind of story, this novella definitely delivers. What you see is what you get, and it’s an easy romp into a shifter tale.
The characters are exactly what you would expect from the blurb. Blake is a dominant bear shifter. He’s big, brawny, and tattooed. He’s a loner who wants to be left alone. But when he meets Jake, even though the man is cheeky and sassy, he recognizes that Jake needs help and protection. I liked that the animal instincts and the human ones warred within him. And I liked that the author made me fully understand how those two halves want different things and think differently. Jake, too, had his moments where he shined. His attitude was a front, his need for safety driving everything. While there wasn’t anything particularly complex to the characters, they had layers and a bit of depth that kept them from feeling like caricatures or one dimensional.
His Biker Bear by Angelique Voisen has the story of Blake a tough werebear who is a loner. He likes riding his motorcycle. He left his group of bears when he was 18. Him and his bike, that is the way he likes it. Then he almost hits a werewolf. This little one is scared, and bleeding. He stops reluctantly to help and gets more than he bargained for. Jake is an omega. One of the only kinds that can bear children. Now with the man who protected him dead it is open season on him. He is running, he wants to be seen as more than a baby making machine. He is sassy, bold, and very smart. I liked his character a lot. Great foil for Blake who is darker and moody. Might not think bears and wolves mix but these two have chemistry that is off the charts. I liked the humor in this story. Jake brings a lot of it with his sass. I also liked the depth of the emotions in this book. Jake has many layers to him. Blake too for that matter. I really would like to visit these two again and see how they end up. Over all great story with a sweet awesome ending.
This review is hard to write because while I didn’t love the story I didn’t hate it either. It didn’t work for me but I’m not exactly sure why.
His Biker Bear has everything I normally like; bikers, a strong alpha and a snarky smart ass. The alpha bear shifter, Blake, and Jake, an omega, have a meet cute with instant verbal sparring as well as a quick attraction.
Their chemistry was strong and I like seeing them together, but I never connected with either one. I would’ve liked to know more about them and their pasts.
There’s nothing wrong with the author’s writing style but it didn’t work for me. Again, I have no idea why.
I wouldn’t hesitate recommending this book to anyone. It was a decent read and maybe you’ll enjoy it more than I did.
Loved this book! Blake is just a big teddy bear with a soft spot for a particular little snarky omega. Those too just hit it with the first pump into each other. Jake is adorable, his inner strength and his seeking for some true love...sigh...seducing his grumpy honey bear seems just the perfect plan, doesn't it? And the seducing part is more than just steamy, oh my! I couldn't stop reading till I knew what would happen next and neither would you! Believe me!
I liked this story very much. There was a bit steam but not much romance going on. There was an exchanged "I Love you" in the end and a few drunken sweet moments where a more tender side glimpsed through all the gruff and scheming. I would have liked a more substancial background on the MC's, specially Blake to justifie their actions and reasoning. If you like ms. Voisen's other books you'll probably like this one too.
I dont know what it was about this book. I was able to read it but I really wasnt able to "get into it" like I wanted. I think if I had more background info on the MC and Blake. Now there were some steamy hot scenes that really were good.
DNF 14 pages in. chapter two started and...well I’m confused it was meant to read right off chapter one and somehow didn’t, but I read on letting it go, it was fine, It settled out quickly. What I DNFed it on was “Remembering the full moon when I nearly ran Jake over,” which happened the chapter before but reads like old times...yeah just couldn’t. It’s one of those ‘not enough hours, to many better books to read’ kinda situations for me.
